@confu5ed sorry to hear about Putney. Wishing you all the best for future ones.

We are just back from KGS. DS seemed happy enough and said it was a very general chat, with no unusual questions. Seemed quite long though - around 30 minutes. Was this everyone else's experience too?

Dallasdays · 06/01/2023 16:03

@NellyCortado well done - yes that's similar to us - my DS was in 35 mins...

QuiteAJourney · 06/01/2023 16:09

@NellyCortado we have just come out too. Some 30 minutes for both my DD and her best friend, who were interviewed at the same time. They were running early so they may have got longer as they had more time.

Thanks @QuiteAJourney and @Dallasdays . So far, DS has had 10-15 min interviews at other schools, so this was a bit of a surprise. I should have read the info a bit more closely! Hope interviews went well for your DCs

Daydreamscometrue · 06/01/2023 16:36

Congratulations all who received positive news from G&L and Putney today. Fingers crossed for @confu5ed next week for good news! DS had Whitgift this morning and then over to KGS for interview. He came out beaming and really enjoyed his chat with the Biology teacher who he said was lovely. He was in for about 20 minutes and it was a general chat about what he enjoys. Very positive experience all round at this one.

Does anyone know how many they take to interview for Putney and/or Godolphin? What are the chances of getting in if you got to the interview stage?

EweCee · 06/01/2023 17:19

Wow, KGS interviews seem to have gone well with a friendly and general approach; well done to all who sat them.

DD had an interview with Surbiton this morning and they had the 'general' chat (what subjects to you like the most; what do you like doing at the weekends; what do you value most/ consider constitutes 'hardworking' etc) then they had logic questions (how would you work how out how many bricks there are in a wall etc) and lastly analysis questions based on 1 of 3 data sets they were given to look at whilst waiting (what trends did you notice in the information etc) - 35 mins in total (15 mins with the data and then 20 mins with interviewer). She said the interviewer was lovely and seems happy with it all.

@confu5ed we've just a no from Putney too, so solidarity! Good luck for good news next week.

QuiteAJourney · 06/01/2023 17:26

@EweCee sorry to hear re: Putney.
Well done on Surbiton - it sounds like it went well! It seems that they have managed the process rather well too, which is a good sign.

@EweCee sorry about Putney. And thank you for sharing the interview experience.

Daydreamscometrue · 06/01/2023 17:53

@EweCee sounds like quite an interesting interview all things considered. Sorry to hear about Putney but it sounds like less of a blow after such a good interview experience.

We still have absolutely nothing from Claremont. My DS sat remotely due to us currently residing overseas. Not impressed

hello555 · 06/01/2023 18:15

Has anyone in the past had a clash of scholarship assessment (where you can’t go on an alternative date) and was there any work around? Thanks

momomamiko · 06/01/2023 18:28

Hi All, my second question in a few days on attire (and no I am not obsessed with it but confused 😃). DS is taking St Paul’s second stage exam on Tuesday. School sent an email indicating DC should come wearing their school uniform and our school doesnt have one. So I wrote back asking if pants and jumper would be ok to which they replied: “Uniform is not compulsory; smart dress is also fine.”

What is smart dress for children (in an exam sitting context) if anyone can shed a light pls?

Dallasdays · 06/01/2023 18:30

Just got Kneller / Radnor interview email too. What a busy day of it!

hollyferry · 06/01/2023 18:34

Well done all with interview invites so far. Has anyone heard from Emanuel today?

elevenplusmum22 · 06/01/2023 18:39

@hello555 we had a clash last year as a few co-eds & single sex schools were on sale day. The co-eds were very accommodating.

If most others are in uniform, then I would think an open-necked shirt under a jumper and smartish trousers (not jeans or joggers, perhaps dark chino-style) would hit the mark. As you probably know, “pants” are underwear in the UK!

confu5ed · 06/01/2023 18:50

@Dallasdays Congrats!! We just got the Radnor email too. Phew! Such a relief!

Thank you! I am not from the UK but should have known better 🤣. Hope there is not a big X next to DS’s name already 😅.

hello555 · 06/01/2023 19:04

Thanks @elevenplusmum22. What was the work around? Our clash is sports so a bit tricky to do any other time.

tamu1234 · 06/01/2023 19:04

Congratulations on all the invites back - it is such a relief positive that news is trickling in after such a wait.
For G&L any ideas on the numbers that are interviewed and the ratio to offers?
Also on the process: is it 25min across the two interviews if these are held separately or is it just one interview with both at the same time?
Can G&L parents please throw some light on types of questions asked.

As long as he turns up with trousers over his pants he’ll be fine 😄Good luck to your boy.
