Going by previous years' posts, the NO letters are usually posted around the Thursday of the 2nd week after the exam. So we will have the NO letters on the Friday or Sat of this week, if we have a rejection! Guessing no one would post a comment here after receiving a NO letter; hoping I don't have to be the 'pioneer brave person' doing just that 😐!

Random2017 · 24/01/2017 12:00

That's my understanding too. RGS's priority is with the call backs and scholarship letters first as they need those boys in now and next week. They then mirror the process a week later for the 'No' letters. So if you have heard nothing following Monday 30th mornings post, you should be able to relax. Believe some schools do call you in too if you get a 'No' (maybe as a precaution for the less reliable postal system). It's an odd feeling that by default if you hear nothing you are in. Good luck to all in the call back sessions this week.

Nothing in my post today - anyone receive a letter?

sazzy5 · 25/01/2017 12:43

Nothing in ours either....

Greenthree · 25/01/2017 13:08

I thought the "nos" are being posted tomorrow or Friday ? is there really 200 boys left (not called back or scholarships ) and only 50 places left ?

sazzy5 · 25/01/2017 13:13

I don't think we know for sure when they are being posted as they don't say. Also anyone with a no doesn't say anything for obvious reasons. I would expect them to be sent out so we know for the weekend but I won't relax until the end of Jan has passed.

Random2017 · 25/01/2017 13:38

Greenthree - all figures are an estimate but could be 50 places from a remaining 200 or less as not really sure how many take the 13+ from the 400 or so who were there on exam day - have estimated 100 but could be higher - anyone know?

Greenthree · 25/01/2017 15:59

thanks Random2017 and Sazzy5

Anybody receive any mail from Rgs yet? We got from reeds today.

Mumtogremlins · 26/01/2017 15:13

Nothing from RGS yet, it's torture!

weary12 · 26/01/2017 15:36

nothing here either. We are 13+, also not sure how many 11+ and how many 13+ at the test. Dreading 12+ reply!

Angelotn · 26/01/2017 15:41

Hi all - I was under the impression that there were at least 500 boys there for the 11+ which would significantly change the odds of a place? My son said the 6th formers he was with had said that there were 500 boys there so I'm not holding out much hope given he wasn't invited back for a second interview.
Going on previous years I'm expecting the 'no' letters to be sent today or tomorrow.

weary12 · 26/01/2017 15:55

Yes, my son said there were nearly 500 altogether (again it was from the sixth formers).

sazzy5 · 26/01/2017 17:24

I counted sheets and came up with just under 400. Nothing in our post other than bills. so I am guessing the letters still haven't gone out.

RainbowBabyMum · 26/01/2017 19:20

Hello
I'm so happy to find this thread!
Let us wait together:)!

Sassy56 · 26/01/2017 21:30

What do you mean - counted sheets?

Chickydoo · 27/01/2017 08:39

We did this long wait last year, it was awful! The not hearing was torture. Eventually we got our yes.
In the end we chose another school for our DS as RGS just didn't feel right as he preferred the other option (much to my initial horror, but now am fine with it) letters seemed to go out in batches, and DS & his friends all had the letter on the same morning.
Good luck to your boys

Random2017 · 27/01/2017 09:43

Yes fingers crossed everybody - expecting the No letters to be sent this weekend so hoping for no letters! Interesting to hear that Chickydoo turned down RGS as I know we would find it very hard to do so, but there are other very good schools and boys can do just as well in other environments. Re the numbers taking the exams it does also depend on how many were taking the 13+ there are 50 places for tem in year 3 so if its the same odd as 11+ i.e. 1 in 3 that should mean 50 places from 150 boys left for the 11+ its all very difficult to know without some insider knowledge.

Mummimoochkins · 27/01/2017 13:09

Has anyone asked RGS if they've sent no letters out yet? Just looking at the thread from last year and it seemed they went out "this" week last year (allowing for the fact the exam was earlier)? Or shall I call them (scared!)?!

Mumtogremlins · 27/01/2017 13:18

'No' letters are out - for 11+ and 13+

forevermum2017 · 27/01/2017 13:21

I was of the opinion that the first batch of NO letters would arrive today, but looks like no one has received anything like that today. It has to be tomorrow then 😬! Wish I worked at the Post Office; that way I wouldn't have had to wait for the villainous postman 😆!

forevermum2017 · 27/01/2017 13:24

Mumtogremlins - when u say 'No letters are out'; did u mean they were posted today ? Or have they been posted yesterday?

Kgreenmum · 27/01/2017 14:05

No letters have started arriving today.

KitKat1205 · 27/01/2017 14:06

Hi, been watching this thread for a few days and just to let you know at least some of the 'No' letters appear to have been sent as we received one today. Hope it all works out for you all as it seems an amazing school, good luck!

forevermum2017 · 27/01/2017 14:31

Kitkat1205 - thank you for the post. We are all waiting for RGS as if our lives depend on it! If not RGS, then some other school.. it's not the end of the world.. I keep telling myself ! Wishing you all the very best for your son's future.
