Anyone in the know?

Are most of the exam papers marked by now?

I would have thought they would be to allow time to collate everything and publish results.

Am I right in thinking schools actually receive them on the 23rd?

Just being curious/nosey lol

christmastreefarm · 31/07/2023 18:26

@naughty40me - my dd has said her teachers will know the day before.

PhotoDad · 31/07/2023 18:30

The schools get them the day before to upload them into the systems which are used to issue them to students/parents. But only the exams team and SLT are allowed to see them. Teachers tend to find out about an hour before the students, so they can be on hand with advice etc. Leaking the information is a big, big, deal (certainly sackable).

StuntNun · 31/07/2023 18:34

I can't calm my DS's results at all with any certainty but I know he studied hard for his exams so I guess whatever he gets is what he deserves.

StuntNun · 31/07/2023 18:34

*call not calm!

MrsHamlet · 31/07/2023 20:56

If the system isn't down, teachers can log in from 5am on results day to see them.

Not at my place! I imagine this varies by school.

PhotoDad · 31/07/2023 21:04

@MrsHamlet Oops, or do you mean on exam-board websites? But they are always down on the day!

We have access to Centre Services if we have asked. I managed it on my phone from the back of beyond in a different time zone once. I was very surprised!

mumonthehill · 02/08/2023 08:54

Ds had a busy July so could forget about results but I think that it is suddenly hitting home and he is stressed. We have a plan A, plan B but suddenly he says he needs a plan C!! Cannot call how he has done at all.

boysmuminherts · 02/08/2023 14:04

@mumonthehill it's also started to worry my DS.... we have a plan A and plan B. We are worried about failing 1 GCSE that he needs....what will be will be.

PhotoDad · 02/08/2023 14:07

It's DS's birthday today (16, he's young for the cohort) and he's hundreds of miles away for a sporting event. We'll be away again on results day, but to be honest he's so busy this summer that we're more worried about his results than he is.

Rowgtfc72 · 02/08/2023 20:21

@PhotoDad happy 16th to your ds.

@boysmuminherts same here. Plan a. Plan b. Just need to pass English with a 3.

StuntNun · 04/08/2023 07:57

DS has forgotten to book time off work to get his results! Confused Does anyone know how long the process takes as he isn't due in work until noon so he might be able to collect them beforehand. They haven't told us what time to come into school yet but I anticipate it will be some time in the morning.

mumonthehill · 04/08/2023 08:18

It is 9 am for us to pick up results. Normally it is a quick process.

Changes17 · 04/08/2023 08:55

We’ve booked a holiday for the final week of the holidays and have just realised if DS doesn’t get his grades he’ll have to go into his new sixth form to do an extra aptitude test while we’re supposed to be away. Needs an 8 for maths, 7 for physics. So no pressure!

That will be fine. Schools tend to open by 10.30 at the latest, from what I have seen generally earlier.
Actually getting them is quick. Queue, take envelope, open envelope. Sorted.

Hersetta427 · 04/08/2023 14:45

Our school is only open from 8am to 10.30. No idea when DD and her freinds plan to meet up and go in yet. Can't quite beleive we have only 3 weeks left until results day.

No summer work for DD really - she is not 16 until after results day so that really puts an end to it. She earns good money during her sports season though as she has two separate officiating qualifications so works pretty constantly at both junior games right the way up to mens professional level when she is not playing herself.

DarkChocHolic · 04/08/2023 21:06

Where are all DDs shopping for 6th form clothes?
Looking for some suggestions for DD who is confused.
DD has a very different body shape compared to her peers who are all skinny.
Shopping is usually quite hard for us so looking for some ideas.
A few friends have suggested blazer from Next.
Usually DD would scoff at clothes from Next saying no one her age buys from there!

christmastreefarm · 04/08/2023 21:37

@DarkChocHolic

Luckily only restrictions for my dd are no hoodies, skimpy tops, tracky bottoms or ripped jeans so she has spent all the money I have her in Urban.

Pretty much everything was sale or 20% off if not so it wasn't too bad.

DD (now at uni) got her stuff from Next and M&S! Not quite sure where my lad will find a nice suit, though.

DS's school doesn't open for results - they are only available online; not sure if that's a blessing or not.

PennywisePoundFoolish · 05/08/2023 04:56

DS2's school doesn't put results online. He's got to write me a letter to collect his, as he's too anxious to collect them himself. (Hes been struggling with severe anxiety all year, his attendance was 50% in Yr11).
Otherwise the results aren't available until school reopens in September.

DS2 hasn't gone anywhere or spoken to school friends at all, though CAMHS are saying they will discharge him as he says he's fine. Apparently the stuff I'm concerned about "would be nice as a parent if he did" (e.g. going out) but not an indication of needing any mental health service input.

That's a shame that Camhs won't support him. We waited for years to get help from camhs but once we got there they've been really good. We have to feel so proud of them doing their GCSEs when things have been so hard for them xx

Do people think all the papers are marked now?
