I’ve just just asked DD what the sandwich box and bottle are for in the fridge. It turns out she’s made her first packed lunch ready for school. She doesn’t start till next Tuesday HmmSmile

Blimey Penguins I hope DD is o.k. Eek at the compass stuff, I'm glad the rumours weren't true.

Glad the Ed Psych visit went well, hope the ideas get put in place and help.

DS2 is coming down with another cold, completely wiped out. He's already asleep. Unlike DS4!

Longtalljosie · 13/12/2018 20:49

Thank you! No, DD is in Y5 x

Penguinsandreindeer · 13/12/2018 21:09

Thanks Dobbins DD has to stay in hospital tonight but hopefully back tomorrow. Nurses said she's refusing to sleep and hard to get to eat and drink sensibly so know they have the right child Grin At least your DS has the sense to go to sleep unlike DD who after a night of being sick and violent headache insisting on going to school buying lucozade enroute. Though think she's learning the hard way now.

Long If there's grammars you want to apply to that starts in year 5 but otherwise is by 31 October of year 6. Open days for grammars by us in June of y5 and comps / privates in Sept / Oct. Think opens around 1 Sept for online applications and you can change them up until deadline - look on your LEA website. Some schools you have to do form to the school as well.

Penguinsandreindeer · 13/12/2018 21:11

DS is very happy DD isn't here - I said had anyone asked him in school about DD and he said no and it would be awkward explaining she's in hospital being electrocuted. Hmm

DobbinsVeil · 13/12/2018 22:23

Poor DD, hope she gets some sleep and gets home tomorrow. Grin at being electrocuted. That would be another rumour you could do without this week!

I spoke too soon, DS2 got up crying about something or other. Back in bed, will see how he is in the morning.

redsummershoes · 13/12/2018 22:29

just quickly checking in.
anyone elses dc has lots of tests atm?
dc has 2 or 3 each day! I never thought they have so many subjects.
can't wait for christmas break, younger dc at primary has already broken up yesterday.

redsummershoes · 13/12/2018 22:32

@long if something is posted depends on the council.
ours doesn't send out anything.
they put up posters at schools, that's it.
only online applications are accepted.

DobbinsVeil · 13/12/2018 22:44

DS2 has had regular tests from the start redsummer. Maths is probably one of the subjects he's had the least in, which I have been surprised at. And DS2 disappointed as he loves a maths test! They jiggled around the sets after half-term expecting the same after Christmas.
My 3 schoolies finish on Wednesday, 2 have half-days but the primary school is seeing it out until the better end.

Penguinsandreindeer · 13/12/2018 23:04

Ours have tests each half term. DS had maths today and RE. Finish Wed midday.

redsummershoes · 13/12/2018 23:12

dc only had quick revision tests before, but this week and next they have longer (30 -45 min) tests on all subjects.
whatever they get tested on in pe Confused

Cedar03 · 14/12/2018 09:03

DD has had various tests, some seem to be quick ones, others are longer. She had a longer maths one and a science one the other day. We've had a grades report for this term. She finishes school next Wednesday.

Penguins hope your daughter is feeling better soon and that the new ideas work for your son.

Hersetta427 · 14/12/2018 10:05

Ours have proper tests every half term. Science today, English and geography next week. We got her half term tracking report which gives her anticipated gcse grades (for everything except art, music, drama) and amazingly she got 7+ for everything (they don't predict anything higher than a 7 whilst in year seven but if they think the child could get something higher they show the grade as 7+. Very proud.

She has also impressed me with her resilience as 3 days a week she gets collected from school and driven an hour each way to do a 2.5 hr sports training session and not once has she complained or said she doesn't want to go. Seems to be paying off though. She has been selected for the player pathway for national team development so more training to go to ! Because of all the training and playing matches at the weekend she has learned to be organised with her homework and gets on with it well in advance as some weekends we may only be at home for an hour or two. Looking forward to a small rest over Xmas although she has a 2 day training camp to attend and has been set a personal fitness schedule by her coach so maybe not much of a rest for her.

Witchend · 14/12/2018 10:30

Ours never do a week of tests as we used to, but they have hour long lessons so they do them in lessons.
Had a bit of an argument with dd2 (in year 10 so should know better) when they sent a letter home saying that they had an important test in a fortnight so remind them to revise. Dd2's response was something along the lines of "they always say that but they don't actually expect us to..." Hmm

Last day for them today. Ds has been singing happily how many hours (and sometimes minutes) left.I have 2 hours left before I have to pick them up.

DS is very happy DD isn't here - I said had anyone asked him in school about DD and he said no and it would be awkward explaining she's in hospital being electrocuted.
Ds would love to say that. Dd would not be happy he'd said that. Grin

Penguinsandreindeer · 14/12/2018 18:39

Thanks, DD now home. She thought it was hilarious he was telling people at school she's been electrocuted at hospital. Now hoping we don't get a call from school re her electrocution.

Penguinsandreindeer · 15/12/2018 23:20

DS' secret santa tomorrow - he's been telling other kids he wants either coal or water as they both are amazing.

PenguinPandas · 16/12/2018 20:37

NC again - trying organise his birthday but can he decide nope.

PenguinPandas · 16/12/2018 21:45

Now he says he wants an Elmo, the Cookie Monster, birthday Grin

PenguinPandas · 18/12/2018 22:42

Last day tomorrow 🎉 DS has been singing and dancing I have had last lesson of 2018 as tomorrow is a fun day and they finish at 12.

School have been on as girl claimed DD in hospital as she self harmed, this is getting annoying.

DS went in fine today and had good day, met SENCO who was very nice, and great school nearly over.

Frogletmamma · 19/12/2018 02:42

Last day today. School report good. Dd happy but tired. No major mishaps (except for losing phone, shoes, skirt etc). Will count this as success

DobbinsVeil · 19/12/2018 09:24

Last day here too. Half day for DS2. Had a response to my email about the PE teacher stuff. Was a load of crap as expected. Vehemently denies making the specific comments and was merely expressing concerns. Apologised if we had perceived the comments differently or feel upset by them. Grrr.

redsummershoes · 19/12/2018 09:28

last day here is friday.
still one or 2 tests today and tomorrow.
dc is soooooo ready for the holidays.

PenguinPandas · 19/12/2018 19:10

Schools out - yay! Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and New Year, we're back on 7th. DD fell asleep around 2.45pm and still asleep, she's had an early present of Cookie Monster and DS had early present of Elmo and they are like 2 excited toddlers with them.

DS took £10 to Christmas Fayre and came back upset as he lost it but is fine now. Sorry you didn't get far with complaint Dobbins School seemed to have accepted DD wasn't in hospital with self-harming, phew.

PenguinPandas · 19/12/2018 19:11

Good luck getting through to Friday Red

redsummershoes · 21/12/2018 15:55

SCHOOL'S OUT
(not sorry for shouting)
report is very average
dc very happy to have a couple of weeks to relax!

DobbinsVeil · 21/12/2018 16:38

Poor DS losing his money penguins. Aww at your cute DC and their Cookie Monster/Elmo joy.
Hooray for school end of ter redsummer.

DS2's school has had some issues moving on to a new reporting system, which they're hoping to resolve early in the Spring term. No Parents Evening until June so I hope it does happen?!>

Hope Everyone has a great break 'Xmas Grin
