I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

My postal delivery seems to be every other day - and Fri is an off day! What's the etiquette on phoning the schools?

havinganightmare · 12/02/2013 22:16

I know several who did. I wouldn't do it first thing - wait till 11 and say envelope wasn't with the post you'd received?! Last year someone rang the school because they'd not received it with their post - only to find it on the mat 5 minutes latere where it had been delivered with everything else and she'd just not picked it up ! That's stress for you !

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 09:36

As we will be away i asked if they would tell us over the phone and it is not a problem at all (Friday morning of course not Thursday afternoon Grin).

AspiringMissMarple · 13/02/2013 10:34

I felt compelled last night to check this thread again as we received a letter from W yesterday... to confirm that our DS is doing the Terrific Two sport course next week. Quite strange to see the list of names, as there is this weird veil of anonymity on Mumsnet and also waiting to collect DS in hall full of strangers at W & T.

The letter was sent on Monday so that was a good test to assert/assess that the postal service is working fine! :-))

Stats for t at 10+ are I believe 200 sat exam , 100 interviewed for approx 48 places.

What are the stats for W at 10+ specifically?

racegirl87 · 13/02/2013 10:58

Tried to stay away to keep anxiety levels to a minimum but have failed! Do the more knowledgeable amongst you know when the bursary people know if your child is successful? For example, do you get offered a place then the whitgift foundation get told who has been offered places (and offer/don't offer a bursary) or does it happen simultaneously and everyone knows before you!!!
Just interested to know. Not holding my breath obviously, my DS didn't go for any scholarships as they don't do one for incessant computer game making or general dawdling...
If only..
hope everyone is holding it together Grin not long now

stresscity · 13/02/2013 11:24

Can't type, too stressed!

Croydonmumtods · 13/02/2013 11:38

Aspiringmissmarple - not sure re w stats but have heard approx 190 applied for 10+ and approx 80% interviewed. I think that came from burntoutdad at some point on this thread. I also have very intermittent post so will be a bit desparate on Friday. Love the way people refer to 3 more sleeps (now 2 hopefully) surely you mean 2 nights awake worried fretting overanalysing again!!!! When I did fall asleep last night briefly dreamt offers from both w and t with 50% scholarships from both - ha ha ha. Even in my dream I was arguing that that was impossible and clearly a mistake.
All the very best to everyone for Friday. What will be will be and no matter what the news we will all be able to deal with it and move on and ds's will be fine because they know we love them no matter what.

NotADragonOfSoup · 13/02/2013 12:17

The bursary people will know already. When the letter arrives on Friday it will say whether it is a Full Fee place, a Scholarship or bursary place that they are offering.

NotADragonOfSoup · 13/02/2013 12:18

That should have read I believe the bursary people know already.

I would say everyone knows except you!!

FatalFlowerGarden · 13/02/2013 12:24

Yes, when ds went for interview I was told that the bursary entitlement had already been calculated... didn't do much for my stress levels Grin

FatalFlowerGarden · 13/02/2013 12:26

Should probably clarify that I took this to mean that it had been calculated before ds even sat the exam - I don't think it was surreptitious confirmation of a bursary place (in my dreams!)

racegirl87 · 13/02/2013 13:02

thanks soup and fatal. It's so frustrating knowing that these people know and you don't!!! Got a busy few days so hopefully I can stay distracted. DS has no idea that we find out on Friday. I don't know when our post arrives so at least I don't have that build up to a definite time. I may set up camp by my front window though with the drinks cabinet coffee machine at close reach.

Somelikeithott · 13/02/2013 13:15

Lol stresscity, @ your can't post, post!!

Nice to see we are not the only ones keeping DS in the dark. He is completly stress free, but me........

I've hear a few people mention the 2 week sport course, AMM posted about. What is this all about? Just curious.

Racegirl, lets will your dream to come true, maybe we can share if I help with the willing.

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 13:47

2 day sports couse

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 13:47

-Course

NotADragonOfSoup · 13/02/2013 14:04

Both T & W tend to run sports courses during school holidays.

Somelikeithott · 13/02/2013 14:32

Thanks burnt & soup.

2 weeks? It's the stress !!!!

AspiringMissMarple · 13/02/2013 15:02

Somelikeithott, the sport course at W is happening on Monday and Tuesday next week, critical time as we will all have received The Letters by then!!!

Somelikeithott · 13/02/2013 15:33

Aspiring, hopefully, your DS will be familiarising himself with the surroundings in readiness for September.

AspiringMissMarple · 13/02/2013 15:56

Hott, funny you should say that, I was considering redecorating his bedroom or perhaps the hall with the lovely Cole & Son 'Flamingos' wallpaper, nice little project for the half term... well obviously after we have received The Letters. Quite fickle really, not sure how to translate the Trinity motif... any suggestions?!

burntoutdad · 13/02/2013 15:56

Just thinking the letters will actually be leaving the school at some point tommorrow - could wait outside the gates and hijack the post bag!

Somelikeithott · 13/02/2013 16:29

Aspiring, flamingos wallpaper nice. Hmmmm trinity motif.. Will have to think about that one, maybe peacocks with a bold red line through the whole wall paper. ( no peacocks here!)

Burnt, naughty, bad, wicked ... ( slaps the back of your wrists). How could you????

AspiringMissMarple · 13/02/2013 17:12

Burnoutdad, LOL we are all getting a little hysterical!!!

NotADragonOfSoup · 13/02/2013 17:13

Wildebeest in the crossed-out-red-circle. Mr B is quite clear on the fact that T has no herds of roaming wildebeest.
