I thought it might be useful for parents of 2023 children taking the 11+ test next school year to have a space to talk everything 11+ - tips on managing stress, approaches to the different papers, ways of relaxing etc.

Let's try and keep it positive and supportive!

Just scanning this thread as this was me last year.

Spotted your post and have made an assumption about which school/s you're applying for as I think it may be the one that my DC now attends.

Not sure if you already have this info, but these are the ranks of the 'furthest admitted' pupils in the past:

2023 CH 499, NHGS 492
2022 CH 345 NHGS 448
2021 CH 388, NHGS 439
2020 - CH 435, NHGS 441
2019 - can't find the figures
2018 CH 417, NHGS 448
2017 CH 366, NHGS to 429
2016 CH 274, NHGS 393
2015 CH 332 NHGS 390
2014 CH 290 NHGS 368
2013 CH 260 NHGS 336

Based on previous results I think you can be pretty confident of a place at NHGS with a ranking of 440 or higher, but in with a chance up to the higher 400s.

Crossleys seems a little less predictable. I think I'd be feeling reasonably confident with a rank of 350 or higher, but as last year's results show it can go even up to the higher 400s.

Anything 500 or beyond I think is not deemed as 'selectable' or whatever terminology they use.

Hope that helps!

Hi, is anyone on hear looking to put down the King’s School in Grantham on their CAF?

Eva44 · 19/10/2023 12:27

@Glad11plusisover we are and possibly Carres though still not decided!

Glad11plusisover · 19/10/2023 12:30

My eldest goes to Carre’s, so if you’ve got any questions fire away, I’ll try and help

Eva44 · 19/10/2023 13:18

Thanks @Glad11plusisover have pm'd you

curiousmamma · 19/10/2023 16:43

Finally got dd's results. It's a pass here. With her score I'm certain she'll get the school she wants. Can't tell you how relieved we all are as we only had the one school to try for and not several like some people.

yoshiblue · 19/10/2023 18:05

How's everyone got on in Trafford? This will be me in a year and thinking of you Mumsnetters.

I've heard of one strong pass and several that have just missed it who I know.

Lime03 · 19/10/2023 19:05

We are Trafford and have a pass thankfully. Been a rollercoaster ride with the delay and glitches with the results. Not heard any more regarding others results as it's gone very quiet in groups.

roratone · 19/10/2023 19:33

@curiousmamma
Well done!
I'd been dipping in here hoping you'd get the pass you were hoping for. DD passed with a solid too. We're going for North Halifax, CH isn't geographically a possibility for us

We’re in Trafford. Strong pass here (I’m not sure what the score is out of, but DC got 399 which i think is strong/comfortable). We didn’t tutor but did do some practice at home using the familiarisation material on the school’s website. Horrible waiting for the results though, made worse by IT glitches 😬

curiousmamma · 19/10/2023 19:37

Thanks. Congratulations to you too. We're going for NH too. DD will actually be passing CH everyday on the bus as it's actually closer to us but dd wasn't that keen on it.

yoshiblue · 19/10/2023 21:15

Congrats to the Trafford lot!

Sleeplessi · 19/10/2023 21:18

Also passes here for Trafford! And the result I saw for Urmston last week was the same today. Unbelievable process - took over an hour from the email to get the website to reveal the results

I know of a lot of surprise results too - think it was a strange paper / year

Oldfriends · 19/10/2023 22:45

Good Trafford pass here! 370 for agsb and we're in catchment ..so pleased!

And yes the IT glitches with the results were a sht shw from the consortium!

11plus2024 · 20/10/2023 07:34

Hi, I hope you don't mind me posting here. I'm a mum with a child sitting their 11+ next year and have created a raw score thread for 2023.

Wondering if any of you are happy to share them, I'd be so grateful.

Thanks so much.

Eastie77Returns · 20/10/2023 19:12

London (Redbridge - Essex border) results today...don't think I've seen anyone else on the thread from around here? DD passed! There is only one Grammar here so just a single exam. You have to score above a certain pass mark in order to be able to select the school when applying. Really confusing because in the run up to the exam I thought the guidance on the site was they were not going use a pass mark this year but I must have misunderstood the text (good job I wasn't sitting the 11+...)

DD said the exam was fairly easy apart from the Verbal Reasoning so I'm expecting marks will be quite high and she may not place in top 180.

Let's see what March brings. We'll put it down as first choice and what will be, will be. I have seen another local secondary I really like so if she doesn't get in it won't be the end of the world. I'm incredibly proud of her for passing in any case.

Congrats to everyone whose DC passed and I also hope alternative plans work out for those of you looking at different options.

Coraline353 · 20/10/2023 19:21

Congratulations @Eastie77Returns great that your DD passed. All the waiting over now!

Questionsquestions134 · 03/11/2023 11:41

In Devon has anyone been able to request the mark from school? They do a Yes/no system. A friends child didn't pass and is thinking of appealing. Thank you.

Justvurious · 10/01/2024 09:20

Anyone feeling like it's the longest wait ever..... my DS's back up school is horrendous! They got a Yes for the school applied for (but no mark) I wish they would let you have more of an indication before.

Does anyone know do the SAT scores have any impact? Someone told me a rumour that they hold places for really high SAT scores (I said I didn't think this could be possible as the SAT results are after the places are allocated)

None at all. Sounds like they have their wires crossed. Like you say, places are done and dusted before SATs results come out. Not to mention all the private school kids applying for grammars who don’t even do SATs.

Quornflakegirl · 10/01/2024 12:31

The whole process of the 11 plus seems to have dragged on forever. My twins sat the exam for 2024 entry and thankfully both did well but waiting to hear seems to be going on for eternity! I can’t wait for March first.

Justvurious · 10/01/2024 12:31

I did say to them I thought it wasn't irrelevant. I wish the wait wasn't so long for confirmed secondary spaces. Confused

Justvurious · 10/01/2024 16:12

Wasn't relevant even
