2015 GCSE Remarks - Any results back yet?

Hi. I'm just interested to know if anyone has received any remarks back yet and if so, how long they took and what the outcome was? My DS has a AQA English Language in for remark and it is like waiting for the GSCE results all over again!!

Exam Officer emailed back saying English went up to an A not A*. I've now heard unit 2 biology did get put in for a remark and hasnt changed. Apparently they thought I was asking if unit 3 biology had been been put in for a remark even though I hadn't asked for that one, and that was why they were confused.

Dd got D in eng Lang, remark is still a D Sad

Majaso12 · 28/09/2015 22:21

I don't think I've got the nerve or can be bothered with it anymore! I've had a long snotty email from the deputy head saying things like in future for me to only contact the Exam Officer and not teachers as it adds to confusion. I was told by him a few weeks to go through him which I have been doing. I emailed a science teacher for advice on what to get remarked and apparently according to him, teachers don't have time to answer about remarks, so the email got sent the Exam Officer.

Well done on the science remark - which science was it?

Majaso12 · 28/09/2015 22:29

I've emailed Exam Officer saying I assume we get a refund on the English as it went up, expect that's annoyed her even more! She's probably sent that email to the deputy head.

Hassled the exam sec again and finally got the result of the re-mark of Chemistry (which is dated 15th Sept!!)
We had 1 paper re-marked as it was so much lower than the others and thought they may have missed some out or added up the marks wrong. It went up 3 marks which wasn't enough to make any difference to the grade. Was just DS having a bit of a 'mare!

They are still waiting for maths...

swingofthings · 29/09/2015 18:07

Well done to all those whose grades went up. Must be a fantastic feeling to know that going through remarking was worth it. It gives a bit of hope for the others.

I'm still waiting, it's been 3 weeks. I have emailed the lovely exam officer who said not that not unusual to wait that long and I will be first after him to know.

Majaso12 · 30/09/2015 09:12

I think the rest of the remarks people are waiting should be back any day now.

QOD - have you had the igcse back yet? I asked for Ds's to be put in on results day (think it was put in a bit later than that) and came back this Monday, which seems a long time.

thunderbird69 · 30/09/2015 09:41

Got Edexcel maths back today - no grade change. Ah well, at least we know and aren't left wondering!

Good luck to those still waiting. Hope you get good news Smile

nicknamenoname · 30/09/2015 11:56

noblegiraffe - I'm interested in the statistic you quoted that 18.7% of remarks resulted in a grade change. Does the information you have split that out between grade increases and decreases? I think that's what we're all most afraid of: an exam being marked down. It would be interesting to know how often that actually happens. Thanks.

joujoulou67 · 30/09/2015 12:57

Ofqual Statistical Release gives details for remarks in 2014. You can find it at www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/386109/enquiries-about-results-for-gcse-and-a-level-summer-2014-exam-series.pdf

catslife · 30/09/2015 13:53

A quote from the above report for 2014 says that "For GCSE, 292,350 qualification results were challenged through enquiries across all
three services. Of these, 54,250 resulted in a qualification grade change (53,850 grades went up, 400 went down), representing 18.6 per cent of qualification grades challenged. This is an increase on last year when 15.8 per cent of grades challenged were changed, but the same as in 2010.
So in other words most likely outcomes are:

  1. no change (most likely)
  2. grade goes up
  3. grade goes down (least likely).
BUT it has to be said that the papers sent for re-marking are those that are most likely to go up i.e. near the grade boundary and lower than the teacher predicted grades. Papers where the pupil has done significantly better than the predicted grades aren't be sent back!
emma66 · 30/09/2015 14:50

We have been waiting sometime for a remark of Cambridge iGCSE in English Language. has anyone already received theirs and have any marks gone up? Our d was 2 marks off an A. The board remoderated the whole schools coursework which affected her result.

QOD · 30/09/2015 17:30

Still waiting the English igcse

emma66 · 30/09/2015 17:49

How long have you been waiting?

QOD · 30/09/2015 21:07

Think just before the 17th. The school paid for.that one.
Fingers crossed

Is anyone still waiting? Still haven't received remark results for Engl Lit. It's been almost 4 weeks now. Exam Officer said times varied, but how long can it go on for? Is there a deadline? Wish we could just put this behind us once and for all.

QOD · 02/10/2015 17:55

Yep. .waiting

emma66 · 02/10/2015 18:28

Yes we are still waiting too. Apparently the school can chase them up with the exam board if they have not been returned 30 days after submission!
