On our local FB community pages, its crazy how many parents are asking what time and where they can collect kids GCSE results from local schools.

We've had none stop comms from our school, which is not local.

We have had no communication at all from ours. I texted a friend of mine who is a teacher at our school. People often complain about communications at our school- the lack of it. I usually think there is too much- but this time- absolute silence on the topic. And the DCs haven't been told yet either because Ds has been checking several times daily for weeks now to see if he's received any information.

DD’s school sent comms before the summer holidays. They’ve also messaged the kids this week. I think it would probably help if they reminded parents too - but only because DD is vague on sharing info

We got one brief and a bit unclear announcement on the parent app 2 days ago. But that’s it since the end of exams. But it did at least have the pick up time in it - I have absolutely no idea when you are supposed to register / accept offers for sixth form though!

@Drivingselfmad it is hard as your so busy looking for that 4 that you miss the other grades ! DS had a few 7s but I celebrated the pass in English more 😅.

I will be sat down the road in the car while DD goes in on her own not sure if she is meeting friends. She will decide tomorrow where she opens her results.

Our DS can only get results at 10. No app, portal nor email. His TA has sent me a text to ask what time he’ll be there. Don’t know if that’s good or bad. Or neutral. No idea if parents go or not

In other news the DWP have awarded PIP for his disability. Don’t know how much or what for but I think I was more nervous about that!

We are about to go through the process of PIP as well. He gets DLA (took me 9 years after his multiple diagnoses to gird my loins to apply - the process was so harrowing) and I just feel so emotionally depleted already about it.

No collection at my DS’ school. You only go into school if your results are not what are required for your pre-selected A Levels and you have to request an appointment for that once you have viewed your results in the portal

DS's school has been pretty good on comms - email sent before the summer holidays outlining the process and a follow up this week. He will get an email 'some time after 8am' tomorrow and can go into school from 9am. I think I will do the same as some others on here - drive him in and wait in the car, only going in with him if I see that lots of other parents are!

@whereonthestair I wouldn't read too much one way or another into the text from the TA. He/she won't know results - the school exams officers and SLT will know results today, but school teaching staff will not be told anything until tomorrow. That's my understanding anyway but please do correct me someone if that is wrong!

Same here @mondaycando1.Dd also needs 48 points across best subjects. I am not sure DD is going to get the grades needed. She going to be so upset as it will mean she isn’t with her close friends anymore. It will mean a much longer journey to a college without her friends but trying to tell her she will make lots of new friends even though her brother didn’t when he went there.

That’s group 1 - group 2 is average of 7.5 and over. And then they say below that basically no chance of a place. So then we will be on to plan B! But fingers crossed.

We just got a reminder message from school about procedure for tomorrow. We do also keep getting reminders about DS’s Sparx Maths though!

DS's school you need the bulk to be Grade 5 or above for A levels, but 'it's not set in stone' quote unquote. It's a non-selective Indy with nearly 50% SEN and although at the lower end of costs has been hit hard by VAT with a noticeable leave rate. So I think tbh they will take DS as long as we are prepared to pay. I felt fairly confident after his mocks as he was around 6 and 7 for everything.... but he burned out just before the exams proper and never really got back on track. I'm happy if he needs to re-do them though, whatever it takes.

It’s our younger son’s birthday today so that’s a distraction from his brother’s GCSE results tomorrow. He is getting a bit nervous but generally seems to have taken the sensible attitude that he’s done everything he can. He did well in his mocks and is predicted good grades so barring disaster should be able to do the A level subjects he wants at his current school. But he does put a lot of pressure on himself so I hope he’s pleased with whatever he gets.

Our son’s school is a large suburban comprehensive (12 form entry) and they have time slots to collect gcse results by surname! His slot is 09.15 to 09.30. Once collected you can wait in the playground for friends.

We live a 15 min walk from school so I think he’ll just walk there as normal. He often walks with a friend (including for the gcse exams) but he’s a different time slot due to surnames.

I don’t think he’ll want me to go with him and I am hoping he lets us know in a timely fashion!

Dd is guaranteed a place to stay at her Indy sixth form. However she needs an average of 8 x 8 grades for her scholarship.

Its a matter of hours now everyone 😬

Have taken DD to the Natural History Museum to try and tire her out so she sleeps well tonight! Worked when she was 3 hoping the same now 🤣

@whereonthestair .. just so you know you aren’t alone - I’ve just seen the appointment list and I can see that DS2 and I have been allocated to see the head of sixth form rather than either deputy .. I’m now thinking he hasn’t met his offer … but the only person I can ask if the others in the list are also people who might not meet their offer is DS2 .. and I’m obviously not going to do that .. I recognise a couple on the list … it’s painful

Collection for results tomorrow is from 9.00 to 10.30 am at ds’s school. We will drive him there then he will go off with his friends for the day.

The last few years Ds has always shared lots of stories that he has seen on Tik Tok on results days for A level and GCSEs. This year he didn’t mention anything on last week’s A level results. There has been no talk of results day or 6th form either so I think the nerves are starting to kick in as he’s very quiet which is very out of character.

God so much pressure on them.

I do feel reasonably confident that DD has done pretty well. No appointments or anything here - they just collect results and then immediately enroll for 6th form
