Well it sounds like he deserves to smash it @DramaLlamaBangBang! Best of luck to him and all our students tomorrow.

Now you lot have sent me down a rabbit hole to look up my first-ever calculator on museum websites. It was a “slimline” TI-35 bought in 1981 (Y9 - we weren’t allowed calculators before that).

Thanks. Yes good luck to your DD and all the kids tomorrow. Back to the grindstone for the next couple of weeks!

BlackBean2023 · 03/06/2024 06:19

Morning! Good luck for those dreading maths paper 2 today!

I know DD is nervous because she's up at 6.15am and doing some Corbett maths 5-a-day sheets whilst eating her porridge!

It's all over in 11 days (for us)...

bluefineliner · 03/06/2024 07:09

JessyCarr · 02/06/2024 21:06

@DramaLlamaBangBang Yes I’ve never seen anything like it! DD needs an 8 in maths, and seems to think that to recover from Paper 1 she needs virtually 100% in Papers 2 and 3. Unfortunately when the maths teacher went through Paper 1 with them afterwards, DD’s assessment of how it had gone went from bad to worse.

I could have written your post word for word! We even had tears yesterday after she did a practice paper and did really well, it just made her more sad at the mess she made of paper 1 and nothing I said made it any better.

Teaching kids to be resilient and accept less than perfect when they are a perfectionist is really hard.

I am just literally saying on repeat 'put it behind you, there is nothing you can do to change it, this will not stop you doing anything in the future' may as well not waste my breath though 😂.

Anyway, the best of luck today for maths paper 2 to all our students, I will be waiting for the message afterwards which may well dictate her mood for the rest of this week!

Tiredalwaystired · 03/06/2024 07:19

Echoing the good vibes for paper two everyone x

MonkeyTennis34 · 03/06/2024 07:20

Good luck to all our DCs sitting Maths today.

Fingers crossed for a friendlier paper 🤞🏻

DD also has PE/Sport this afternoon.

Lalux · 03/06/2024 07:23

Good luck to them all today.

RunningAndSinging · 03/06/2024 07:36

Good luck to everyone with Maths this morning and getting back in the exam routine for the next few weeks. Not long to go now…..

Waspie · 03/06/2024 07:57

I do hope today's Maths paper is kinder than paper 1 was.

DS spent most of yesterday doing papers, reviewing model answers and watching You Tube tutor videos. He seems quite happy and slept well so that's positive.

Good luck to our maths, and PE, students today!

Zubomama · 03/06/2024 08:09

Good luck to all your DCs! DS very relaxed about maths but I'm not sure why. He found Paper 1 hard (Edexcel Higher). He's done some practice but generally still very complacent and not done that much work this HT, although in his estimation he has. Science is the trickier topic for him but he is so bored of it that he is pretty much refusing to do exam questions now... This HT has been mostly about revising Minecraft LOL!

I'm so glad he didnt take history - sounds horrendous. This feeling of being overwhelmed by sheer volume of content is horrible!

A reminder that we are all doing our best and that the kids will all be fine in the long run. Deep breath!!!!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 03/06/2024 08:55

Good luck to all our Y11s today and for a tough couple of weeks x

Pharos · 03/06/2024 09:29

Ds very pragmatic about it all. Paper 1 was ok for him, he’s done past papers steadily through the week and felt fine about it this morning.

He also has PE 2 this afternoon - first paper was ‘bizarrely easy’ so he’s expecting this one to be harder.

Tomorrow is free so he’s planned his timetable for revision in school.

Not long to go folks, they’re on the back straight and the final bend is in sight 😁

Gazelda · 03/06/2024 09:53

Good luck everyone!

Please send positive vibes our way - I've just tested positive for Covid and feel absolutely awful.

How likely is it that DD won't catch it from me (it's prob too late). I feel incredibly guilty.

Lalux · 03/06/2024 10:02

Sending positive vibes @Gazelda. You never know - we've certainly had cases where only one of us have had it in the household.

Lalux · 03/06/2024 10:03

Ps hope you feel better soon!

TinfoilTangerine · 03/06/2024 10:03

Oh no Gazelda. I hope you feel better soon and that DD manages to stay covid free.

Waspie · 03/06/2024 10:15

Oh @Gazelda you poor thing! I hope you feel better soon and that your daughter stays Covid free.

15 more minutes to go on Maths P2....not that I'm counting!

Panic71 · 03/06/2024 10:39

DS higher edexcel
:( saying it was really tough

Glittertwins · 03/06/2024 10:40

Same report just in on the maths

BlackBean2023 · 03/06/2024 10:42

DD Higher Edexcel, found it better than paper 1. She's fairly confident she did well (but isn't aiming for an 8 or 9 so this may be influencing how she feels!).

She said she got the same answer for the last question as some of the Further Maths students so she's buzzing (I haven't pointed out they might all have got it wrong Grin).

Another one down...

Panic71 · 03/06/2024 10:44

Glittertwins · 03/06/2024 10:40

Same report just in on the maths

so hard to hear isn’t it :(

DramaLlamaBangBang · 03/06/2024 10:46

Oh no @Gazelda . I had a sore throat over the weekend and completely quarantined myself because I was so worried about giving something to DS! Hope your dd is OK and doesn't get it.

Lalux · 03/06/2024 10:52

DS has just texted to say he thought it was ok and not a disaster. This was Edexcel so will take that.

Thereisalwaysanothertime · 03/06/2024 10:56

Anyone doing igcse edexcel maths higher? Waiting to hear. Think it finishes at 11.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 03/06/2024 10:57

Any aqà paper 2? Getting nothing from DS although he's on his way home ( spy app!)
