I thought it might be useful for parents of 2023 children taking the 11+ test next school year to have a space to talk everything 11+ - tips on managing stress, approaches to the different papers, ways of relaxing etc.

Let's try and keep it positive and supportive!

Spires have an open morning on the 20th I believe if you want to have a look around. Would be worth doing so. I know some local children that go and really enjoy it. Unfortunately it's not a practical option location wise for us.

11plusmum2023 · 14/10/2023 13:24

@Paddingtonthebear are you sure you are getting them by post? I thought my DC was going to get them by post and then just looked in my junk email folder and there it was.
Sadly for my DC they did not get their preferred school.

Does anyone know if bexley results have ever come out on a Saturday ?!

@Coraline353 said upthread that according to the Chis and Sid head, they were expecting the results to be released on Friday, but there has been a delay and now they are expected on Monday/Tuesday.

I have no idea what this delay is, but I suspect it'll be something that requires manual intervention, so I doubt that the results will be released before Monday at the earliest. Bexley have said all along on their website that the results will be released "by Tuesday 17th".

Bexley aren't due until Tuesday?

historyrepeatz · 14/10/2023 13:36

The information leaflet sent to bexley schools back in April/May said 17th. The council website has always said 17th. Only Chis n Sid has said otherwise. The Beth's head said next week. When Dd sat the test they came on the published date.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 14/10/2023 13:42

They were definitely released earlier last year on the Friday when the published date was a few days later. It'd have been nice if they could have done the same this year, but obviously they haven't been able to.

historyrepeatz · 14/10/2023 13:50

It's definitely a longer waiting period than when Dd did it but it sound like a lot more people took the test. The Beth's head said over 7,000 which would be quite a jump.

It always said "by" 17th which leaves wiggle room for a little earlier. Am resigned to Tuesday now I think. DS doing Beth's open morning on Tuesday too.

Good grief. That's a lot. It is a bit of a peak this year and next time secondary school admissions though isn't it?

Yes definitely postal. Her friends got their letter this morning. And the other 3 schools in the same grammar consortium released their results by email yesterday 🙄.

My daughter really wants Torquay Girls, Im not sure how she would get to Churston as I don't really like the idea of an eleven year old on her own on public transport and I'm sure any school busses are fully booked well in advance. Obviously we would make it work somehow.
I no nothing of the Spires stream so any knowledge you have would be great?
We have the added stress now that our local authority admissions portal isn't accepting any out of area schools so with two weeks to go I am on tenderhooks waiting for them to fix the site!

Can you ring to apply rather than do it online? Churston is a great school and has good results. I only know people that drive but I'm sure the bus network must work well. I imagine you can talk to the school and find out more about it.

CokeZeroPlease · 14/10/2023 14:19

Oh god, this wait is genuinely making me feel Ill, I could cry

Questionsquestions134

Its so frustrating and more than a little worrying.
I finally managed to talk to a human in the admissions department after being told to email only (that incurs a 10 day response time!) and was told its because its a new portal this year and not all schools are on there!
She assured me that she will email me when when the three schools are added but there was no suggestion of doing things any other way!

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 14:32

Did you look under Torbay? It was glitchy when I did the application. Technology is so stressful!

Cokezero I hope you hear soon. It really does feel like forever when your waiting.

movingtodevon1 · 14/10/2023 14:35

Yes, changed authority to Torbay, changed distance to any but no search results showing for any torquay schools and I tried most of them as an experiment.

Ditto. Not expecting ours until Wednesday but it's still not stopped me checking the letterbox every 10 mins! The worst bit is the post has already arrived today and I've still just checked as I walked through the hall!
I think I'm going slowly mad! 🥴

CokeZeroPlease · 14/10/2023 14:50

Yep definitely
it’s more frustrating because you know the papers have been marked and the results are somewhere on a desk / spreadsheet !

I hope they get it sorted out quickly for you

11plusdrama · 15/10/2023 20:51

has anyone in bexley got 11 plus results yet? Are they coming out tomorrow or Tuesday?

Coraline353 · 15/10/2023 21:11

No one's got them yet @11plusdrama .

No idea if it'll be tomorrow or Tuesday. My guy feeling is it'll be Tuesday now.

Paddingtonthebear · 16/10/2023 10:04

No post again today so I have called the school and asked if they can email our results as all her friends found out 2 days ago. Now refreshing my inbox over and over 🤢

Ooh, that's awful. I really feel for you. It was bad enough knowing the school had our results the day before, but relying on post is a nightmare. We're lucky to get post more than once a week.

Would it be worth phoning the local authority and asking them if the school won't/can't help?

Paddingtonthebear · 16/10/2023 10:25

She passed! Ah the relief! 🤪

CokeZeroPlease · 16/10/2023 10:43

Ah well done to your DD @Paddingtonthebear
i am keeping everything crossed that
a. We get bexley results today
b. It’s good news
😭 😭
