Cuppa or Hot Beverage?

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 11:43

Hello. The result of our cup of tea emoticon poll show a clear win for the cuppa fans.

So.... all that remains is to decide what text we all type in to make our cup of tea emoticon appear.

Would you like [cuppa] ?

Or the rather less liquid-specific/more amusing but longer-to-type [hot beverage] ?

Do let us know...

Brew ok, [mug] better. Grin

But definitely, a mug emoticon. There's just not enough liquid in a cup!

[mug] with all it's connotations is lovely

Radical compromise measure proposed there by MmeLindt: with your stand-off defusing skills you should be in Egypt advising Mubarak.

Yes, make the key-text customisable. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc could all generate the same emoticon and be available as options on the cusomise page. We ought also to have options so that people can use their favoured brand of tea/coffee. So: Earl Grey, PG Tips, Java. Kenya AA. I hope they will all be Fairtrade brands though.

I can't see any reason for not taking the time and discussion to do this properly.

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 11/02/2011 15:06

[mug] for me

MrsTicklemouse · 11/02/2011 15:08

IngridBergmann · 11/02/2011 15:21

IngridBergmann · 11/02/2011 15:21

NormanTheForeman · 11/02/2011 15:53

Am hoping MNHQ make their mind up soon, as I'm rather looking forward to using it.

The bear is here --> Bear

Blacksand · 11/02/2011 16:29

Oh No! Please, we can't have your head exploding. We need it intact so we can get this emoticon into use.

Eleison · 11/02/2011 17:10

It's easy Helen:

In Customise, under Select Cup Generation Options, you have a main menu with four options:

Tea
Coffee
Chocolate
Other

Each of these has a dropdown sub menu

Tea: PG Tips; Tetley; Twinings Breakfast; Lapsang Souchong ... (etc)

Coffee: Java; Costa Rican, Peaberry, .. (etc)

Chocolate: Cadburies, Green & Black ... (etc)

Other: Horlicks, Bovril, Marmite, Yerba Mate ... (etc)

There will also being intermediate dropdowns so you can choose orgainic, fairtrade, decaff, etc.

Simples!

NormanTheForeman · 11/02/2011 17:13

Do we get an option for builders' tea? And how about options for milk, sugar, etc. And don't forget the people who like peppermint tea, fruit tea, boiled bush etc.....

Eleison · 11/02/2011 17:15

It will be the world's first emoticon vending machine.

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 17:15

Ok, it's Brew and we'll work on a more mug-shaped emoticon with no saucer

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 11/02/2011 17:17

could i suggest a few herby/fruit/redbush types in that tea list too please.

NormanTheForeman · 11/02/2011 17:20

You should be thankful you didn't have to go through all this discussion with your Wine AtYourCervix!

HelenMumsnet · 11/02/2011 17:20

ahem, AtYourCervix, did you not see the

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 11/02/2011 17:26

or coffee.

AtYourCervix · 11/02/2011 17:27

Brew is a bit, well, common, don't you think?

Brew is rubbish. The only thing you brew is tea. Again, it marginalised and/or excludes other hot beverages.

Vote [mug]! (another one for Mr Cameron perhaps?)

Happiness comes in a [mug]

Eleison · 11/02/2011 17:42

God! We forgot soup!
