Hello everyone, here is a shiny new thread ready for DC’s results day tomorrow and a much needed hand hold for us nervous parents. 🥴🤪

Tomorrow is the culmination of an incredibly turbulent 2 year journey that our young people have had to navigate. Fraught with ups and downs. They have done us all proud!!

Great results there @QueenMabby did you feel like Sunderland being the first to declare? 😆

MaryJoLisa · 25/08/2022 08:21

We were told 8am online. Nothing as yet...

Rollergirl11 · 25/08/2022 08:21

@QueenMabby well done to your DS! What a weight off. Is he happy?

Ref weather for Reading, it’s literally been raining all night. But it’s meant to stop around 1pm and then dry and warm for the remainder of the weekend. Hoping that means DD escapes getting wet as I don’t think they will get there till around 3.00 or 4.00. 🙏🤞

@QueenMabby wow, a great set of results to start us off...well done to your DS!

ShanghaiDiva · 25/08/2022 08:23

@QueenMabby
congratulations on your son’s results! What an excellent start to the day!

MirandaWest · 25/08/2022 08:24

@QueenMabby congratulations 😂

@MumofSpud i am obviously more stressed than I thought!

zen1 · 25/08/2022 08:24

Late to the party, but DS has to go into school to get his at 10.00. Starting to feel a bit nervous.

HelloDaisy · 25/08/2022 08:25

OldWivesTale · 25/08/2022 07:55

Weather for Leeds looks OK, I think. Not sure about Reading.

I live in Reading and the rain has been torrential for a few hours now!

MirandaWest · 25/08/2022 08:25

It feels everyone except DD and her close friends have come out of the building - come on DD!

Naem · 25/08/2022 08:25

Took a while for the computer to log in - but we have results too:
Biology - 8
Maths - 7
Chemistry - 7

Those are the key ones, as that means she can take Biology and Maths at 6th form.

Physics - 6

Geography - 6
English lang - 6
English lit - 6

MFL - 9 (that was the one she messed up the oral with the travel agent, so can't understand it)
French - 8
other - 7

CornishGem1975 · 25/08/2022 08:26

Ooh my nerves have just really kicked in. DD is at school now.

CupboardOfThings · 25/08/2022 08:28

Why does dc want to go in at 11?? They are up and about, have checked grade boundaries, but is faffing avoutnwoth their hair and outfit for the free nando's later. Argh. I am all a tither.

FAQs · 25/08/2022 08:29

@legosunqueen sadly it’s also Aqa physics, Btec and CTEC still missing for thousands. But hope all your GCSE children get what they want and if they don’t it’s not the end of the world.

Rollergirl11 · 25/08/2022 08:31

Well done @Naem ! Glad she got what she needed for 6th form!

She’s out and I have the thing of comforting her because two friends got all 9s and she got nine 9s and two 8s. She’s just been sitting in the car for a bit.

I know this is a ridiculous thing but it would have been good if friends could have not got all 9s….

Her 8s were in maths (not unexpected) and English literature (slightly unexpected)

TattiePants · 25/08/2022 08:34

Morning all. Not the best nights and I think I finally dozed off after 2. 90 minutes to go here, good luck everyone.

MirandaWest · 25/08/2022 08:34

She’s now doing marks comparison with friends

Princessdebthe1st · 25/08/2022 08:36

DD has just left to get to school for just before 9am. She should do well but needs high grades for the selective sixth form that is her first choice. She has stomach ache and I feel sick. Hopefully we will both feel better soon! Good luck to all DCs (and anxious parents)!

MumofSpud · 25/08/2022 08:37

Just went in to wake DD (09:00 email here) - she was still snoring and said grunted that she had slept v well (I fell asleep at 3 and was awake at 5!)
Raining so much here - Was thinking that at least the ground will be softer for tent pitching - then remembered they don't have that sort of tent!
Am all over the place!

Graff · 25/08/2022 08:38

@MirandaWest we got all 9’s and one unexpected 8 in English lit here too. DD is laughing about it tho.

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 25/08/2022 08:39

Grade boundaries out. They may just be in our favour. 20 minutes to go !!

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 25/08/2022 08:39

Graff · 25/08/2022 08:38

TheOnlyMrsW · 25/08/2022 08:40

Fab results @MirandaWest @QueenMabby @Naem DD is awake and checking grade boundaries after telling me she didn't want to know!!!!

I wish she'd decide whether to go earlier or not - I could be writing a shopping list but daren't leave the phone for a second 😆

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 25/08/2022 08:41

QueenMabby · 25/08/2022 08:12

Am I the first to report?

All passed and he’s in for 6th form.
Maths - 9
Eng lit - 9
Biology - 8
Chem - 8
Physics -8
Eng lang - 8
Geog - 8
ICT - 8
History -6
Spanish - 4

Spanish a bit disappointing as he got a 6 in his mock but it’s still a pass and he hated every minute of it so all good!
Off into school for the official paper now.

Awesome !

zighead · 25/08/2022 08:47
