Tabby star -thx, Dd edexcel igcse and it’s only 2 papers wonder what the difference is?

TheStirrer · 06/06/2019 12:47

For those who found it ok was this Edexcel IGCSE? My daughter said it was really hard and she’s in top set. Apparently everyone said it was difficult so at least she can take some comfort in that!
Anyway it’s over now ... I think edexcel IGCSE is only 2 papers

myrtleWilson · 06/06/2019 12:48

Dd messaged me this morning once she was up "I've got maths this morning but I don't know whether to go" after a few wtf moments from me it transpired she was referring to an early revision session not her actual exam Grin

Won't hear how they've gone until end of the day as she's being super vigilant about not taking her phone in.

Arewedone · 06/06/2019 12:51

Thestirrer- we are igcse edexcel. Dd also top set and said last few questions were impossible, moreso from the wording. Seems to have stumped all her year group!

TheStirrer · 06/06/2019 12:57

Are we done - always reassuring to find out others found it tough as well. Daughter just relieved to have the maths over with now. She’s off shopping with a friend for outfits for creative awards evening on Saturday so I won’t hear anything more until tonight!
Eng Lang - creative writing & Biology tomorrow both of which she hates!!!!! Roll on the weekend!

Bonkus · 06/06/2019 12:57

Another IGCSE Edexcel here - same feedback from DS. Last 4 or so questions were impossible! Apart from those, he said was better than paper 1...

TabbyStar · 06/06/2019 13:01

My ok was just about the Edexcel GCSE not the IGCSE.

Iambuffy · 06/06/2019 13:23

Ds will be in history now (wibble)

McFarts · 06/06/2019 13:27

De lurking, been following this thread for a couple of weeks.

My DD really struggled the edexcel Maths this morning, she has Autism and severe anxiety, she walked out and didnt do the last question. Im assuming it must have been a very difficult exam, she is top set maths and predicted a grade 8.

NoClueWithStyle · 06/06/2019 13:29

Iambuffy
Dd is also aqa maths but I haven't heard yet how it went. She was hopeful it would go well, as it's a calc paper and she prefers those. She is hoping to do it for A level so needs a 7 as a minimum.

I'm desperate to hear how it went. No exams for dd this afternoon but eng lang is her least favourite and paper 2 tomorrow, so she was going to access some support with that.

clary · 06/06/2019 13:42

It's not down to the exam boards, all English language exams (for example) are on the same day to avoid clashes! I gather there is variation in science as there is an exam which only has four papers, but other than that I am still confused.

SilentSister · 06/06/2019 13:47

Ds will be in history now (wibble) Iambuffy Wibble indeed.

In fact, I have decided to drive in to collect DD this pm, she usually comes home on the train. Can't bear the suspense Blush.

SilentSister · 06/06/2019 13:48

Ha ha ha - Now I am really worried DD liked the Edexcel IGCSE Maths. Hope it is not a case of breezing through because she actually got everything wrong. Believe me, it has happened before Shock.

Iambuffy · 06/06/2019 13:50

It's an a level choice for ds silent
(Double wibble)
I'm taking ds and picking him up from school during exams.
He's very tired, and was up revising told 10.30pm last night.

clary · 06/06/2019 13:52

Aha I see some of you are talking about IGCSE which is different

TabbyStar · 06/06/2019 13:59

McFarts

When I say DD found the paper fine we probably have lower expectations than you! She might get a 7 at a push but definitely not an 8 or 9 so don't worry!

TabbyStar · 06/06/2019 14:01

I'm taking ds and picking him up from school during exams.

We live over the road from the school. It's a blessing now but not so much when DD used to forget things and it seemed churlish not to nip out and take them (whilst pretending to the receptionist she was not texting me from school!)

MollyButton · 06/06/2019 14:01

@myrtleWilson, I know that feeling DD texted me on Tuesday: Could I collect her because she was done with Business Studies. Turned out she meant the revision session not the exam after it; and had forgotten I was 50 miles away for work.
I hope her Maths went okay, she hadn't done much revision since the last paper. History this afternoon Superpowers and AngloSaxons I think.

D0ubleTheJoy · 06/06/2019 14:05

We're doing AQA maths, 2nd of 3 papers, last one next week. DS2 says it went well this morning, yet to hear from DS1.

Last English Language tomorrow, kids looking forward to the end of that!

All the second papers for the sciences still to come.

MaddieElla · 06/06/2019 14:06

DD said AQA higher maths was good. She managed the last question and unless the whole of Twitter is wrong then she got it correct.

History now, she was more stressed about knowing everything for that.

Iambuffy · 06/06/2019 14:09

Same here double

doublechocadooberry · 06/06/2019 14:11

My DS took the Edexcel maths and really struggled also. He was hoping for a 6; he felt paper 1 went better. I didn't want to press for too much info from him as he is so worried about history which is an A-level choice.

It is a little confusing with the different exam boards.

pikapikachu · 06/06/2019 14:22

Dd did Edexcel GCSE maths higher and said paper 2 had some hard questions but it went well. She's in history right now and has Biology and English tomorrow.

marmiteloversunite · 06/06/2019 14:29

My DD did edexcel GCSE higher paper. Found it terribly hard and didn't finish. The teachers warned them as they went in that it was a very hard paper!Confused

Every day feels like a battle. Can we finish now please?!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 06/06/2019 14:33

clary ds does mainly igcse. He is also only doing double science (thank god) hence no second papers.

His maths was edexcel higher igcse. He texted to say he was going to write edexcel a letter thanking them for a good paper - now worried that he found it easy because he misunderstood everything Grin
