Oh no sorry to hear @Panarycatty. Not sure what happens if they are ill, can their predicted grade be used? If it's their best subject that could help! Either way, hope they feel better soon.

Ds thinks he'll be fine only knowing a couple of the poems really well. Argh. I'm hoping luck is on his side.

DS revised just 4 poems in detail, having done some complicated analysis on the possible themes. He worked out that unless the question is on Pride or Identity, he should be fine. Seems a bit of a gamble to me, but what do I know....

Just waiting to hear from both daughters how today went, one doing ggcse English lit, the other doing a level sociology. I'm keeping everything crossed it has gone ok

My DD isn’t allowed her phone on at school
so I’ve got to wait til 4pm to hear how it went. Hoping to pick up from this thread whatever questions were so I can get a feel for how she will have found it 😬

Don’t forget there will be kids working from different exam boards though! Mine is doing Jekyll and Hyde, Inspector Calls and unseen poetry today.

Mine is doing Lord of the Flies, Power and Conflict poetry and unseen today - I think that is AQA?

Do check with school whether you need any evidence (doctors note etc)

If it is a confirmed absence under the rules then what they do is they make a grade from the other exams in this subject. So it will all be on paper 1.

At least that is what I understand from the info we got pre exams.

We are aqa here so "an inspector calls" and poetry today

P+C poem was kamikaze and how conflict affects other people
Inspector Calls was either a Mrs Birling Q or how the Inspector is used for social change.
Love and relationships poem was neutral tones.

This is AQA - don't know about the others.

DD did Lord of the Flies and said the theme question was on Leadership - she seemed pleased with that. No response on the poetry front!

@Thisisreallyweird DS also has Economics on Friday.

DS is already half-way though his exams. Only 10 left. Their school also started the exams early.

Silence from DD so far!

DD was dreading the exam but said it was “alright” (edexcel) she didn’t understand the unseen poetry but the main poem was “Manhunt” for Love and relationships, which we looked at together yesterday!

DS had AQA AIC and Power and Conflict. Very happy with poem choice. He feels he ran out of steam a bit for the unseen poem but thinks he did OK, although a bit worried that grade boundaries will be high. Hope it went well for everyone.

Anyone know what the unseen poem was for AQA?

Apparently the other unseen poem was A day in autumn. My Dd said she loved these poems! But the Anthology poem was Kamikaze which is her least favourite. Funny as that was DSs favourite!
