DD did AQA maths. No news yet. Seems to be dawdling home.
DH said she was more stressed about history tomorrow than Maths today so I expect she'll be back to that soon! Also got Spanish but she doesn't usually revise for that!

Thereisalwaysanothertime · 03/06/2024 11:00

Would be so much easier if all kids sat the same exam!

DramaLlamaBangBang · 03/06/2024 11:03

I just had ' pretty good. Better than paper 1'!.

Tiredalwaystired · 03/06/2024 11:05

A report of pleasantly happy with edexcel paper 2.

and onto Geography we go!

steppemum · 03/06/2024 11:15

dd just etxted (about somethign else, she would never actually volunteer exam info)
AQA paper 2 was 'alright' which means it was good.
But she found paper 1 good, and maths is her thing so that may not be any help.

I'm relieved though, you can't do A level unless you get a 7, so she does need that.

Anyone doing igcse edexcel maths higher? Waiting to hear. Think it finishes at 11.

We do. No news yet.

Wehaditsogood · 03/06/2024 11:17

We do. No news yet.

Heard that it was ok. First 20 questions were good and straight forward. The last 5 were tough.

Popfan · 03/06/2024 11:25

Edexcel foundation here. DS says it was OK but a bit harder than paper 1. He's not feeling 100% though, up in the night feeling dizzy and sick. Awful timing, really hoping it hasn't affected him too much today and he doesn't feel worse as the week progresses. No exams tomorrow thankfully.

Thereisalwaysanothertime · 03/06/2024 11:28

Mine has had hayfever. And one tablet only helps a bit. Not sure what else I can do?

Newlittlerescue · 03/06/2024 11:31

DS found Edexcel Maths Higher hard (harder than Paper 1). He said there were a lot of graphs questions, and that's his weakest topic.

JessyCarr · 03/06/2024 11:34

DD happy with Edexcel Higher Maths 2. Some classmates didn’t turn over to the last page but last Q (circle theorem) was only a 4-marker so not the end of the world I expect.

omnishambles · 03/06/2024 11:45

DD happy with Edexcel higher, she's hoping for an 8.

JaninaDuszejko · 03/06/2024 11:54

DD1 back from Edexcel Maths Higher. Could be better, could be worse was her assessment.

Zubomama · 03/06/2024 11:56

Not heard from DS but graphs are his weak point so thats not great news :(

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 03/06/2024 12:01

DS did AQA higher and found the paper OK, slightly harder than paper 1 but he was pleased he got the final 5 marker right from the discussions after the exam.

RunningAndSinging · 03/06/2024 12:02

Edexcel iGCSE higher here. It was alright - the easy questions were easy and the hard ones were hard! She definitely saw all the questions this time apparently the last page was blank.

Waspie · 03/06/2024 12:02

DS (Edexcel higher) has text "Brilliant. One of the nicest papers I've done". He is very prone to extreme reactions but I'm so relieved as he found paper 1 really difficult and ran out of time.

He needs a 6 in theory, as he's not doing it for A level, but has to get 56 points from top 8 GCSEs so a 7 would be better. He was predicted an 8 but I think the issues with paper 1 mean that ship has sailed.

Newlease · 03/06/2024 12:13

bluefineliner · 03/06/2024 07:09

I could have written your post word for word! We even had tears yesterday after she did a practice paper and did really well, it just made her more sad at the mess she made of paper 1 and nothing I said made it any better.

Teaching kids to be resilient and accept less than perfect when they are a perfectionist is really hard.

I am just literally saying on repeat 'put it behind you, there is nothing you can do to change it, this will not stop you doing anything in the future' may as well not waste my breath though 😂.

Anyway, the best of luck today for maths paper 2 to all our students, I will be waiting for the message afterwards which may well dictate her mood for the rest of this week!

@bluefineliner just want to share another side of this.
my DD used to being so dramatic and worry about getting things wrong now has gone “whatever” . AQA maths today, she wanted a 100% to recover from what she lost on paper 1 ( now thinks that was easier than todays paper 2 ) came back to say I might have lost 6-8 marks, with no sadness at all. I am not sure if I am relieved or not. I don’t want her to spiral down the difficult hole, when there isn’t anything we can do about gone papers. But at the same time, I am a bit worried about stubborn ‘only few more to go’ attitude.
we had really bad HT, friends over upon her request, I wanted to take it light as well. I went down with massive body pain and viral symptoms and she had the same since Wed. Periods as well. Spent two days in bed. I am glad both are over during HT, but then that thrown her into a difficult mindset
saying that, she thought Geo and Business is tomorrow and now realised it’s only on Wed. So hoping she could revise a little bit more

TrixieFatell · 03/06/2024 12:19

AQA higher here, got think it went alright, last few questions hard. We are just going for a pass, maths is not a strong subject. She managed to work her way from a 3 at the end of year 10 to a 5 in the PPE before GCSEs. She wanted to go down to foundation but the school wanted her to stay on the higher so she really feels the pressure.

History tomorrow so hopefully that will go better, she enjoys history.

Bellini12 · 03/06/2024 12:19

Edexel igcse higher here too and DD said it was better than paper 1 (but found a couple of the later questions hard). She has the potential to get an 8 but would be satisfied with a 7.
No more maths for her!!

TinfoilTangerine · 03/06/2024 12:20

Newlittlerescue · 03/06/2024 11:31

Same here about it being more difficult than paper 1.
DS currently a bit subdued and having break before looking at history for tomorrow.

Gazelda · 03/06/2024 09:53

Good luck everyone!

Please send positive vibes our way - I've just tested positive for Covid and feel absolutely awful.

How likely is it that DD won't catch it from me (it's prob too late). I feel incredibly guilty.

My DS said there was a kid doing Gcse exam just before half term with covid he was sat right at the back away from people. Hope you feel better soon.

Newlease · 03/06/2024 12:23

@DramaLlamaBangBang AQA higher, according to DD was tough. Lost 6-8 marks, and she said for some ppl paper 1 was hard and she felt this one was hard.
so no idea, explained a lot of questions to me, not sure what she did is correct, I don’t know either. Hopefully someone would post in student room.
@Gazelda Hope you are feeling better and hope it won’t spread to others. I might had Covid as well. Started very quickly after a blood test at hospital, stayed in the same room for practically three days. DD started getting body pain and all that, but only lasted two days. Mine is still going on in with bad headache ( WFH, so only took one day off) DS and DH seem to be okay. Normally they catch everything going around, so bizarre it is

Shinyandnew1 · 03/06/2024 12:26

Edexcel maths here was Good! Nicer than paper 1 which she founds really hard.

JessyCarr · 03/06/2024 12:34

@Newlease Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but losing (only) 6-8 marks across a whole paper would be a superb performance. Well done your DD.
