just wondered if any of you girls can help me with my car seat dilema.. my mam is gonna buy it.. and one is one offer at argos atm..

Carseat www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001501&langId=-1&search Terms=376-1078

But i have an old shape micra.. like.. a 52 plate micra.. but can this be used without a base? if not.. does anyone have the surefix base and it fit into a micra?

If none of that above works.. can anyone reccomend me one..? lol.. sorry..

sweetkitty · 31/03/2009 20:42

Oh Dis I remembered too why you weren't on today go to bed and have a restful night, glad you are getting your XT on Friday too.

Right next mission is a buggyboard to go on an XT

sweetkitty · 31/03/2009 20:44

Kitteh - I have this one but have the base for it as well, don't think you could use it without the base. I only have it as it was given to me by a close friend and I sold my Graco seat with my travel system. TBH I'm not that keen on it, would rather have had a Maxi Cosi sorry.

Kitteh · 31/03/2009 20:48

Loads of people have said maxi cosi like.. its just so hard.. cos i have no clue about car seats at all.. lol.. Thanks kitty..

sweetkitty · 31/03/2009 20:58

There's nothing wrong with it Kitteh I am just not that keen, am sure it would fit in a Micra though.

Kitteh · 31/03/2009 21:05

Thanks Kitty.. I have the frame for a pram too.. which needs a maxi cosi seat.. ermm.. quinny buzz.. and it has the little things on the side which clip in a car seat.. i'd rather go off reccomndations though.. =)

artifarti · 31/03/2009 21:18

Mrs Magooo - realised that the Argos BJCM was a fluke that I'd missed but do any actual shops sell them apart from John Lewis? There just seem to be lots of mysterious websites where you have to 'call for best price'. Tho I see Ebay has some - and in green as well.

Nicola - the My4 has been really good (apart from the public transport thing but I guess that's common to lots of prams) Just time for something a bit lighter now.

Hopi · 31/03/2009 21:25

Kitteh I used to childmind and one of the babies had that seat - but I couldn't fit it into my Peugeot 206! It is HUGE!!!!!! I ended up getting her a Graco one with the base instead as it was soooooo easy. Now I no longer childmind and I am currently pregnant with number 2 - for him we have bought a maxi cosi with the isofix base as it is teeny weeny, light and so easy to use. I would never have a M&P or a Graco car seat again, I'd go for the maxi cosi every time x

claret1980 · 31/03/2009 21:27

I want a BJCM,I don't really like the new colours. Would rather have an apples quest thou. Will buy yours Nicola when you get bored of it!

sweetkitty · 31/03/2009 21:51

Hopi - do you think it's that big? I have a CMAX so quite a big car.

Claret - I agree wish I had seen those BJCMs whilst they were still in stock

5intheEgg · 31/03/2009 22:06

Sk, totally know what you mean about those BJCM from Argos being sold for more. I hate it when people buy the lower price stuff just to seel. leave it for us pram folk

Kitteh · 31/03/2009 22:19

Hopi.. thats fab.. The woman in the mamas and papas shop when i went for a noisy at it said they don't fit well in small cars like..
I dont have a car which can fit an isofix as far as i know.. the woman didnt seem to think so anyways.. so i guess im looking at one which doesnt need a base.. but most do nowadays dont they? aaaaargh..!! lol..

claret1980 · 31/03/2009 22:20

Can't believe you are selling your Volo Nicola!

Anyone want a Maclaren comfort pack in Silver? Fits on all Maclarens.

Hopi · 31/03/2009 22:21

SK Yep, it really was that big! The 206 has shorter than normal (but not that short!) seatbelts in the back too so they wouldn't even go around it properly. Saying that though, even without the seatbelt issue I had to put the front passenger seat so far forwards to accommodate it that there was no way that I could ever have had a passenger in that seat let alone the car seat for my DD who normally sat there! It touched the ceiling of the car and I had to put it in sideways to get it through the door. When I say sideways I mean so that the handle was going in through the door first IYSWIM. It was mahoosive! Much prefer the maxi cosi as it is teeny in comparison

Hopi · 31/03/2009 22:25

Kitteh Sorry, we cross posted there! Most bases are not isofix, you just strap them in with the seatbelt and leave them there. It is a much safer option than strapping the whole seat in each time. The maxi cosi has a choice of 2 bases, a non isofix one and an isofix one so it should fit fine in your Micra with the non isofix base.

I managed to get my maxi cosi seat brand new on ebay for £69 and the isofix base came from Amazon for £75. Not bad considering that both usually retail for over £110 each

claret1980 · 31/03/2009 22:28

Maxi Cosi are fab, the cars we have had don't have isofix. Had a M&P one with base some years back but it was huge in the back of out little corsa, so was glad when dd grew out of it.

Kitteh · 31/03/2009 22:30

Hopi.. thats fantastic.. sitting reading this out to my mam on the phone.. lol.. i think shes looking into the maxi cosi one atm.. thanks so so much..

pebbles79 · 31/03/2009 22:47

MrsM I do like it, but it's just so bulky compared to the Infinity and there's no way it'd accommodate a buggyboard as well as the Infinity. I'm really sad I missed the newborn stage with it as I think I would have loved it then.

Don't know wether to take my pink infinity covers off ebay. I don't have an actual pink pram now and I think that's a must with a girl!

Hopi · 31/03/2009 23:54

I have a question...sorry ladies it is about my beloved Bugaboo Bee...does it have a special footmuff or is it the satndard Bugaboo footmuff? The Bugaboo website is not clear!

Also, does anyone want a BNIP Bugaboo Bee hood in khaki or the Bee maxi cosi adapters? I have purchased two sets for reasons only known to my pregnant brain

nicolamumof3 · 01/04/2009 07:46

Morning all!

Claret not me with the apples quest i bought an 08 mod and love it. i have no desire to have pushchairs everywhere anymore, i don't need the volo and i need the cash tbh! but i will just hang onto it and it can go live in dp's car if it doesn't sell!

sold my maclaren travel bag last night, and thats before i even got a chance to add a piccie on ebay!

hope everyone has good days!
