I am new to all this, DD mentioned the grade boundaries earlier - why do we need to know this? What benefit or draw back is there to looking at them or knowing them early please?

In my opinion, you don’t really. Unless it’s an unexpected result and it is felt a remark was needed as close to the grade boundary. As PP have said, it adds another layer of stress and torture

Littletreefrog · 19/08/2026 22:04

Agh results available 9 until 10:30 I assumed we would go for 9. DS has just informed me he wants dropping off at 10:15! Why are teenagers so odd?!

Students want to look before they get results, so they can see if the grade boundaries were high/low and measure them against how they think they did in the exam (which they took weeks ago, in among 22 other exams!), to predict how they might have done. Which they will soon find out anyway when they collect exams. Or after collecting results, they want to see how far off the next grade up they were, which is a special form of torture imo.

makemineadecaf · 19/08/2026 22:06

Alarm set, though doubt I’ll sleep well and plan is to leave at 7.40.

good luck everyone!!

Tebheag · 19/08/2026 22:12

Under 10 hrs to go !
off to bed DD set alarm for 7am asked to be woken at 7.30am if not already up.
Sending lots of good luck vibes 🍀

applecrumblespider · 19/08/2026 22:14

At least we'll have @NotDarkGothicMama's updates to keep us occupied while waiting outside school in the morning !!

Oh, will they know what percentage they scored? I thought they’d just find out their overall grades.

FlyingPandas · 19/08/2026 22:22

Good luck everyone! Fingers firmly crossed for all.

Ifonlyoneday · 19/08/2026 22:24

Good luck everyone for tomorrow. 🤞. I suspect this thread may run out so once we get close to the limit please can someone link to the new one. Looking forward to hearing however gets on. Hope @NotDarkGothicMama makes it in time. I do think a Mumsnet movie would finish with the scene of @NotDarkGothicMama running into the school hall just in time.

Mumoftwoteenagers · 19/08/2026 22:58

Dd is going to be getting her results in the car as I drive her to her sport thing. By my calcs we will be on the M62 when they come through. I need to avoid crashing the car no matter what they are. She will then have 45 minutes to contact her new school with a screen shot, fill out the application form, get to the venue, park (I’ll be doing that bit!), go to the loo, get changed and be in the right mindset for her sport thing.

It’ll be fine right?!? 😱

Tebheag · 20/08/2026 06:08

Really hoping its not my sleep deprived brain over thinking due to family drama not exams.
Why would school change times for exam results day before. The school was going to be open for 4hrs for results now only 2hrs and results now being emailed out earlier !

Staffing issues? Just guessing!

applecrumblespider · 20/08/2026 06:11

Went to sleep ok but been awake for an hour and I've given up on going back to sleep now which is very annoying. I'm not an early bird. May go for a run.

MabelsBeats · 20/08/2026 06:13

I’m also awake. Ugh, wish I wasn’t. Still in bed, we will leave for school about half seven. Hoping @NotDarkGothicMamais on track!

Thank you, like that reason.
DD will be happy as could get results quicker by email than going to school to collect and taking to car to open them.

Curlyfrizzball · 20/08/2026 06:17

Someone’s car alarm has been going off outside so I can’t sleep. Hopefully it hasn’t woken DD. It’s actually stopped now but my brain has kicked in now and I can’t get back to sleep. We can’t pick up results til 9.30 though.

Neko2026 · 20/08/2026 06:19

Up waiting for DS to get up. He doesnt seem fussed about the results but feel its a front. He struggled with English so hoping to just pass. Maths he needs 8 to carry on further maths, alongside physics and chemistry.

NotDarkGothicMama · 20/08/2026 06:21

Morning! I was celebrating landing half an hour early but we've just been parked on the tarmac, not assigned a gate. Arrrggghhh! I really need the loo too. I slept for most of the flight and there was a big queue when I got woken up for breakfast so decided to wait. Come onnnnnnn. Definitely at the right airport though so that's a win. Apparently the map blackout over western Russia is standard protocol.

P.S. I am quite clumsy, so the Mumsnet movie ending of me running into the school would include me tripping over my suitcase and falling over at the HT's feet.

TheBeatlesWhoarethey · 20/08/2026 06:28

Good luck @NotDarkGothicMama !

I am SO invested in you!!! @NotDarkGothicMama

Crap we’re leaving in an hour. I’ve been awake since 5.30. Made packed lunches for my younger kids off to summer camps today. Dd is awake.

Wishing all the luck to all your wonderful kids. See you on the other side

JustOneMoreMargarita · 20/08/2026 06:38

I’m going to have a shower and then brave waking DD up. Sleep not too bad here, apart from the bit where DS crashed into the house and slammed the door twice at 1am.

i feel like we’re calm here… what will be will be.

good luck everyone - and hope you make it in time @NotDarkGothicMama

Queenncat · 20/08/2026 06:44

Wide awake here. Everyone else fast asleep, obviously.. Coffee made, pets fed.. Torrential rain outside, which makes a change!

Good luck all 🙌

NotDarkGothicMama · 20/08/2026 06:46

Still sat on the tarmac, not moving so I broke the rules and ran off to the loo. I've mentally written off the 7.36 train. The 8.06 gets me there at 9.15. After that, it's 10 onwards. Not pleased but there's nothing I can do. I've taken off my sexy compression socks, ready to run!

Curlyfrizzball · 20/08/2026 06:50

Oh no! Hope they let you out soon @NotDarkGothicMama

Callmejudith · 20/08/2026 06:56

I feel sick!

@NotDarkGothicMamaboo to the tarmac wait! Run run run
