Because you can get asked to go back at 12 and be tested again. 11 plus have an interview.

RainbowBabyMum · 30/01/2017 15:54

Oh yes. it's true:(

weary12 · 30/01/2017 20:07

I heard of a 13+ no today at DS's school. Now just the dreaded 12+!!!

forevermum2017 · 31/01/2017 10:58

Today's update - Postman just been, but nothing for us.

sazzy5 · 31/01/2017 11:12

Forevermum2017 looks like you are in!I My postman has either walked past us or is yet to arrive...Still biting my nails.

notnigella · 31/01/2017 11:17

No post for us today - Dr Cox did say "no news is good news!" I can't find the form they gave us on exam day with the dates on it - is there a date when the wait is definitively over, i.e. when all letters have been sent either way?

weary12 · 31/01/2017 11:21

The note says that the final letters will be posted first class on Thursday February 9th... still a while to wait!!

sazzy5 · 31/01/2017 11:36

The no's for 11+ are out if you have dodged those and didn't have an interview then no news is indeed good news. Those that got called back will get a yes or no on the 9th. Those doing the 13+ have the come back at 12 possibility on the 9th or a yes as I believe the no's for 13+ are out too. Last time I didn't believe it until we had the offer letter delivered!

Random2017 · 31/01/2017 11:43

Exactly - they do not send out a continuous stream of 'No' letters between now and the 9th. So its as sazzy5 says.

forevermum2017 · 31/01/2017 13:04

Sazzy5, I hope u r right! Tomorrow is 1st Feb; going by previous posts, don't think anybody in the past have received any NO letters in Feb. I would like to believe I'm safe.
Sazzy5, do u have a DS already at RGS? If yes, hats off to u for going through this ordeal yet again. Well, I think if you did it, it's 'cos RGS is really a fantastic school. I sincerely hope u get the offer letter in Feb. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best for all the lovely mummies here.

sazzy5 · 31/01/2017 15:00

It is a fantastic school for the right child it is very fast paced but that is why they choose the boys they do. I hated the process last time and have found it just as bad this time! I am quite grateful I only have two boys at times like this, I don't think I could do it again. Definitely nothing in the post here so I am beginning to feel hopeful.

Sassy56 · 31/01/2017 15:40

Snap!

notnigella · 31/01/2017 16:33

Now allowing myself the tiniest glimmer of hope...

forevermum2017 · 01/02/2017 13:08

Postman been, no post again from RGS. Feeling good 😊.

forevermum2017 · 01/02/2017 13:09

Postman been, no post again from RGS. Feeling good 😊.

sazzy5 · 01/02/2017 17:20

Forever that is good news. Nothing in our post either and we had a lot delivered probably because we got nothing yesterday! fingers crossed for everyone hanging in there!

riti56 · 02/02/2017 11:31

Hello to all the lovely mums here. We are also waiting to hear from RGS. Just wondering what would happen if someone's callback letter goes missing and as a result the candidate do not turn up for second interview. Do you think RGS would bother to make notice of this and contact parents?

OP posts:
Sassy56 · 02/02/2017 12:38

I am sure they would because they'd wonder where you were? I'd be more worried about the no letter going missing!

weary12 · 02/02/2017 16:18

Hi all. Does anyone know roughly how many definite 13+ offers there are and how many come back at 12+. What are the odds?..... getting worried!!

sazzy5 · 02/02/2017 17:25

Sazzy56 that thought had crossed my mind but I am sure our school would have called us in for a chat...or that is what I thought happened! As I said none of us will relax until next Friday when we all hope the postman will be prompt!

weary12 · 02/02/2017 18:56

Are they allowed to tell you?

sazzy5 · 02/02/2017 20:05

No they don't tell you it is just if you get a no the school has a chat with you about what happened. Our Head said to us last time if you haven't had a letter it's good news but didn't know any more than us at that point. She was trying to tell me to chill as she knew the process of no and call backs and we hadn't got any of those letters.

forevermum2017 · 02/02/2017 22:59

Sorry ladies, didn't post earlier in the day. Was terrified when the post arrived today, but was soon relieved after opening it as it was an offer letter from another school. However, no post from RGS today, which is fantastic; was busy house-hunting all day as we are planning to move closer if the offer letter arrives. Just don't have any idea where to move to. If u don't mind me asking, where are u all based? We currently live in Basingstoke and don't want DS to travel from here.

Random2017 · 03/02/2017 09:00

Boys come from far and wide to RGS. I think because of that a lot travel by train as my DS1 does so unless you are driving in and dropping off being near a train station that gets to Guildford main or Guildford London Road is an extremely good idea. Basingstoke is probably about 30 mins by train so I would think finding something with a 15min train journey would be ideal - so Haslemere/Dorking/Woking are all good hubs. If your son is sporty and in teams these generally play on a Saturday at home at Bradstone Brook, near Shalford/Albury or if away pick up/drop off at G Live near the school so again proximity to Guildford is ideal.

forevermum2017 · 03/02/2017 09:26

Thanks so much random2017. There's no direct train to Guildford from Basingstoke. DS would have to first get down at Woking n then change for Guildford, which is hectic in my opinion for a 11 yr old. Living near a train station comes with its disadvantages- noise etc. Looked at a lovely bungalow near wanborough station, but worried about the constant tremors. Hoping we find something good pretty soon. Will check our Dorking, Woking n Haselmere. Thanks once again 🙏🏼.
