Did it have a cone as the last question.

@Mocha1978 which exam board for maths?

AQA

JessyCarr · 17/05/2024 21:49

@Stylinson sorry to hear about your DD’s mishap in Geography. I hope she’s not too upset.

JaninaDuszejko · 17/05/2024 22:44

AQA Chemistry (single) OK here. Which is good because it's a possible A level. She spent yesterday afternoon doing last minute revision with her friend's Mum who is the Head of Chemistry at school which is handy!

Only 3 exams here next week (English Lang and Lit plus Physics) but the week after half term is very busy with Maths, History, Spanish, English and Biology. Never mind DD I can't cope. Can't believe I've got 4 years of this (DDs are just a school year apart which has been brilliant up to now but not for exams).

StarShipControl · 18/05/2024 07:20

Poor ds was going through his 15 poems yesterday evening. Out of all the syllabus for every subject, I think the poems is the most ridiculous. 15 is really crazy.
Today will be some computer science and physics. Back to English and Inspector Calls and more poetry tomorrow.

Philandbill · 18/05/2024 07:47

DD is half way through. I think that we'll all be glad when it's half term. We collected DD1 from university yesterday so the dynamic in the house will change too. DD1 id banned from giving any GCSE advice though as hers were cancelled by COVID...

🤣 yes I can imagine what the reaction to that advice might be!

GU24Mum · 18/05/2024 08:08

I've got a 2020 older one too who's been told not to come back from uni til GCSEs have finished! In my defence. it more or less ties in so it's a few days not weeks but I know she'd throw off the relative calm the rest of us trying to achieve!

RachelGreensHair · 18/05/2024 09:17

I woke up at 6am today in a panic as DD wasn't up and then released its not a school day!!

Laserwho · 18/05/2024 09:23

How can people be halfway through already, it's only been a week? My DS has only done 5, 19 left to go and still has 3 and half weeks to go not including half term.

MyOtherProfile · 18/05/2024 10:16

Depends on the subjects, doesn't it? Anyone doing music at our school will have an exam a couple of days after many others have finished.

Depends completely on the subjects and boards. DC has had 7 so far and has 21 in total. It’ll be half way through mid next week.

deuxgarcons · 18/05/2024 10:38

DS said chemistry and geography were good. However, he's said that before and grade hasn't quite matched his thoughts at the time but it is motivating him to keep going so good is great!! Next week we have English Lit P2 (he's certainly not a fan of that!), computing P2 (mainly coding which he doesn't like and not great at!), physics (an A level choice) PE (he loves) and 3 Spanish (hates and I expect it will get zero attention). I would put my money on him being focussed on physics and PE, although he felt the first Eng Lit paper was 'good' so P2 could get some attention. He's still asleep though 🙄

Yes DS had 2 days of art and then RE straight out of the may day BH, so by the time most exams had started, he'd had 3 days of exams, and doesn't finish until June 11th.

Countrylife2002 · 18/05/2024 10:55

DD has a maths tutor today. She’s woken up in a disgusting mood. I usually let this go but she’s pressing all my buttons today .

Countrylife2002 · 18/05/2024 11:19

Well I’ve just gone and bought some baking stuff to make her chocolate chip cookies. Maybe an injection of sugar will sort her out! We’ve an hour space from each other while she’s being tutored (tutor is super calm too so hopefully that will help!).

JessyCarr · 18/05/2024 11:21

Sounds like just what the doctor ordered @Countrylife2002! It’s really relentless for them, isn’t it.

ComingInByAnsible · 18/05/2024 11:24

Hope the cookies help @Countrylife2002! It's really so much pressure. DS is still asleep and I don't expect him to emerge until the afternoon. Last night he asked not to wake him up.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 18/05/2024 11:30

DS is saying he thinks the theme is going to be more ' conflict' than power for the poetry aqa on Monday, but his favourite poems are Ozymandius ( power) My last Duchess ( power) and only charge of the light brigade that's conflict. He knows other war poetry but says they are boring! I just read ' Poppies' and had a tear in my eye. He said its ' boring to study'!

Countrylife2002 · 18/05/2024 11:32

I think me waking her up for maths tutoring after a week like last week was never going to end well!

Popfan · 18/05/2024 12:00

DS is completely refusing to do any Eng lit revision today. I'd just like him to read the poems and have a chat about Inspector Calls. He really isn't going to have much of an idea on Monday which makes me feel sad.

He's really worked hard and is pretty confident with English lang and all the focus with his tutor has been on this to try to make sure a pass was attained on one of the English qualifications. I think he will be fine in English Language (touching all the wood) but he could do okish in English lit I think if he'd just try. I think he's given up on it totally although he says he will do some tomorrow.

Waspie · 18/05/2024 12:02

DS is playing basketball with his friends this morning. Let off some steam. He said he slept well which I'm pleased about. He will do some literature later but says he's happy with the poetry (power and conflict same as Drama's son. He is confident on An Inspector Calls too - although he's not much of a fan of the play itself.

He has now had 9 (including MFL speaking) with 13 still to go. 5 next week although he has two each on Wednesday and Thursday so will have to juggle his revision.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/05/2024 12:15

DD1 woke up in a good mood and is currently making cards for her favourite teachers then will revise in the afternoon. Her English teacher is getting one with Mr Soap in Da Forest 😂.

ComingInByAnsible · 18/05/2024 12:29

DS is finally up. Looking a bit more rested and has started the day by cuddling the cat. Not sure what she thinks of her role as emotional support animal!

We will be one short of halfway at half-term. I can't flipping wait for them to just be over.
