I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

MissMarple / Hott my DW was thinking of spending money we don't have decorating the LR including new cushions for the couch. Of course peacock patterns were her favourite option given her colourblindness-- great design sense. I've banned any peacock patterns unless a fat letter arrives Friday!

wjchoihk · 13/02/2013 18:46

I remember last year on the post 'sending' day. I was so ankxious and i called W. I instantly regretted but someone was already on the line and was told the not so happy result. But i won't do it this time and just join burntoutdad for hijacking letters. At least school wouldnt know how crazy person they are dealing with.... 2 more nights and my wife will turn to a meercat.

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 18:55

wjchoihk - I remember you that had a very positve interview last year with what would one normally consider as an almost definate offer, but unfortunately were waitlisted. If you dont mind my asking how did this years interview compare with the last?

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 18:57

Also did you actually call on the post 'out' day when they told you or day after i.e. post delivery day?

wjchoihk · 13/02/2013 18:59

This time the same intervier say now ds seems to be ready..... With a lot cooler attitude... I dont buy that until my meercat catches a thick prey....

wjchoihk · 13/02/2013 19:01

Out day. I lied that i call due to family travelling which u may do ^^ but hopefully with good outcome. I spoke to a senior person.

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 19:10

Oh my gosh - that means i may be able to find out tommorrow afternoon Hmm! I could send copy of tickets if they need proof of travel! Now im all nervous again.

Ladymuck · 13/02/2013 19:19

Yeah, but they're reading this thread so they'll know who you are Biscuit

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 19:25

yeah - but i really am going away! leave early on fri so could send travel details if they need proof! and they are truly very nice people in the admissions office Smile. And i didnt mean anything bad i may have said on here - honest. And besides the decision is already made Wink

AspiringMissMarple · 13/02/2013 19:27

Oh Gosh, I forgot that this thread was being monitored... Good luck tomorrow Burntoutdad & everyone lucky enough to have booked a holiday...

Somelikeithott · 13/02/2013 19:31

Lol everyone ! Only 2 more sleeps to go. What's one more sleep. No phone calls, no hijacking mail or raiding sorting offices. We've waited this long, lets all find out together on Friday ( hopefully, no posties going AWOL). If any of your posties do go AWOL, let us know and we can hunt them down ( like the mafia!!!)

Remind me of this post tomorrow, we I'm stressing it....

FatalFlowerGarden · 13/02/2013 19:44

Wjchoihk -did they say that the reason your ds didn't get a place last year was because he wasn't ready at 10+? I only ask because I have a strong suspicion that's what they'll say about ds this year Sad...

There is no way I'm getting any useful work done on Friday. I'll be checking this thread every 5 mins!

FatalFlowerGarden · 14/02/2013 07:58

Morning all! Am standing at the bus stop outside my flat; the Whitgift school bus has just driven past me... wonder if I'll ever be seeing ds onto it...

Am keeping my fingers crossed that all of us, W or T, are in the 'fat envelopes' pile today Grin

burntoutdad · 14/02/2013 09:19

wjchoihk - I dont buy that until my meercat catches a thick prey....
I dont think your postman will be very happy being refered to like that!!Wink

racegirl87 · 14/02/2013 09:26

Ah somelikeit. That's a lovely thing to say.
Thanks. Well we got busted today as my dd has a memory of an elephant and piped up that its the 14th today and that's when the letters are sent out about the new school for ds. She's obviously remembered from when we discussed it ages ago so ds is now 100% aware of what's coming tomorrow.
There's no getting round it so it will be faced head on, good or bad, and we'll be fine.
I hope everyone has a happy, peaceful day. Smile

burntoutdad · 14/02/2013 10:01

Peaceful day!! - DW and DS as calm as day, im literally finding it hard to do anything useful. Cant ever remember feeling so anxious about anything, will stop work early today and hit the bottle WineWineWine.
It's times like this when i wish i hadn't giving up smoking all those years ago but then again i would probably need to be on a ventilator by tommorrow!

JohnnyT · 14/02/2013 10:45

Good luck everyone. I'd second what racegirl said: my chronically forgetful DS has been checking the post this week. Never happened before so out of character. While I'm going to hit the Wine though maybe not until noon, what's the equivalent for a DS? Don't want to start him too early on my bad habits.

EyesWideClosed · 14/02/2013 10:52

What is it with our normally What day is it?' DS's? Despite not mentioning the big day since he sat the tests, he suddenly declared at dinner last night, I'm really scared about Friday!'. He must be telepathic.

burntoutdad · 14/02/2013 10:53

We have heard through the grapevine that they will not tell parents today, but will email tommorow all those who wont have access to snail mail. Oh the agony, it will be akin to being dumped by text!!

kimalima · 14/02/2013 11:30

I haven't been fretting at home because a) I will drive my DH mad and b) I don't want to stress out my DS - I haved saved all my angst for this forum.
This morning DS walks in my bedroom and says calmly "mum if I don't get any offers, what do we do?". I wanted to hug him so tightly Sad. I ran through all the scenarios that would be available to us but it just shows that they really are thinking about this more than they let on.

kimalima · 14/02/2013 11:36

Excuse the typos... that's stress for you... or rather I should be doing my 'actual' work I get paid for... but somehow this thread keeps popping up and I have to type really quickly before someone notices I am on Mumsnet yet again!!

JohnnyT · 14/02/2013 11:44

kimalima -- imagine how much more grief you'd get from co-workers as a DH (and working in a testosterone-fueled finance job)! If only it was ParentsNet...

Seeline · 14/02/2013 11:46

Feeling for you all - I remember the angst of last year so clearly. Half term was a week earlier last year though so I'd had a whole week of DS at home saying 'only x days to go', and declaring each day when the post arrived 'this time on Friday.....' He pounced on the mail on the day - I didn't really want him opening it himself but you know boys Grin

kimalima · 14/02/2013 11:53

JohnnyT very funny indeed. I work in that kind of environment but can get away with it... you on the other hand... I can imagine you resizing your internet window frequently ha ha... that has cheered me up.
