I am disappointed that there has not been a thread this year but so am stopping 'lurking'. Not want to give any specifics as maybe there is an extra exam day although this doesnt seem to be published anywhere but did anyone on Saturday ask how many Year 7 possible boys there were, as it is hard to tell who is for which year? It is pointless to ask 1 suppose as the boys are so differnet and with multiple choice method it's impossibel for boys to to know for certian anyway but the 'verdict' was Maths and English OK but the VR hard. I think January will seem a very long month.

I'm really sorry for all those who rec'd 'no's' today...I am really dreading the the post tomorrow now!! Infact, dreading it for the rest of the week......

Princesitalinda · 26/01/2016 16:43

I feel the same way Ruby4 xx

Cfm2016 · 26/01/2016 17:27

Yes I feel the same too. I stupidly thought we could relax after news of the last nos. Clearly not!

Sassy56 · 26/01/2016 17:28

Definitely different to last year. I'm 99.9% sure all nos went out same time

anothersurreymummy · 26/01/2016 17:29

So, OP also a No letter. It has been a long week.

OP posts:
Dadrah · 26/01/2016 17:39

Also a No here (for 13+). Good luck to those still in the process.

hhmum123 · 26/01/2016 20:27

So sorry to hear of more no's. Our poor boys, it's such a brutal process

Cfm2016 · 26/01/2016 20:43

I think what tillyho says is very true. They will do well whenever they go. We need to tell ourselves that RGS is very academic - one of the top schools in the country. So if our boys are even up to sitting the exam they are very capable and will thrive wherever they end up.....

Minem33 · 26/01/2016 20:57

Many thanks to those who shared their 'no' letters. Your honesty is truly appreciated. Best of luck to you and your sons whatever you decide to do. We are still in the 'waiting' group and dreading the post tomorrow now. I thought however what hhmum said was the key (thanks for sharing hhmum). If the school has confirmed in writing that "all no's sent in a single batch last night" surely that has to be right? And we also know they were sent first class...All that speculation is dreadful! Good luck for tomorrow everyone...

Cfm2016 · 26/01/2016 21:43

I still don't understand why there were reports of nos being received last week when the school are saying they went out yesterday. Very strange process!

63summer · 26/01/2016 21:48

Possibly boys who were hoping to sit for a music scholarship as they took place today.....

chickindude · 27/01/2016 12:25

Hi
We've still not heard a thing.
Post has been, no letters.
Can I start being hopeful?

Sassy56 · 27/01/2016 12:47

I would say you're safe! As long as you're not 13+?

Cfm2016 · 27/01/2016 12:55

Post also been here and nothing! I really want to be hopeful!! The letters were definitely sent first class on Monday. So unless postal service is exceptionally bad we should have had them by now. And there were lots of reports of nos yesterday.... Good luck!

63summer · 27/01/2016 13:01

I thought the 13+ letters had been sent too?

chickindude · 27/01/2016 13:13

Waiting for 11+
Guess we'll know for sure by Friday

hhmum123 · 27/01/2016 13:23

Nothing here either. Keeping everything crossed for everyone.

Cfm2016 · 27/01/2016 13:24

Yes there was a report of a 13+ no yesterday. We're 11+ too

Heli2016 · 27/01/2016 13:33

Post has come and nothing here either. We are going for 13+ so may have dodged the first bullet but of course could get the 'come back at 12' letter in Feb. I know nothing about the format of this and there doesn't seem to be anything on the website. Can anybody else shed some light on the 12+ process? Thanks

63summer · 27/01/2016 13:37

The 12+ call back is the equivalent of the interviews for the 11+ candidates now. However it's obviously later which means that you will probably need to be holding a place elsewhere in case it's a no. The 12+ is the same format day as the pretests they've just sat, i.e. maths, english and reasoning papers plus an interview. So the poor boys have to go through it again next year! I believe the school 'hold' a place for the boys they ask back, but obviously they still need to perform very well to get a 'yes'

Sassy56 · 27/01/2016 15:10

That's why going at 11 is an easier process in terms of not dragging it out for another year. You know in Feb and you can move on either way! Have never really understood the going at 13 option?

BlueStringPudding · 27/01/2016 16:57

We'll be applying for DS in a couple of years, so watching this thread with interest. Sassy we'll apply for 13+ entry because his prep goes to 13 and we would like him to stay to the natural end of the school, and be in the top year. His prep is also 3 minutes drive for us, whereas RGS is a 15 minute drive to the train station and then 2 trains to RGS (although still our nearest Boys' Senior Day School).

Commiserations to all those who haven't got places, am sure your boys will do well wherever they go. Good Luck to those still waiting to hear..

Princesitalinda · 27/01/2016 17:52

I was watching the thread from work and wondering what would I find in the post when arriving home. So now I'm Just reporting that we've also received nothing from RGS today. I feel cautiously optimistic... I hope to hear by Friday of results of previous examination, I really hope it's good news, it will take the edge of my anxiety over all this wait:)

Princesitalinda · 27/01/2016 17:53

I meant to say "a previous examination at another school"

hopeful2016985 · 27/01/2016 18:15

We've received nothing today so am starting to feel a bit optimistic but still not ready to celebrate.
