Ds wasn't happy with history today. He said it was hard and didn't go into anymore detail. I'm not sure which board it was but he had Elizabethan and Cold War.
No exams tomorrow hooray. Lots of biology revision.

StarShipControl · 04/06/2024 23:56

@Cudafrog so sorry to hear about your ds. Awful luck! Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Countrylife2002 · 05/06/2024 07:10

@Cudafrog sorry for your DC, it must be so stressful not knowing how it will work out. Hopefully as so late in the process they will still get the same grades.

Countrylife2002 · 05/06/2024 07:13

Here, I definitely feel that once geography is done today it will feel better. Can’t revise for English lang and apparently not really for geog paper 3 (and apparently not for maths either 😳) so it’s just the sciences and another history . And she uses Seneca for the sciences so I’m only involved in flash cards for history (which is the main thing !) DD woke up really happy - strange!

gingercat02 · 05/06/2024 07:18

We had a moment last night, too. I went in for my usual pre bed chat to be told maybe things hadn't really gone as well as he thought they did!
I have no idea where it came from. He's been OK until then. Hopefully, it's just a wobble.
Geography and Business today. GL all.

gingercat02 · 05/06/2024 07:20

So sorry @Cudafrog what a dreadful thing to happen. Hope dc is better soon

Waspie · 05/06/2024 08:08

Cudafrog · 04/06/2024 23:03

Unfortunately DC is sadly properly unwell. Missed a couple of papers already this week and the rest of the week is looking very unlikely. Can't think beyond that just now. It's just an awful conclusion after months of work. Gutted and very worried about the final outcome. Has done a lot of crying and I'm trying my best not to.

How awful. I hope your child feels better soon Flowers

Good luck to those doing business and biology today.

Nothing for DS today. He's still sleeping. First day of study leave today. He will do some language and biology later though (I hope!)

Waspie · 05/06/2024 08:09

Sorry , business and geography today. Not sure where biology came from! Good luck to them - fingers crossed.

Lalux · 05/06/2024 08:24

Sorry to hear that @Cudafrog. Heartbreaking for them (and you).

Good luck to everyone again today.

Zubomama · 05/06/2024 08:31

ComingInByAnsible · 04/06/2024 21:17

DS is thoroughly fed up with the whole thing now. Struggling to keep going. It really seems a test of endurance.

Same here. Refusing to do science practice and just totally fed up and wasting time rather than revising...much busier making Spotify playlists!

Zubomama · 05/06/2024 08:34

@Cudafrog I'm so sorry, sounds very stressful. Hang in there.

Cudafrog · 05/06/2024 08:37

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately not sitting these exams feel much worse than sitting them. It's the unknown of potential grades and the huge dissatisfaction of not actually crossing the finishing line.

Hope Geography goes well today for everyone sitting it.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 05/06/2024 08:47

@Cudafrog sorry to hear that. It does feel worse standing by and watching than doing them yourself. Poor DC. Have the school said what they will do?

Cudafrog · 05/06/2024 08:51

If anyone on this thread has been through something similar in previous years, I would be interested to hear how it worked out. School have been supportive and said they will take it into account/look at mocks for Sixth Form if necessary. DC has maybe only ever had one or two sick days from school at most. Such bad timing.

MonkeyTennis34 · 05/06/2024 09:00

@Cudafrog
How awful for you all. I hope the school offers you a positive outcome.

ComingInByAnsible · 05/06/2024 09:09

Your poor DC, @Cudafrog. Hope they feel better soon and hope things work out well for them in the end Flowers

newmum1976 · 05/06/2024 09:21

@Cudafrog did his first papers go well in the papers he will miss? If so, you don’t have anything to worry about as they will
base it on those. He should come away with the results he deserves, unless there was an issue with his first papers. Good luck to him.

CactusPeach · 05/06/2024 09:45

I hope your child gets better soon @Cudafrog the uncertainty must be so stressful and also frustrating, especially considering how few sick days they've had. I hope your child gets a fair result.

@Cudafrog I hope your yp gets better soon and that you have some answers soon. Must be a horrible stressy time for you all

TinfoilTangerine · 05/06/2024 11:13

It's horrible timing Cudafrog and so unfair when they have worked hard. Hope DC feel better soon.

Have mostly been ok. A bit of writers block/panic for one of the questions in English Language paper 1 which is usually the stronger paper so a bit worried about that but hopefully it will be a pass even if it's not what they thought they could have achieved.
Thank you to everyone for your supportive comments. They have really helped.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 05/06/2024 11:36

@Cudafrog I'm so sorry to hear about your DS being poorly. My Nephew got very ill during his A levels last year and missed at least three of his exams. He had to get doctors notes to get special consideration. I think what happened in the end was they averaged out his marks based on the papers he did sit. If you haven't taken him to the doctor then do so ASAP and also inform the school.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 05/06/2024 11:39

Oh and, of course, hopefully he is feeling better very soon. Flowers

Thank you, school are aware of situation, have been to the GP and medication prescribed which I hope is now starting to help.
Don't want to distract with another discussion on this thread but unfortunately where we live the Health Board do not issue medical notes for schoolchildren as a matter of policy. Apparently the exam board has to trust the school when it comes to special consideration. This is also adding to the element of overall stress as you can imagine!
