That reminds me, we still have boxes of degree stuff circa 1992 lurking under the stairs. It may come in useful one day - my dissertation was about the development of electronic point of sale technology and the it's impact on the retail environment. Wonder if it ever caught on?

Hadenoughtoday · 12/06/2018 11:56

DD2 - last maths paper today then all finished. Then it's the long wait for results. She will be starting her college course over the summer to give her a head start and keep a routine going.

DD1 - all finished at UNI - where did those 3 years go? Home with all her 'stuff' which now needs sorting (and most of it chucking no doubt) Results due end of June ready for graduation in July - she was just below a first before final exams so is very nervous but not long to wait. Good luck to everyone's DC in this final stretch and hope they all have some fab plans for the summer

Another one a bit late, but here's me & DS2:

DC doing GCSEs - DS2
Other DC - DS year 13
School - Selective Independent
6th form - Probably staying
A levels - Theatre, Art & Design, TBC
Other info - Graphic design/video skills - does lots of online stuff for YouTube etc
Last exam - 15th igcse Physics

Dd might not be able to go to Prom. I can’t get a hotel for all three of us & im not prepared to drive somewhere I don’t know at 11pm at night to pick her up on my own.

Selfish I know but I just can’t do it.

TheThirdOfHerName · 12/06/2018 12:41

DS2 said he felt that (Edexcel Maths) paper 3 was slightly harder than papers 1 and 2. He is not certain about the solution he gave for the final question (a geometrical proof).

PeggySchuylar · 12/06/2018 12:41

Alexander i can see why it might be a bridge too far at the moment.

Is there somone in your network who could help. My DD1 has just finished uni and she would happily and reliably pick up her cousins or my friends' children for petrol money and some clothes vouchers.

Not suggesting my DD actually picks up your DD of course.

TeenTimesTwo · 12/06/2018 12:44

Alexander Does she have a friend she could stay the night with who could pick her up?

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 12:46

It’s exist weekend at a boarding school. The other parents will be collecting their children & taking them either home or to a hotel they booked already.

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 12:47

Peggy the issue is prom is at a secret venue & school refuse to tell us where until the actual evening.

BlueBelle123 · 12/06/2018 12:50

Couldn't you email the school and ask, given your circumstances and the fact your DH works at the school they might tell you and once you know the venue it might be doable?

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 12:54

We’ve tried. The answer is no.

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 12:55

Dh actually telephoned rather than emailed.

Cherryburn · 12/06/2018 13:00

Alexander that's ridiculous, I can't believe they won't tell him. It's a school prom fgs!

BlueBelle123 · 12/06/2018 13:02

Gosh that seems a bit harsh..........I'm always happy to bring some of DS's friends home let alone in your situation, couldn't your DD stay at a friends and then you pick her up the next day.......sorry if stating the obvious I'm sure you've already thought of everything Smile

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 13:02

They keep saying I have nothing to worry about & it’s within 2 miles of school. But 2 miles of school could mean a city centre or it could mean a little village type place. I got lost finding the caravan in broad daylight!

TeenTimesTwo · 12/06/2018 13:03

Alexander Ring round every likely venue within say 30 miles?
Good morning, I'm calling from the Emma Thompson Drama Academy about the Prom next weekend
What prom? / Ah yes Friday evening isn't it?
sorry wrong hotel / can you just confirm whether we said 11 or 11:30 to finish?

TerfTerfTerf · 12/06/2018 13:03

Blimey! What a stubborn and very silly policy of your school! I'd be tempted to drive there the minute you know the location and camp outside all evening or sit in the bar with a book if its a public venue You would have thought that a member of staff having a stroke would encourage a bit of leniency Confused

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 13:04

Hopefully dgd will get an 8 in maths though predicted 8/9 she isn't always consistent. She may surprise us and get a 9 but she feels paper 1 didn't go as well as 2 and 3. But I would be equally chuffed for a 7. And as the weeks have gone on with all stress and constantly having to rearrange my knickers I'll be blooming chuffed if she just passes!Grin

TeenTimesTwo · 12/06/2018 13:04

X-post 2 miles. That's not many options to ring round … Smile

Sostenueto · 12/06/2018 13:06

That is silly I agree. As if you haven't enough to worry about alexanderFlowers

AlexanderHamilton · 12/06/2018 13:10

I think it’s the fact I got dreadfully lost in a deserted country lane in that area when trying to find our accommodation after a performance one night due to road closures. It really freaked me out.

Newsofas · 12/06/2018 13:12

EdExcel maths DS found paper three the hardest. So we wait and see only 3 more days to go.

Clavinova · 12/06/2018 13:13

Park your car near the school and get a taxi to and from the venue (2 miles to collect dd) back to you car?

beenrumbled · 12/06/2018 13:16

The school should be more helpful under the circumstances Alexander

DS home. Maths was ok. He had time to look over the paper and is now home revising chemistry
