I thought it might be useful for parents of 2023 children taking the 11+ test next school year to have a space to talk everything 11+ - tips on managing stress, approaches to the different papers, ways of relaxing etc.

Let's try and keep it positive and supportive!

DS' hopeful little face coming out of school and I'm like 'i got nothing for you!'

One of DD's friends did the same. DD has no idea that the results are coming today, she just knows it's "soon".

Coraline353 · 17/10/2023 16:02

Well DS is off to Wembley tonight, leaving in an hour, so that'll take.his mind off things! There's a few of them from his football team going but only one other child sat the exams.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 17/10/2023 16:03

I keep getting reminder emails from Townley about their open evening on Thursday which are NOT helping!!!!!!

11plusdrama · 17/10/2023 16:10

Coraline well would it not be a brilliant night for a kid to get a favourable 11 plus result and a night at Wembley. And if he misses out he still has a brilliant time at Wembley to remember!

Coraline353 · 17/10/2023 16:34

DS passed!!!!

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 17/10/2023 16:48

Congratulations @Coraline353! That's wonderful news. DD unfortunately did not pass so it wasn't meant to be for us.

Idlovetostayhereandbenormal · 17/10/2023 16:49

Congrats Coraline! He really can have a great night now!!

Coraline353 · 17/10/2023 16:50

Sorry to hear that @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon . Hope she's ok.

Idlovetostayhereandbenormal · 17/10/2023 16:58

Sorry to hear that @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon . Do you have other results to come? I hope your DD is ok.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 17/10/2023 17:01

Thanks all. She seems to be OK. We have Kent still to come tomorrow so another day like today to come! @historyrepeatz @11plusdrama @Rinse123 (apologies if I've missed out anyone) how did your DC do?

historyrepeatz · 17/10/2023 17:13

I'm sorry to hear that @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon DS just passed and he's happy. Congrats @Coraline353.

11plusdrama · 17/10/2023 17:14

Unfortunately it is not a pass for us. I don't suppose an appeal 6 marks off will work?

We still have kent.

I am feeling very down about it but not telling my child until tomorrow where I may get a positive kent test but unlikely.

The school he will get it really really poor.

I don't know what to do really.

Surprised as mocks were really high but it is what it is.

good luck to those who passed.

commiserations to those who did not!

historyrepeatz · 17/10/2023 17:19

Sorry to hear that @11plusdrama. I don't know anything about appeals but the Beth's head said that you can apply for them if you pass Kent. Good luck for tomorrow.

Congratulations @historyrepeatz! Hope you have some celebrations planned.

Commissions @11plusdrama. I would have preferred not to tell DD until I knew the Kent result, but all her friends would be talking about it at school tomorrow. I am also fortunate that irrespective of the Kent result tomorrow we also have the option of applying to the Greycoat Hospital, otherwise I'd be feeling quite despondent now. Fingers crossed for us both tomorrow. My DD did come out of the Kent test with a more positive feeling than with Bexley so who knows?

Coraline353 · 17/10/2023 17:41

Sorry to hear that @11plusdrama .

It's the such an awful process. Hope all the kids are ok.

Fellow Trafford parent here - still waiting for both consortium and Catholic results

Just wanted to come on and give a big virtual hug to anyone who didn't get the result they were hoping for. This is a brutal, harsh, process. I've surprised myself with how unsettling I've found this.

Onwards and upwards for all of us

PositivelyBedevilled · 17/10/2023 19:04

DD has passed. She's above the qualifying mark. No idea if it'll be enough to get her a place but I'm so proud of her regardless.

autumncolor · 17/10/2023 19:52

Dd has met the entry requirement by 21 points. Fingers crossed. School has encouraged us to put the school as first choice.

Sleeplessi · 17/10/2023 20:52

@Gobbolinothewitchscat also waiting for Trafford consortium and Catholic results. Have heard St Ambrose might be emailed tomorrow. But have also been hearing that every day since last Weds for Trafford so trying not to think about it
Good luck if it is tomorrow- at least it will all be over soon. I’m feeling similarly unsettled about the whole thing

curiousmamma · 17/10/2023 21:14

Congratulations @Coraline353 @historyrepeatz @PositivelyBedevilled @autumncolor

Commiserations @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon @11plusdrama. I hope you get a positive result with Kent tomorrow. As others have said it is a horrible, brutal process. Education is never wasted though and the preparation you've done will put them in good stead for whichever school they go to.

We're still waiting here. I've no idea if the results are landing tomorrow or Thursday or even Friday or Saturday. I hate the uncertainty most of all.

bobberra · 17/10/2023 22:08

@Gobbolinothewitchscat Trafford here too, although we didn't do the Catholic test as we'd be last category for admission and we're a fair distance away too. Finding this wait tough now, especially after the Urmston fiasco last week which just seems to have got everyone talking about it even more. I just want to know either way. Rumour seems to be that it's going to be Thursday afternoon but I'll be feeling hopeful about hearing something tomorrow too.

Congratulations to those who have already passed and good luck to those still waiting!

I think you maybe right regarding that. St Ambrose apparently came before the Consortium last year.

I am unimpressed (to put it mildly) with how the Consortium exam has been administered; particularly the lack of clear communication generally and a transparent explanation to all about what happened re Urmston.

macaroniart · 18/10/2023 07:14

Kent results today! For this one do we get a score or just pass/fail?

We get a score. For some schools just passing isn't enough you also need to have a high enough score.

Sleeplessi · 18/10/2023 07:35

@Gobbolinothewitchscat definitely agree! It seems much worse than 2 years ago when my DD went through it

Do you know much about the Urmston leak? Were they the actual scores do you think?
