It’s a yes for us-I am so so happy for DS! We’re on the edges of the catchment areas though so not out of the woods yet but means there’s more options.

Muaodaughter3 · 14/10/2025 09:08

Whats the top 180 cut off this year?

Purpletoes · 14/10/2025 09:28

253 was top 180 cut off 2070 in total were deemed selective

macaroniart · 14/10/2025 09:31

The Bexley system is disgraceful. After all these weeks of waiting they provide the results on a website that crashes after one minute. The knew 6000 people were going to log on at 9am.

totally agree. 30mins later and I am still unable to get on to the site.

TheLiloAndTheSlowCooker · 13/10/2025 21:04

@ToilingAway - no, you won't lose your Heckmondwike place. The schools will look at everyone who has listed them as a preference and see whether they qualify, and then you'll be offered the highest on your list of preferences you qualify for. The schools don't know what order you put them down in.

(and congratulations: we are in the same position, but on the North Halifax side)

So I am going as follows

  1. Crossley - met all 3 requirements and DS already attends.
  2. Heckmondwike - ranked very high - top 50
  3. Salendine Nook (not in catchment area)

Kirklees lets you pick 3-6 schools I think?

So based on that I should get either Crossley or Heckmondwike with my preference being Crossley Heath.

This is based on my understanding of this.

https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/schools/the-equal-preference-system

But I am still a bit confused. 🙄

Whenwillfreetimereturn · 14/10/2025 09:35

Sorry to hear it’s a no for a few of you

I will need to distract myself as it doesn’t look like I will be accessing the results anytime soon

What's the pass mark then? 212 or sth? thanks.

Purpletoes · 14/10/2025 09:41

Yes 212 is the selective mark

SatsumaCat · 14/10/2025 09:45

I'm on the way into the office, no point spending the morning refreshing the screen at home and not getting any work done. Have given it a rest for a bit and hopefully some others will get through and reduce the load on the system

DolphinOnASkateboard · 14/10/2025 09:46

Really sorry for those who have missed out. Are there any appeal / review systems for this one?

It's appalling that an already tough day has been made worse by IT failures, it doesn't take a genius to predict that everyone receiving an email will be logging on instantly to see the result but apparently the administrators have been caught out by it.

Not really. I think it’s only if the child is seriously ill or has a major bereavement rather than on academic terms. The suggestion is appeals never win too.

Purpletoes · 14/10/2025 09:41

Yes 212 is the selective mark

253 is roughly in line with last year (252), according to ChatGPT, This means 6-7 errors for each half, ie, 90% accuracy for 120 questions, 12 total errors. Everyone I spoke to felt the test wasn't very hard this year, so I am surprised that the mark has not gone up. Even the teachers at my son's school said this year they made the exam easier, as last year's was a bit too hard. hope everyone who is aiming for 180 can get in

macaroniart · 14/10/2025 09:54

Good Morning

Our Bexley Selection test page is currently experiencing technical issues meaning the Bexley website has crashed.

This has been logged as a priority case with the website company, and is being looked into as a matter of urgency to get this back up & running as soon as possible.

Please try again later & thank you for your patience.

Muaodaughter3 · 14/10/2025 09:59

By the way, for those who got in, did you only get one combined score? or two scores, ie, 120 (English +VR) +120(NVR+Math), thanks.

DolphinOnASkateboard · 13/10/2025 11:36

On the meaning of 1:1, this is from the Bucks council website:

Headteachers of state funded Buckinghamshire primary or Partner schools are asked – before the test results are known – whether they would recommend your child for a grammar school. They also provide information about your child’s attitude to learning. If your child attends any other school, your child’s headteacher will have the opportunity to add their recommendation as part of the Headteacher’s Selection Review Summary Sheet.

The headteacher can give a child’s grammar school suitability recommendation as:

(1) Exceptionally able so very highly recommended, or;

(2) Very able so recommended without any reservation, or;

(3) Recommended with reservation, or;

(4) Not recommended for grammar school.

Your child’s attitude to learning will be described as:

(1) Enjoys a challenge and is a highly motivated independent learner, or;

(2) Consistently hard working and reliable, or;

(3) Output varies, or;

(4) Lacks self-organisation, requires support.

This information is valued by the SRP, because it gives them an idea of the context in which your child is working in school. It can also help to show if a child’s result was unexpected when compared to their recommendation.

Oh wow this is excellent , I wish they had that in other areas. Not to p you off but DS friends ( were in London) shared their Bucks results with him all 150s + and in my mind im thinking, this means nothing when you live so far, I don't understand the logic

sakura06 · 14/10/2025 10:03

Can’t believe the Bexley site is still down. Absolutely shocking to be honest. I’ve been on it about ten times.

macaroniart · 14/10/2025 10:10

I emailed them but they won't send the results out via email as there are too many requests. Such a terrible system.

Let us know if they give you the results- good luck!

Magnificentkitteh · 14/10/2025 10:13

Oh I'm sorry you have additional IT woe adding to your stress.

Congratulations to those who got through but sorry to those who did not. I hope your next steps are fruitful ones.

Just had an email from St Mary Magdalene saying their results have been posted via snail mail. Which is a bit annoying but not as annoying as a website crash I guess. I think this is our third choice school but DD is actually quite keen on it as it's nearer to home and her friends are still in the running for it.

ToilingAway · 14/10/2025 10:31

Can someone explain why Crossley do not provide rankings anymore as it makes deciding on your school of choice that much more difficult.

sakura06 · 14/10/2025 10:36

@macaroniart I agree it’s a terrible system! My eldest did it a few years ago, and I’m fairly certain her results were emailed as standard.

FunBlueCritic · 14/10/2025 10:37

I just got my letter from Mary Mags, so they must have posted yesterday. DS was in the 80s, so probably just missed out!

Ooh. <eyes letterbox more expectantly>. 80s = worth a punt on your form?

Dadsbabe · 13/10/2025 13:15

anyone got news about Trafford consortium

Not really, but I’ve heard rumour that we should be receiving an email today telling us when the results will be with us.
