11+ waiting for results

Mumoftwinsandanother · 13/09/2018 14:46

Hi there

My twins have both taken the 11+ in Bucks today. Results come out on 13th October, I think. It could really go either way for both of them. My biggest fear is that one gets in and the other does not (really quite possible).
Saw that last year there was a thread from parents during the waiting period and I wondered if anyone wanted to take part in a hand holding thread this year (for any county). Obviously have to be very careful what I say to DTs so would be useful to vent here.

Anyone else in similar position?

Yep, we’re still waiting in Reading! But no idea when they’ll be out. It’s very frustrating.

totallyliterally · 13/10/2018 10:46

@Holidayshopping very similar here.

I emailed school yesterday as they get results on Monday and there is also possibility of logging on before school on Tuesday. But I want him to come home on Tuesday after school and open the results in calm of home and then have the evening to deal with the aftermath.

So asked them to not tell him his results at all. Hopefully they'll abide by this.

I've been reading far too much about scores and applications and what it could all mean.

My boy is utterly oblivious about it all, told him we will open It on Tuesday after school

Holidayshopping · 13/10/2018 10:51

School won’t say anything-they’ll be in trouble if they did!

PM me if you want to discuss scores and applications-what have you found out?!

Gizlotsmum · 13/10/2018 11:07

Lots of passes coming through from friends....🤢

herecomesthsun · 13/10/2018 12:23

DS has a score here of 376 with a pass mark of around 300/310. However we are just over the catchment boundary, so who knows? My son will be waiting in the queue for a place behind everyone else whose postcode fitted better.

"So is this a post code lottery then, mum?" says DS cheerfully.

The positive thing is that he has been quite phlegmatic about it all, and we did minimum of preparation, no tutoring and little impingement on other activities. Also the other choices round here aren't terrible. The obvious alternatives just don't do much for gifted children to stretch them. That is, according to the Ofsted reports and GCSE results breakdown figures.

Another positive thing, that I will be bearing in mind as I (probably) gear up for appealing, is that we are very lucky to have the "problem" of how best to nurture an support a clever child.

Is anyone waiting for the Trafford results?? My DSis is beside herself with stress waiting for the results for her DS. She has been told it could be any time in the next week!!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/10/2018 13:10

In lieu of hearing any news, I've taken to stalking the Reading School website. 😆

Remember, we don't get a results day - they only say "mid October". Argh.

I've just found this in the Calendar, for Monday. Is this the Admissions Committee discussing results before they send them out, or afterwards?

11+ waiting for results
MrsTWH · 13/10/2018 14:02

I would assume before the results go out... looks like we could be waiting til end of the week?!

Gizlotsmum · 13/10/2018 14:51

And we have a pass!! So relieved

Bythebeach · 13/10/2018 16:07

Relieved over here too! DS2 can join DC1 .... and it’s years til we need to worry about DC3😂

DD has started to stress about it now; she doesn't mind what school she goes to but she hates the idea of having to tell people she's failed Sad

Gizlotsmum · 14/10/2018 09:00

Oh bless her. That was our biggest fear too! However I had already prepared various speeches on how it was performance on two days not a reflection of her and the fact that she even tried was good enough.

totallyliterally · 15/10/2018 06:43

One more day. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep past 4:30am after tomorrow!

MrsTWH · 15/10/2018 07:18

@WhatsGoingOnEh I’ve just noticed that they also had an admissions meeting Thurs 11th. And again tonight like you said. Does that mean they meet before and after the results are out or just before?!? I really hope it’s today, I’m struggling with not knowing the day. I constantly check my emails. It’s frustrating!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/10/2018 08:02

Hi @MrsTWH -- oh, interesting!

When I saw your notification on my phone, I thought you'd got your results!

I totally feel your pain. I'd much prefer a set results day. I will be jumping and checking my junk email folder all day today just in case.

Holidayshopping · 15/10/2018 08:32

@totallyliterally me too.

I feel sick Confused.

Hope today goes quickly...

crisscrosscranky · 15/10/2018 08:54

Sick feeling here too- I think it's dread actually. I've seen the marks and know it's not good news so it's bit like waiting for a car crash to happen 😢

totallyliterally · 15/10/2018 09:05

@Holidayshopping @crisscrosscranky

Really hope the marks are enough for you both, I'm totally in the dark. This time tomorrow we shall know.

Today will be about keeping busy!

My boy is clueless, not on his radar even it's tomorrow.

Highbeam · 15/10/2018 09:36

Best of luck to everyone waiting in Essex. @crisscrosscranky ,@holidayshopping , @hoistmeupjudy and @totallyliterally I hope it works out to the marks that you need. I think we are luckier than some other areas as our non grammar school choices are good.It is still an awful system though.

Ouch44 · 15/10/2018 10:27

Waiting for Trafford results here too. I tutored my DD myself so extra stressed.

Officially results due to be posted Fri her but last year people received them from 4 days earlier on the Tues. Two years earlier when DS did it they came out on the day they said. Have told my DS to have a look in the office at school (one DD sat for) and to see if they are stuffing a load of envelopes!!
Also asked him to ask but doubt he'll remember either. Actually a vibe might help him remember!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/10/2018 10:51

This is worse than being a teenager and waiting for a boy to call.

Holidayshopping · 15/10/2018 11:23

Yes, @whatsgoingoneh

Except this feels like I’m waiting for a boy (I really like) to call, but there’s a high chance he’s phoning to tell me he wants to ask my friend out!

totallyliterally · 15/10/2018 12:14

Haha @WhatsGoingOnEh

So true!
