So bored! Tell us already!
DS is sitting a musical aptitude test at one of our back up schools and they tell you the results two days after sitting the test!
Do you think it's so they have to deal with fewer phone calls from angry parents challenging the results?

Magnificentkitteh · 02/10/2025 12:57

Good luck on the music test! That is one area where I fear my DD's strengths do not lie.

CheerfulMuddler · 02/10/2025 13:03

I'm pretty sure he won't pass. We haven't done any prep and while he is musical, he isn't Musical musical. He's very much a Grammar School Kid, but only tangentially a Music Kid.
However, I know I'd always regret it if he fails the 11+ and we hadn't at least tried. And if he does pass, his brother would get a sibling place, which means I could stop worrying about secondary schools full stop. Which would be nice.

Magnificentkitteh · 02/10/2025 13:11

I thought that. I was confident dd2 would follow dd1 but a) dd1's school has changed quite considerably in 4 years to the point where I no longer feel it's the best option, and 2) dd2 had her own ideas!

CheerfulMuddler · 02/10/2025 13:19

Yeah, they do that! Pesky kids.

Does anyone know the type of the English creative writing task in the last few years?

any detail around type and/or the question itself would be great if known.

thank you

I’ve woke up in a foul mood this morning….: I just want all this crap to be over now. I’m at the point where I just want to know!!!!
I know I sound like a spoilt child but I’m just carrying round this ball of anxiety in my stomach.
17 days and counting.

Exactly same here, still waiting without any updates. I have no idea what the outcome will be, and I understand how uncertain it feels. At the moment, I’m just waiting for the Trafford Consortium result, but it’s still unclear whether the announcement will be on 16th October or 21st October.

For Trafford, from experience, you won't get any updates untill very close to the day. It does make the wait a lot harder not knowing when that will be.

Feeling the same about Latymer. Keep thinking it might be today and then beating myself over the head about the fact it won't be and I have to actually do some work. Chances of my child getting in are practically zero and they want to go to their local school anyway but it is driving me crazy not to know.

I spoke to the school about something else yesterday and cheekily asked. They confirmed it’s today. Not sure if that helps!

Actually that helps a lot. Thank you! I can cope with a few more hours but a whole weekend was just a horrible thought. I will now go and distract myself for the morning and see what happens. I appreciate you doing the job for the rest of us 😄

Magnificentkitteh · 03/10/2025 10:26

Oh do you think it will be? That would be good - I am wasting so much time thinking about this stuff! I know it is only rank 1 but would be good to rule it in or out. Am just dropping DD for St Mary Magdalene and going to find a cafe to allegedly work/in reality stare at my inbox

UnicornLand1 · 03/10/2025 10:52

DAO releases their results just a couple of days before the end of October - so stressful, it's ridiculous, isn't it... so many open days everywhere and I just don't know whether to go or not, 'cause we have no idea what the results will be.

Magnificentkitteh · 03/10/2025 11:01

Email from Latymer saying results won't be in applicaa but will arrive by email this afternoon. Eek.

SFV · 03/10/2025 11:11

Good luck people! Even i would just like to know if it's a yes or a no! :)

Anyone heard anything about when the Bexley results will be out? Any chance they will be out today?

That would be amazing! Although I think it’s unlikely. Can’t believe that we still don’t know when they gonna let us know.

macaroniart · 03/10/2025 11:40

I know, it would be much less stressful if we knew the date the results would be released!

AngryBird6122 · 03/10/2025 11:53

Jumping on out of interest (we went through the process last year and the year before so v recent in my head!) do you not know the date of the results?! And why not?

We are waiting for Bexley results. It’s such a long process as the test was back on 09th Sep. The only available info says results TBA early October. Hopefully it won’t be long now.

It depends on the school and the borough. Some gave more of a deadline than a specific date, so you're on tenterhooks in case it's much earlier, but even the latest date deadlines have slipped/moved in some cases.
