I hope maths today is okay, it's always been one of the hardest subjects for her.

@Paperclipp It's a state school, there's no study leave at all until the very last week which my Dd has no exams in anyway. They do after school revision sessions, if an exam in the morning they'll be a morning session on that subject, half term sessions and Saturday interventions with tutors that are brought in for selected students.

Tiredalwaystired · 03/06/2024 12:57

Just to say study leave isn’t only for private schools - my daughter is at a state comp and she gets it.

yes state school here.
Most have been on study leave since first exam, but some are on in school study or hybrid to support them. (dd is in every day)

They are having their 'last day of school' on June 14th after the physics exam, as they all have to be there for that, so last moment they are all together.

StarShipControl · 03/06/2024 13:04

Ds found edexel higher difficult but better than paper 1. He missed about 4 questions completely.

Good vibes @Gazelda hope you're better soon and Dd doesn't get it.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 03/06/2024 13:10

My DS also at a state school but was on study leave from the beginning of May.

TrixieFatell · 03/06/2024 13:12

No study leave here either, state school. She has an official leavers day 20th but won't be going in after her last exam which is the 13th.

Waspie · 03/06/2024 13:21

DS is at a state school and they are getting study leave from Wednesday this week. Leavers assembly is after Physics on Friday 14th.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 03/06/2024 13:37

Ds is at a state school. Study leave from half-term with some optional revision sessions.

Zubomama · 03/06/2024 13:38

State school here too and been on study leave since the first week of exams. Has some good and bad aspects to this...lack of structure and 100% reliance on self-motivation not great for DS (ADHD) but at least he can sleep in and focus on topics he finds hardest.

Tebheag · 03/06/2024 14:09

Not heard from DS fingers crossed that's a good sign! He had Spanish revision so his first day of study leave and he has to stay at school nearly all day.

Newlease · 03/06/2024 14:12

State school here as well, study leave since started exams ( I can’t get my head around the “name” though. Once you start the exams, it’s days between the exams, not study leave as in school decided to give them day off to learn? )
@JessyCarr thank you, yes. I understand that she works hard and was expecting to get nearly full on this paper. We have Eng and other papers which is not good as Maths, and this is chosen for A lvl. Hopefully it would be okay.
on to Geography and one of the worst for her. Know the content most of the time, but wouldn’t be able to finish writing. I have to say it has improved a lot since I posted last time about it x
good luck to everyone doing History tomorrow x

gingercat02 · 03/06/2024 14:20

@Newlease We had proper study leave 2 weeks off to revise lie in the sun listening to the radio before the exams started.

LighthouseCat · 03/06/2024 14:43

AQA maths today was ok. DD felt it was tougher than Paper 1. She did leave a couple out that she just couldn't figure out in time and is unsure about several others. But definitely could have been worse.
Cramming as much Cold War content into her brain now.

newmum1976 · 03/06/2024 16:01

Thereisalwaysanothertime · 03/06/2024 11:20

Heard that it was ok. First 20 questions were good and straight forward. The last 5 were tough.

DD said much better than paper 1. She could “even answer the 5 markers! “

Wehaditsogood · 03/06/2024 16:13

DS said igsce Maths "went well". I will never find out any details.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/06/2024 16:14

Dd also said Edexel higher paper 2 was easier than paper 1.

Curlyshabtree · 03/06/2024 16:20

OCR Higher here. DTD said it went “extremely well”. She marked herself harshly and reckons she got 87/100.
DTS gave it a 6/10 and said it was ok. DTS desperate to ditch Maths forever so this time next week it will all be over! Bring it on!

Countrylife2002 · 03/06/2024 16:47

DD also found edexcel higher much better than paper 2. Has been getting a 6, wants a 7. Worst subject by some way. Will be glad when it’s over !

Full focus on history now, glad it’s an afternoon exam! And then last minute push on geography tomorrow eve!

Spacecowboys · 03/06/2024 16:48

Dc very happy with maths higher aqa paper 2. Next one geography on wed.

Good luck to your DD. My DD is doing both geog and history- not many people do. 6 exams in total, so a real slog.

gingercat02 · 03/06/2024 17:31

AQA higher maths was OK, answered more questions than he expected to 🤔
Currently up to his eyes in history
DS does history and geography as do a lot of his friends so not uncommon in our school

Muchtoomuchtodo · 03/06/2024 17:33

No exams here today.

Ds is at a state school and has been on study leave since May 10th with no revision sessions on offer. It varies so much!

@Gazelda fingers crossed for your dd staying well. We’ve only had covid once in this house. One of us tested positive but not the other three, we didn’t quarantine the lurgied one either so there is hope.

@Thereisalwaysanothertime our ds takes montelukast, fexofenadine, murine eye drops and beconase nasal spray to control his hayfever. That combined with drying his laundry indoors, not opening his bedroom window and showering as soon as he gets in just about keeps it at bay. We start the medication from the beginning of May too, before his symptoms start.

bluefineliner · 03/06/2024 18:26

So DD said Edexcel higher paper 2 was 'so good, I answered all the questions' thank goodness!! She said it was much better than paper 1 and it has restored her hope for A level maths, even though is may be a lower grade in August.

Now the focus in on history tomorrow then a day off.

Glad she isn't doing geography too, she did 2 languages which are over and done with now.

LighthouseCat · 03/06/2024 18:29

Great to hear paper 2 went well @bluefineliner!

Philandbill · 03/06/2024 18:34

Another one done thank goodness. DD said it was ok. She's aiming for a 7 and has put the work in so I really hope she gets that.
