RGS Guildford exam 2017

To the Mums whose son sat in RGS Guildford entrance exam in previous year(s) . Please suggest on exam preparation

The yes letters don't go out until February half term, from what I can gather?

I know someone who got their second interview letter yesterday- I think if you haven't got one yet, it's either a straight yes/no now....

A friends son did get the academic scholarship letter today. Has anyone heard of call back or NO letters yet

We got a letter on Friday asking DS to go for second interview on Wednesday. Its an English interview. His maths is much stronger than English. I was hoping he would get invited back for a second interview as that would mean he wasn't a no but now I'm so nervous for him!

Well good luck oolie123. So we know call back and scholarship letters are out there. Dr Cox said they call back between 50-70 boys and approx half of those get in so good odds. There are approx 25 for the scholarships. So that leaves about 200ish boys chasing the remaining 50-60 places. I don't expect anyone to post on here if they get a No, but unsure exactly when these go out but think it's next week. I am sure others will know and post at some point. So fingers crossed for DS and everyone else.

I thought I read some where that they where sending out the no's today but I could be completely wrong as I have not heard that from the school..

We haven't received anything in our post. I think the no's will go out this week. Most won't say when they receive a no and I wouldn't expect anyone to. Fingers crossed that nothing comes in the post this week from RGS.

Looking at last year's thread the 'no' letters seemed to trickle through about 2 weeks after the exam was taken. At an educated guess we could be looking at next week therefore before the no letters come out this year. But all speculation! #thisistorture

The exam has always been a week earlier so the timescales are hard to compare. Having said that I think the no's will trickle through until the end of Jan. We can't relax until it's February.

no idea ,she didn't tell me exactly when they will post. she said it is a long process when i told that my ds was anxious.

Don't know how many went for 13+ at RGS, I would have thought the slight majority there on the day would have been for 11+. I do know that a friends DS took the 13+ Hampton exam the other day and there were over 300 boys for around 65 places

I know there were nearly 600 at Hamptons for the 11+ and 125 spaces but 40 of those were already allocated to 10+ and the feeder school. It's really low odds! I have heard a lot of call backs, so now it's the worst bit for us in limbo.
