Good advice Secondary and Foxy. I defo overthink things.

FoxyinherRoxy · 12/09/2017 21:09

It's very easy to get caught up in it.

Ultimately, with supportive parents, children will get their GCSEs wherever they go. There's also 6th form to consider.

Many children will have a better educational experience at high school. GS can be a bit of an impersonal exam factory IME.

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/09/2017 21:49

Thing is alot of people say that but I do wonder if theybwould feel the same if they faced a school where less than 40 percent get a-c grades

What's more likely, a school failing 60 percent of children or 60 percent of children not having supportive parents...

Can i really be supportive enough to cope with that?

Sorry that probably sounded quite rude I didn't mean it to be just tired and a bit stressed and just pissed at myself cos there's nothing I can really do about it

Love2dance · 14/09/2017 09:48

God, in the queue for exam now. Courage!

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 09:55

I've got a crappy movie on trying to distract myself.

Think I'm more nervous than dd.

Hope all goes well for your dc love

FoxyinherRoxy · 14/09/2017 09:59

Huge sense of relief in a couple of hours Love2

Good luck Smile

Loueytb3 · 14/09/2017 10:26

My DS is sitting the 11+ this afternoon. I am trying to work and failing
He also found Tuesday's practice easy and I have been trying to drum into him that it will be different today...

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 10:31

I booked tonight off work. I couldn't face it.

I'd never have put her through it if my school options were better.

Im.not optimistic i have to say.... But til I pick her up there is still hope it's gone ok...

Love2dance · 14/09/2017 10:32

Thanks guys. Hope all goes well for your DD Giles.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 10:33

Thank you

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 10:33

And good luck to your dc louey

Love2dance · 14/09/2017 10:33

And your DS Louey.

ParadiseCity · 14/09/2017 10:52

Good luck to those sitting today. DD did hers at the weekend and now we wait weeks for the results. Even though the bastard thing is marked by a computer and should take seconds Angry.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 10:56

How frustrating Sad

How Did she find it

ParadiseCity · 14/09/2017 12:34

She was ok thanks, ie she was calm and got to go for chips with her friends after as a reward for doing it. I decided better to reward for effort than a reward linked to the score iyswim.

Few years ago my eldest came out saying it wasn't too hard but he didnt score highly so there is nothing they can report that can give you any idea of how they got on really...

Have you collected your DC yet morning testers? Flowers

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 12:38

I had no idea there was more than one sitting?

You mean this could be hanging over her head all day? I assumed it was just in the morning and pick up as normal school havent said anything about picking up early....

Oh

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 14/09/2017 12:48

If she did it in school then it will all be managed within the school day with possibly minor changes to break and lunchtimes. It will be out of area children who are doing morning/ afternoon exams because the exams will be shorter than a school day.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 12:53

Phew thought I'd missed something.

I'm really hoping it went well....

But I also don't want to know.

Ignorance is bliss and all that...

Once today is over I'm honking all the books and unsubscribing to the website and I never ever want to see anything else in the house....

Til 4 yrs time when it's dd2s turn

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 18:58

Well we said it went ok. Which is kinda annoying in a way cos I was almost hoping we would get put out if our misery today but instead we are waiting the 4 weeks til results day. She seemed to think it wasn't so bad which means as pp said that the pass Mark will just be higher noe...

But hey at least it's over and we can relax a bit more now

Flesh · 14/09/2017 19:26

I was invigilating today, they were all very happy with it and all think they've passed 😬

Hope they are all right. Either way it's over now and they can all relax tonight. Good luck to all your DCs.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 19:36

Oh dear..

Almost cruel isn't it. I mean it's left them thinking they have a good chance of passing....

Least of it went badly they'd know now instead if hanging on for a month....

Love2dance · 14/09/2017 20:11

DS said it was fine, and while that's positive I ain't relying on it too much as I know what he's like with silly mistakes etc.

Thanks Flesh. I just feel exhausted now. My other DS is very unlikely to go through the same thing as he is a summer born who was very premature and who has developmental delay, so I don't think 11+ will be right for him.

FoxyinherRoxy · 14/09/2017 22:33

monday for us. It's little comfort that it'll be over, as then it's a long wait for result. 😬

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/09/2017 22:45

Good luck foxy dc Flowers

FoxyinherRoxy · 14/09/2017 22:47

Thanks. Smile

(It's shit, isn't it?!)
