Think we will do a wardrobe purge too as DD wants to get lots of new clothes this summer - think sees it as an opportunity to reinvent herself for the 6th form.

TerfTerfTerf · 12/06/2018 10:50

DS started filling a box of "archive material" as soon as his exams started! He was delighted to chuck in all the French books at the end of the first week, closely followed by Eng Lit Grin
DH and I have most of our school books, which the kids have enjoyed laughing at and being amazed at all the hand-written, photocopied, test papers from the 80s

JufusMum · 12/06/2018 10:51

slinkyme DD has literally lived in school uniform and dance kit since year 7 so I've been stockpiling bits and bobs for Sixth Form (business dress) when I see them in the sale.

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 10:56

Feedback from AQA maths paper 3 (higher) was....it was an OK paper able to answer all but not necessarily all right. Pondered over a one marker because she couldn't remember all properties of a rombus!Hmm

Eve · 12/06/2018 10:59

I;ve had a text on Maths all it says is 'BAD'

BlueBelle123 · 12/06/2018 11:03

Sorry to hear that Eve, was that Edexcel?

LooseAtTheSeams · 12/06/2018 11:05

DS says AQA maths paper 3 was ok - thought paper 2 was better but today's was still ok.

adrinkofwater · 12/06/2018 11:14

Looking forward to hearing more reports about the edexcel maths as DS has history this afternoon.

A bit late, but here's my summary

DC doing GCSEs - DS
Other DC - DD year 13
School - average State Grammar
6th form - Probably staying
A levels - Maths, F. maths, Physics, French
Other info - Is good at maths and linguistics, plays badminton, has surprised us by saying he wants to go to prom!
Last exam - 21st June, German and F maths

EdwinaLIzzard · 12/06/2018 11:16

Oh dear, the feedback from AQA Foundation wasn't too good and DD is currently googling 'when are GCSE re-sits'

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 12/06/2018 11:17

Dd said edexcel p3 was ok. Harder than the first 2 but not as awful as the paper 3 from the mock.

Only one question she couldn't do. It was on time but she said it was weird.

That's all the post mortem I'm likely to get. On to chemistry now.

Eve · 12/06/2018 11:17

yup - edexcel - I texted back how bad and response was 'very'

Am hoping its just drama from him, but he does panic and worry.

BlueBelle123 · 12/06/2018 11:20

Eve I do think when coming out of an exam you tend to be thinking about questions that may not of gone well as opposed to all the others that were fine........

Eve · 12/06/2018 11:25

any my introduction:

DC doing GCSEs - DS2
Other DC - DS1 - at 1st year uni ( doing exams last week and this as well)
School - local outstanding state
6th form - choice of 2 local outstanding state 6th form colleges, not made mind up yet
A levels - product design (definite) then 2 of biology, envt science, economics and IT.
Other info - appears tough, but is sensitive and emotional, loves cooking.
Last exam - 15th June, physics

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 11:25

No feedback from dd. Dh a bit down today. He's been signed off for two weeks.

So I decided stuff it, we wern't going to but I've just booked two Kidsweek shows for August. Jamie & Dreamgirls.

DevaDiva · 12/06/2018 11:25

Text from DD AQA Higher Maths 'don't think maths went very well' followed by ' I'm sure I've passed just don't think I've done as well as I hoped'. She's very hard on herself and I'm sure will have got at least a 6 so I'm not too, too worried.

Hope everyone else's DCs got on ok. Just 2 more papers to go for us now.

beenrumbled · 12/06/2018 11:26

eve DS is doing Edexcel too.

I wont find out till he gets home how he did.

But they do tend to remember the questions they couldn't do , rather than the ones they could, so fingers x for you!

hmcAsWas · 12/06/2018 11:26

"but he does panic and worry".

There you go then Eve - probably not nearly as bad as he is imagining. I have convinced myself I had failed an exam before but got over 70%!

TerfTerfTerf · 12/06/2018 11:28

DS just turned up at home! He said he gets lonely in library so came home for lunch before history at 1.30 (there's only 11 taking history so there's no Y11s at school to talk to)

AQA higher maths - Pythagoras and circle tangents on long questions. No algebra, one trig question. He finished before time and even corrected an answer! Nothing he couldn't answer. Brilliant confidence boost before facing the Nazis later Grin

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 11:28

Hi jufus my dds are 36 and 37! Its my granddaughter I talk about on here!Smile

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 11:31

Thought last question needed algebraic answer on AQA? I'm probably wrong misheard dgd. She said was circle tangent I know thatConfused

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 11:32

terf your boy mathStar

TerfTerfTerf · 12/06/2018 11:38

sost I think DS only thinks things are algebra when they are a, b and c in an equation Smile I see algebra anywhere there's an 'unknown'. So your dgd is almost certainly correct too.

dogzdinner · 12/06/2018 11:40

Sounds like the 3rd Maths paper is the one to sort out the grade 9'ers then?

My DS has never had 3 papers before, for the mocks they mostly just have 1 paper/subject. Although I think for maths they did calc and non-calc.

Only 3 to go now - Chemistry, Physics and Statistics

LooseAtTheSeams · 12/06/2018 11:40

Terf impressive! Star hope his history paper goes at least as well as that, if not better!

mmzz · 12/06/2018 11:43

DS is home from maths 3 (edexcel). He says it took a bit longer than paper 3, but went well. So far, he only knows of 1 mark for certain that he has dropped across all 3 papers, but I'm sure the examiner will find the others!

Anyway, its done now and time to focus on Chemistry today/ tomorrow morning and then onto Physics for Friday. The end is very much in sight and he is struggling to keep the momentum.
