11+ waiting for results

Mumoftwinsandanother · 13/09/2018 14:46

Hi there

My twins have both taken the 11+ in Bucks today. Results come out on 13th October, I think. It could really go either way for both of them. My biggest fear is that one gets in and the other does not (really quite possible).
Saw that last year there was a thread from parents during the waiting period and I wondered if anyone wanted to take part in a hand holding thread this year (for any county). Obviously have to be very careful what I say to DTs so would be useful to vent here.

Anyone else in similar position?

OP posts:

Mixed feedback at the school gate this morning- only one other parent logged in and they were being secretive about the scores (possibly so as not to make me feel worse Blush) - other parents who didn't get in were just complaining about difficulty of the maths paper and suggesting the average score this year will be low. Lots didn't manage to finish the paper.

totallyliterally · 08/10/2018 15:16

Just to confirm people in Essex found out their scores yesterday??? That aren't meant to be out till next Tuesday???

crisscrosscranky · 08/10/2018 15:22

@totallyliterally there seemed to be a glitch with the system that let you log in via the registration link and the scores were at the bottom of the registration link. No final standardised scores though - just he actual marks out of 60 (which in my DD's case were lower than expected- particularly so in maths; nearly 20% lower!)

totallyliterally · 08/10/2018 15:47

@crisscrosscranky oh wow, just seen in the 11+ forum.

Not sure if it's better or worse to know as you still don't know the standardised score

One more week to go

Holidayshopping · 08/10/2018 16:26

I wonder how many people actually got in and saw their scores-it can’t have been many?!

totallyliterally · 08/10/2018 16:30

If you look on the 11+ forum for Essex there are some and I'm guessing for each person they then told friends. Who knows.

I've decided I'm glad I don't know 🤷‍♀️ (not that I have a choice now to find out 🙄😬 )

Holidayshopping · 08/10/2018 20:13

I’m not sure if I’m glad I know or not!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 09/10/2018 10:18

That Essex mix-up is bonkers!

We're waiting for Reading School results. This "mid-October" deadline is driving me nuts 😆 I'm guessing it means anywhere between say the 13th October, to the 18th..? Would you think that?

Holidayshopping · 09/10/2018 10:42

That’s crazy-why not just give you a date!

Ours opens at ‘start of business’ on the 15th. Not sure if that’s 8.30 or 9? Their opening hours are 9.30-3.30 though, so it could be later!

Gizlotsmum · 09/10/2018 10:51

Ours get posted ( no login) on the 12 th so could know on the Sat or have to wait till the Monday!

Soomaa · 09/10/2018 12:42

I'm back, too.
Tried my best not to think about the results for the last weeks.

We expect our first letter on Friday. Hopefully with good news for both boys.
The results for the other test will be posted anytime in October. Hmm I think last time they came around the 20th.

Congrats to the child who get in (sorry, I'm bad with namesBlush)!!!Flowers

MrsTWH · 09/10/2018 18:15

Us too @WhatsGoingOnEh - driving me mad not knowing when!
Looking historically, could be this Friday 12th up to Tues 16th?

Mumski45 · 09/10/2018 20:23

Fingers crossed for tomorrows results for DS2. Have been told that the email should be out relatively early in the morning. Cant get it out of my head.

Soomaa · 09/10/2018 20:33

Fingers crossed for you, Mumski45

moonbells · 09/10/2018 21:01

We're waiting on Bucks, with the huge caveat that we won't get results at the same time as everyone else as DS was ill and we had to defer. In fact they can't even tell us when it will be... just says after the main postings. Argh!

Good luck to everyone waiting...

Holidayshopping · 09/10/2018 21:31

It’s very stressful-I really nice need to find something to take my mind off it!

All the best for tomorrow!

treezylover · 09/10/2018 22:44

@mumski45 I think we’re waiting for the same school. I’m a lurker on the 11 plus forum and am preparing for a sleepless night as my twins took the test and as the OP said - worst case scenario is that one passes and one doesn’t. Plus my husband is ridiculously laid back about the whole thing! Good luck for tomorrow, I thought the results were via post so thanks for the heads up to look for an email.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 09/10/2018 22:54

@MrsTWH Sympathetic group hug!

Looking historically, could be this Friday 12th up to Tues 16th?

Would it be over the weekend? Argh, this is torturous! 😂 AND we won't even know if they've even got a place, just that they won't be laughed out of Berkshire if we put it down on the admissions form.

What will be, will be...

MrsTWH · 09/10/2018 23:09

No, won’t be at the weekend. But dates have ranged from 12th-16th in previous years. So I’m hoping for Thurs/Fri this week as it’s killing me!

Mumski45 · 10/10/2018 00:14

@treezylover good luck for tomorrow. I can't sleep so came down for a cuppa. Passed DS2's room and saw the light go off as I went past so went in and he was awake reading as he couldn't sleep either. We had a quick cuddle and laughed at each other and hopefully he is settling now.

treezylover · 10/10/2018 07:40

Ah poor DS- I hope he’s not too anxious this morning? I think mine have forgotten. I feel like the odds are stacked against mine- I only even considered putting them through it in July, they’ve had no tutoring. Plus I suffered an injury two weeks before it so was zero use 🙄. My husband had to take them on the morning and said there were loads of kids in one uniform- I’m assuming they will be from a private school and will have had years of prep for this? I’m preparing myself that they’ll be going to the local massive school- do you have knowledge of it @mumski45? I hear such mixed reviews and am terrified of particularly one of them being in such a massive place 😣

treezylover · 10/10/2018 08:56

Sorry @mumski45 I’ve just remembered you’re OOC I think, please ignore me my head is up my arse!

Mumski45 · 10/10/2018 10:38

Yes we are OOC so not familiar with the other local schools.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 10/10/2018 10:39

I've only just found this, I'm in Bucks and my nails and stomach are not finding this last fews days very good for them at all. My older DS took it 4 years ago and I don't remember being this nervous about it!

Mumski45 · 10/10/2018 15:58

Well he did it. DS2 will follow DS1 to the grammar school. ( And no doubt annoy him to death like little brothers. do) Still waiting for news about his 2 friends but I am fairly sure that they also have places. Hope you had good news x2 @treezylover
