Hi. I'm just interested to know if anyone has received any remarks back yet and if so, how long they took and what the outcome was? My DS has a AQA English Language in for remark and it is like waiting for the GSCE results all over again!!

majaso that form went in last Fri ...

Majaso12 · 18/09/2015 19:07

QOD - do you mean the igcse English language?

sunshineandsand1 · 18/09/2015 19:10

Still waiting for one here as well. AQA RS sent off on the 8th. Had an interesting discussion with our exams officer at school today. She said that out of 100 remarks submitted, approx 20% have gone up (unfortunately one had gone down). I thought that % was quite high, so definitely worth a go.

Yes majaso

Majaso12 · 18/09/2015 19:54

I'm feeling quite anxious about that one as it's a smaller exam, so only needs 2 marks to go up, but then 9 marks down would go down a grade. Not such a risk with sciences.

Helenluvsrob · 18/09/2015 20:48

Waiting for eng Lang history and music creative task.

The creative task was hugely moderated down for all the group - dd got a b ( unheard of for her). The history is a mystery 3 papers a* a and d. We are hoping its a miscounted or something though it could get a catastrophic misunderstanding of course. English I dunno but they've all gone off.

We will see. Only the history is important to her really as it might limit what she can apply for in the future even with a good predicted a2 grade, given there will be no AS to prove the GCSE was a " blip"

QOD · 18/09/2015 21:37

Hmmm. Dd took the IGCSE as well as Aqa English Lit and language so not a disaster if it's not picked up. She got A in all 3

Majaso12 · 18/09/2015 22:01

Wish ds had done aqa English language as well. The school decided to switch to igcse at the end of year 10. He got A in AQA English lit (1 mark off A which then went down 8 marks in a remark), but B in igcse English language which he was really surprised at as he had got As in mocks. We've asked for his paper back as he thought the exam had gone really well and doesn't understand where he went wrong. He's considering retaking it in November. I'm worried at the moment it's going to go down like the English lit did.

Surely we're the last left waiting! ?!

Still waiting here too - AQA and Edexcel

VickiRF
Hi - Has anyone received a successful remark of gcse Eng. Lang with the WJEC board. My DD was 2 UMS (1 raw mark) away from an A.

No, but also waiting for an outcome from WJEC, although for English Literature. We had a similar dilemma - whether to ask for a second paper to be remarked before deadline, without knowing the result of the first remark. Just for info, having spoken to WJEC last week, I understand that they sometimes accept a late application for a remark (we decided to stick with the request for one paper to be remarked - might try for a late application on the second paper, depending on the outcome).

thunderbird69 · 23/09/2015 13:15

Any news anyone?

Nuffin

nicknamenoname · 24/09/2015 12:30

Had 3 re-marks back today from Edexcel and CIE.

The two which only needed the tiniest amount to go up (1 mark out of 300) both stayed where they were. However, the subject that needed a larger change i.e. 2 marks out of 180, went up the 2 marks required so has gone from an A to an A*. DS will be very happy when I get to speak to him!

QOD · 24/09/2015 13:08

1/3 is good!
Excellent news. Still waiting argh

Leeds2 · 24/09/2015 14:59

What subject was that, nickname?

And well done to your DS.

nicknamenoname · 24/09/2015 15:37

It was Chemistry, so I thought the least likely to alter because presumably the answers are either right or wrong.

Majaso12 · 24/09/2015 17:17

I asked exam officer and deputy head on Friday for a biology paper to be put in for a remark and had an email from the deputy head to say he can confirm it has been put in. I emailed exam officer today asking if the remark is back and she says it has not been put in and now it's too late. I've since emailed deputy head but had no response back. I can't believe this. I emailed them both early enough on Friday.

We had biology unit 1 remarked and that didn't change, But it wasn't until we got chemistry back and that went up 4 marks which I was very surprised at, that I thought it would be worth trying another biology paper. He had 83 ums in unit 1 biology, 91 in unit 2 and 96 in unit 3 so at the time I didn't think it was worth trying ones that were at A*, thought they were unlikely to change.

I've looked back at my emails at and seen that I emailed the exam officer at 11.20 am on Friday, had an email at 1 pm from deputy confirming it had been put in and yet exam officer said she didn't get the emails until Monday morning.

thunderbird69 · 25/09/2015 12:24

Majoso - that's really bad. I am starting to wonder if the same has happened with our requests as the exam secretary sounded very scatty and disorganised.

gloria and QOD - hope you hear soon

Majaso12 · 25/09/2015 12:36

The deputy head emailed me last night saying what biology was I referring to! Surely he couldn't have forgotten the email he sent me last Friday saying he can confirm that biology unit 2 has been put in for a remark? He said as it's inset day, he'll look next week. I emailed Exam Officer this morning saying I've checked my emails and I asked you for it to be remarked at 11.20 so how can that be too late and didn't get picked up until Monday. I bet the school are so fed up with me!
