Eng lang and biology here today too. Dd is bright but dyslexic and dreading English, but cool as a cucumber about biology.
On a previous thread, I mentioned her distress after paper 1 eng lit, which is almost definitely a fail. She felt she did well in paper 2 but not good enough to pass overall. Paper 1 of language went really well and she was literally elated after it, but she was struggling to feel optimistic last night. Went to her beloved sport training in need of that endorphin release from seeing her friends, exercise etc.
This morning she went to sch with a defeated expression on her face, and my words of encouragement didn't seem to register. She's aiming for a 5, so she doesn't have to resit, and it would also give her a plan b for 6th form choices if she doesn't get the required grades in one of her other subjects.
She was only diagnosed as dyslexic last summer, and school wouldn't acknowledge the diagnosis until Jan this year, so she has only had a few months of intensive support both from sch and tutoring. But the progress she has made is huge imo. She just can't see it, focusing on the parts she still finds difficult.
Fingers crossed for a paper that suits her, some of the sample ones are horrible, some not so bad.
I keep thinking, I can't wait for the exams to be over, but know I will then go into countdown mode until results day.
Like other pp's, in two yrs time I will have both GCSE and a levels going on in our house, and if this is anything to go by, I'd like to move into someone else's house for that year please.
Any takers? I'm a good cook but less keen on cleaning...
