11+ waiting for results

Mumoftwinsandanother · 13/09/2018 14:46

Hi there

My twins have both taken the 11+ in Bucks today. Results come out on 13th October, I think. It could really go either way for both of them. My biggest fear is that one gets in and the other does not (really quite possible).
Saw that last year there was a thread from parents during the waiting period and I wondered if anyone wanted to take part in a hand holding thread this year (for any county). Obviously have to be very careful what I say to DTs so would be useful to vent here.

Anyone else in similar position?

Congratulations Stoufer (and miniStoufer)!

MrsTWH · 04/10/2018 23:01

Congrats stoufer!

Never mind, mamaof2cuties; she tried and you are no doubt super proud of her regardless!

Whatsgoingoneh - ours also says “mid Oct”... wonder if we are waiting for the same one?!

Stoufer · 05/10/2018 12:09

Thank you all :) It has been quite a rollercoaster for us really. miniStoufer (I like that, brisklady!) burst into tears when he found out... apparently he had been really worried, so had bottled it in... and we assumed he had forgotten :(
Good luck to everyone waiting - and thanks for your messages on here, it has really helped over the last couple of days x

Exexexcel · 05/10/2018 13:14

Oh bless him. I wonder if my daughter will be similar... She does hold things in and I thought she'd forgotten but she asked me yesterday when the results come so she's obviously thinking about it 😬 Congrats to you

Greenleave · 06/10/2018 10:03

Good luck to everyone waiting! We are in the middle of 11+ but there is still a long way to go, awgg!

I dont understand if there is no offer then how do we know if we have made it. Waiting until March is really a long wait especially for someone who considers moving. How do you translate the result especially when the school doesnt share details, ranking. Has anyone who was told that their child was selective and put the school as first choice but there isnt a definite place and wasnt offered in March. Should it be offer/waiting list/not similar to Indie.

Waiting impatiently in Essex for CSSE results on 16th. We're in catchment but even so my DD is a bit hit and miss with her maths so it's a nail biting wait.

Our non-grammar options are good so it's not a big deal if she doesn't pass but she will be disappointed x

I think the process is different depending on which area your school is in. If you are happy to say which area then people can give more specific advice. Alternatively look on this site for more region specific advice.
In our area we get told if DS has a place at the school or on the waiting list on 10th October. Others are different, eg in some you get told if you have passed but then applicants who have passed have to apply and then get ranked by distance to see who gets the places.

Greenleave · 06/10/2018 10:56

Thanks Mumski, my question is for Tiffin and Henrietta sitters. Best of luck to your child for next week result, not long now.

Gizlotsmum · 06/10/2018 11:01

Waiting here too. Taken on 15th and 22nd September. Results posted out 12th October... DD not sure she even wants to go to the grammar school :(

sunyousaw · 06/10/2018 11:26

Waiting for the results was easy compared to DD making the decision as to whether she wanted to go to a grammar or the more local comprehensive. Really hard. (In the end she went for the comp).

Highbeam · 06/10/2018 12:12

@crisscrosscranky We are also waiting in Leigh-on-sea. D.S. feels that he has done well , the waiting is awful . Best of luck to your dd and everyone else who waiting to hear.

hoistmeupjudy · 06/10/2018 12:43

@crisscrosscranky @Highbeam waiting in Essex CSSE too. I've kind of written it off as dd said the maths was really hard. I think it came as a bit of a shock to her. Luckily our local comps are good too. Good luck!

Highbeam · 06/10/2018 13:00

Best of luck to you too @hoistmeupjudy. They know we are them proud of them whatever the outcome. With our support they will all do well. x

Mumski45 · 06/10/2018 20:57

@Greenleave
There is a thread here that explains the rankings for HBS

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 09:59

Through a bit of CFery and using a link in an old email I've managed to see DD's raw scores.

I knew the maths paper was hard but am shocked at how low her score is. English is good but not enough to bring the maths up to a pass I don't think. Gutted for her but what will be will be.

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 10:00

@Highbeam @hoistmeupjudy you should be able to do the same- use the registration verification email, log in then click print.

hoistmeupjudy · 07/10/2018 10:37

Thankyou- @crisscrosscranky I managed to do the same and snap! Ok in English but low maths score. Oh well that's that then. Someone told DH that they alternate between making maths hard one year and English the next. Guess this year was maths. Everyone I have spoken too seems to think the maths was harder this year.

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 10:40

I'll drop you a PM @hoistmeupjudy

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 12:27

Link is offline now- someone busy be in trouble!

Highbeam · 07/10/2018 12:29

I have just managed to do this also. I am a little taken back ds has done really well. Very good in English but his maths score is very high ( almost 90% of the paper correct). He said he thought that he had done well but I took that with a pinch of salt. All we have ever heard from school is that if he really applied himself he could do really well.

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 12:45

That's brilliant @Highbeam - you can look forward to next Tuesday GrinGrin

hoistmeupjudy · 07/10/2018 14:25

Congratulations highbeam! That's great news 🍷😊 I'm glad the pressure is off for you now.

Holidayshopping · 07/10/2018 15:22

Someone is going to be seriously in trouble at the CSSE office this year!

Anyone else managed to see something this morning and want to compare notes, please feel free to PM me. Maths was seriously disappointing:(

crisscrosscranky · 07/10/2018 15:47

Have PM'd you @Holidayshopping - it's offline again now so I expect there was panic this morning!

Holidayshopping · 08/10/2018 12:12

At least it’s only just over a week to wait now!!
