DS1s email last year included them so it must be early 🤞

DD is currently doing laps around London so I too am hoping all the walking will tire her so she gets some sleep.

@makemineadecaf My Dd said she is checking grade boundaries at 8am tomorrow...

So much stress here. Our school (non selective state with well above national average results) requires 6x6 for Sixth form and Dd needs 7 in maths, 6 in biology and 6 in english.
Her friend drove past school today and all of SLT was chatting outside...

That sounds selective, for 6th form anyway..

Grade boundaries at 8am! I hope the are there that early

It seems high compared to other local authorities but it's the norm in most of the local sixth. Only 1 requires 6x5 and we didn't think of applying to it as a back up 🤦‍♀️
Im only going by what dd said about grade boundaries!

We didn't apply to a back up either, never knew it was a thing. Wish we did just in case..

Just back home from work and straight away dd is talking about nistakes she made on the exam papers especially maths. Bengbto nervous to open the results as think will not be as good as her mocks.
She has been busy all day few hours st the gym doing housework to earn extra pocket money no idea what I will I will be doing at 6am normal wake up time, as she has done loads !

Ha I was just thinking the same @Tebheag but annoyingly I have to take DS3 to sports practice at 6:30 so can't crack open a bottle yet! Will be indulging in a glass or two later that's for sure!

@Caddycat I think those sort of requirements are fairly standard for a school sixth form - the school I invigilate for is non-selective to Y11 but then specifies grade requirements for A levels and they are similar to the ones you describe. For the vast majority of A levels there you need a 6 in that subject (and for some a 6 in more than one subject) and a 7 for maths. IME sixth form colleges tend to have lower grade requirements - or so it seemed when DS1 was looking, anyway.

Step 2 complete: I'm on the plane, sitting directly under my luggage. Huzzah! Step 3 - do not crash the plane and land on time - is all on the pilots. Last month they switched the map off as we flew over Russia and I was convinced they were going to land us in Moscow. Thankfully not!

I'm glad your DH's trip isn't clashing with results day @waitingquietly. This has been ridiculously stressful and I had to leave quite a few useful things in Beijing to make the weight restriction. Thanks for all the good vibes.

Held of till 6pm as had to pop to shops for DD.
This evening is going by so fast nonthibg like family drama to help it go by fast just spent 90mins on phone. With Alevel results it was the dog thankfully she has bounced back.

Evening all - feeling slightly sick now.

Me, DD and DH just sat down and wrote all the options down, and what we need to do tomorrow as there is no sixth form at her school. Her first choice is over subscribed and you need a certain number of points to get in overall and if they may lift that up on the day. So we’ve decided if she’s near the cut off point to go for her second choice which is fine as she really likes it also (but not in the centre of town and I think she has visions of swanning off for lunch/Starbucks in free periods).

I don't know what everyone else thinks but can we refrian from sharing grade boundries until later on in the day tomorrow? Think they usually get released quite early. Not sure it will be good for our nerves to hear - rhe grade boundries are srupidly high for Maths or whatever.

yeah, agree on the grade boundaries. It’s going to be tempting to look but it’s just going to be a guessing game before they have their results. Although if DD realises they come out before she gets to school, she’ll probably check… she was analysing all the Maths grade boundaries at exam time

We won’t be looking at grade boundaries unless dd gets an unexpected result and we need to check if a re-mark is worth it. It’s futile imo. Just adds another layer of torture.

That is what I was thinking. Lets just wait and see first.

I am new to all this, DD mentioned the grade boundaries earlier - why do we need to know this? What benefit or draw back is there to looking at them or knowing them early please?
