the seat is good on the xt. my 3.5yr old has plenty of room. how old is your ds?

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:15

you're a brave woman doing that walk!!

yesterday i made tate get out of buggy up hills, to bounce down steps etc. bad mummy i am!

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2009 22:17

Yes I do that often. She was asleep this time though. I will put on pounds when DD3 gives up pushchairs

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:18

i know i do think that too! plus you won't get such a good tan on your hands and arms!!

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2009 22:23

Think that its just more physical pushing an umbrella pushchair in that style. No air tyres for a start and because the handles are very upright you need to put in effort when going up kerbs iyswim.

Jane annoys me plenty in other ways.
Huge bulky raincover that you can't fold back when it stops raining.
No storage on hood.
Clip to keep shut when folded tends to want to go inwards and get itself caught inside pushchair.
Small hood
Hood opens in a series of jerks and feels like it will snap.

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2009 22:23

Pushchair hands!
I remembered the sunscreen on them today!

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:27

yes i've got lovely pushchair hands!!

just checked weather forecast in turkey 38degs wonder what spf to take??!

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:29

i really don't think you can beat a mac for umbrella fold. but im like a broken record aren't i, i have said that a few times!!!

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2009 22:30

Apparently [I read this on MN] anything above factor 30 is not needed.
Can't remember why
[dangerous lack of brain cells emoticon]

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:31

i've never used anymore than a 15 but thought i would try 25spf as i will be asleep in that sun i reckon (obv not all day!!)

nicolamumof3 · 28/07/2009 22:33

night night xx

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2009 22:33

nic my son was one on thursday last week but he is chunky and long.. That helps alot about the Jane thanks. Another thing that puts me off the city mini which is such a shame it does not have an adjust foot rest. I know he will not always need this but he the legs do look so much more comfy on the elite and even the obaby with the leg rest. The bjcm is sooo easy to handle and does have a decent basket but oh that awful recline. It is impossible to lift when baby in the seat. Do you know understand why i am finding this hard to choose. ohhhhhh i can't believe i am at the same point again. I do love my main pushchair now even with it's air tyres.

nicolamumof3 · 29/07/2009 07:37

basl is there anywhere you can go see the BJCM? and compare it to the XT? john lewis stock both then you can sit him in to compare. i just don't like the look of BJCM.i wanted to love it as its so popular and they were reduced in kiddicare. but i just don't. im a maclaren girl.

dunoon we go 2 weeks on friday!! am dreading leaving the kids esp. as pil having them for three days and they've never even changed a nappy

buggylovinmummy · 29/07/2009 07:53

I love my BJCM, since ive had it ive not even thought about buying another pushchair but when i had my last one which was a mac quest it was all i thought about

Must admit the recline is the only downfall to it but i suppose because my ds is nearly 3(on friday) he doesnt lay down in it very much anyway.

Great for toddlers but not sure i would have been happy with it when he was a baby.

FlyMeToDunoon · 29/07/2009 10:20

Nicola when Grandma had DDs recently I had to just decide 'It will be Fine!' and try to forget about what might happen.
Grandma has looked after them for short periods and so has changed nappies plus she is very interested generally.
I did have a nightmare about DD2 while she was away.
They all had fun. Is Tom going? because my eldest is sensible and I knew she would keep ILs on the right track.

Jane Energy does have positives:
Lovely fabrics
Adjustable leg rest
Big wheels
Nice lie back mechanism-squeeze handle at back
Big seat
Tall handles
Cheaper than XT

FlyMeToDunoon · 29/07/2009 10:24

Or should I...........?

nicolamumof3 · 29/07/2009 11:04

you know i've had many xt's, they are great. only got rid of mine as couldn't one hand push but thats not a consideration any longer as tate walks holding on to side etc.

IL's are totally clueless dunoon they make out they are interested in~DC's but when they come to visit they spend most time at shops i will be nervous wreck i suspect!

scattykatty · 29/07/2009 11:07

Oh Nicola I'm so jealous of a baby free holiday! How come you didn't go right after the wedding? Could you not get the time off work then? Last year we went to Czech Rep for a holiday with DS, it was a nightmare.... at easter we went to Malta, and that was a nightmare too! Don't know if I can quite face trying again this summer Only 16 1/2 years to go til he's an adult and I'm free to have 3 weeks in the Virgin Islands

nicolamumof3 · 29/07/2009 11:15

we couldn't afford a honeymoon. but we asked for Thomas Cook vouchers for wedding presents. we were v.v.lucky and got some generous gifts

i couldn't have got organised for going away straight after the wedding and sorting boys out too tbh anyway. so it will be nice.

We've taken boys away as babies and toddlers its been ok but not a holiday for us. but then thats kids eh?

JigglyPiggy · 29/07/2009 11:20

hello everyone

at talk of turkish weather

just for a change its pouring again here

that means another day stuck in with 4yr old & baby. Ive posted in chat for ideas for wii games for DD but not getting any answers - any ideas here?

I think once i've got LO's sorted im going to sort through the next lot of stuff to ebay. Had to relist my zapp basket as the buyer hit BIN then decided to buy elsewhere!

Had some great service from Dorel. Called yesterday to enquire about the replacement brake for my loola and recived it in the post this morning free of charge!

whats everyone else doing with their LO's in this lovely weather?

scattykatty · 29/07/2009 11:22

Sometimes the DH says that as I'm home with the baby at the moment everyday is a holiday for me! But I think that no day is actually ever a holiday as you're working ALL the time. I'd love a little break just the two of us but I've never left DS for more than a few hours and would probably miss him as soon as I got off the plane

I can't believe your PIL have never changed a nappy! How old is Tom, 6/7 ish? So they have had best part of a decade of being GP's and still haven't helped out I would be annoyed if mine had never done anything like that when they came to stay with us.

nicolamumof3 · 29/07/2009 11:31

scatty Toms my oldest from my first marriage. their gc are 3.5yr and tho so had plenty of nappy opportunities. tbh i don't think they are that into kids. im constantly amazed they brought up two of their own!! they never pick them up if their crying, generally v.unresponsive. god im dreading leaving them now. its three nights my parents are doing the rest.

jiggly we've not had much rain here at all im afraid.

i get the craft stuff out if it does poor down. ds3 got an easel for bday and they love to paint in kitchen. or do sticking etc.
