I thought it might be useful for parents of 2023 children taking the 11+ test next school year to have a space to talk everything 11+ - tips on managing stress, approaches to the different papers, ways of relaxing etc.

Let's try and keep it positive and supportive!

I didn't want to go before results either but we've got Bexley and Beth's next week and it seemed like a lot of time out of school

sanam2010 · 13/10/2023 16:43

anybody here waiting for Tiffin Girls? Supposed to come "on or around" Monday but I think last year the email came on Friday evening so here I am refreshing emails to no avail

Sleeplessi · 13/10/2023 17:04

Must be such a relief for those getting the results today. We’re still waiting - test was on 5th Sept - and no indication of when they might send them!

JustAnotherUsey · 13/10/2023 17:52

My son passed his 11+ in bucks. He got 143 and pass mark was 121! He's estatic

Good luck to those waiting

The Chis & Sid website had previously been showing that tickets were going on sale on today at 6pm, but this is now showing as going on sale tomorrow at 6pm…does anyone know if results ever come out on a Sat???

I think it depends what day you're booking for. I had intended to book for Monday (assuming a positive result in the test!) and that still says on sale today after 18.00 (as it said previously). I'm now looking at booking for Wednesday and that says on sale on Sunday after 18.00.

macaroniart · 13/10/2023 18:09

Oh I see! That makes sense. Just wish the results had come out today!

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 13/10/2023 18:11

@macaroniart me too!!! The Monday morning open day sessions have now opened for bookings.

DibbleDooDah · 13/10/2023 19:03

My DD in Bucks has also passed. I won’t post her score as all you need is 121 so anything higher is kind of irrelevant (and a higher score doesn’t give you priority or a higher chance of getting in).

She did really well but she’s the only one from her school who passed. Several kids who you could have almost guaranteed to pass (and were heavily tutored) didn’t pass so there’s real shockwaves tonight.

Paddingtonthebear · 13/10/2023 19:12

Congrats to all! We’re in a large primary. More than half the class apparently sat the test, and there are 5 other Y6 classes too, so imagine it’s similar across the year group. I’ve heard at least 5 boys from our class alone got a pass today, the girls are all waiting for results

Questionsquestions134 · 13/10/2023 21:40

I have been surprised by some that haven't passed. I guess hard to know how the stress of the day effects them. Well done for the passes so far.

Have you heard of many that didn't pass in Torbay this year?
All I'm seeing online is a sea of three ticks? My daughter thankfully also received three yes's

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 08:18

50/50 and some getting ticks for Churston and Spires but not Torquay so must be a different scoring system I assume. I guess a lot of people are sharing the positive results. The others amount friend's?

I have been genuinely surprised by a couple (very high performing girls and boys) that didn't pass. Assume the content of the exam threw them.

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 08:19

Amongst sorry. Darn autocorrect!

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 08:30

Also well done to your daughter :)

Idlovetostayhereandbenormal · 14/10/2023 08:33

Well done to those whose DC have passed and good luck to those still waiting. I’m getting nervous now as DS didn’t think his exam went brilliantly…

Thats very interesting as I was beginning to think It was an easy pass year judging by the results shared online!
As my user name suggests we are moving into area and coming from a non grammar town had no clue what we were doing! My poor daughter wandered into those exams totally un prepared having only self studied from two revision books I brought her off amazon! She came out shell shocked and was convinced she had failed so we had tears all round on Thursday when that email dropped in!

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 10:41

It's interesting. I'm not sure where my sons friends that failed went wrong. One was flying through the mocks before the test. I do think the actual test was quite different from the mocks from what my DS told me though. As I said we didn't start until before the summer holidays studying. Well done to your daughter :)

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 10:42

Where are you seeing results shared online?

Mostly of facebook pages, have been snooping on the torbay tutors pages Blush
The long thread was on Jane powell 11+ tutoring

Questionsquestions134 · 14/10/2023 12:39

I don't blame you. She is one of the well known tutors around I believe. Also she does a lot of sessions and has a high historic success rate. I know a few children are going to Churston. I guess depends on which school the ✅ children wish to apply for as well.

movingtodevon1 · 14/10/2023 12:50

My daughter really wants Torquay Girls, Im not sure how she would get to Churston as I don't really like the idea of an eleven year old on her own on public transport and I'm sure any school busses are fully booked well in advance. Obviously we would make it work somehow.
I no nothing of the Spires stream so any knowledge you have would be great?
We have the added stress now that our local authority admissions portal isn't accepting any out of area schools so with two weeks to go I am on tenderhooks waiting for them to fix the site!

CokeZeroPlease · 14/10/2023 13:02

Does anyone know if bexley results have ever come out on a Saturday ?!

Paddingtonthebear · 14/10/2023 13:06

Our post hasn’t arrived today. Everyone else has their result here except us. 🥴

Paddingtonthebear · 14/10/2023 13:06

We are not Bexley btw!
