Good luck lovely mumsnet mates....! It been a pleasure stressing with you all - its almost kept me sane. Blush

Seeline · 16/02/2012 09:01

My DS has asked every night since T interview what the date is so he can work out how many days to go..... Last night he asked DH what time the letters would be posted today so he could work it out to the minute Sad What are they going through??
One more sleepless night.

kravings · 16/02/2012 09:09

frankies - I could not sleep, that's why I thought I'd go online. The wait is almost over...but the anxiety has started building up Sad

frankies69 · 16/02/2012 09:56

Work today, so hopefully not too much time to stress!! Hmm
In for half a day tomorrow and I WILL be postie stalking if he hasn't been by the time I get home!!! Wink

I sure he thinks I am after him!!! Grin

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow - I was in your position this time last year and I remember the awful helplessness I felt. We were lucky and DS now fully integrated into W life and loving it (skiing this week!).

nuttynat003 · 16/02/2012 13:13

OMG, one more sleep to go! Actually feeling quite sick now and to add more stress our lovely postie who has been delivering to us for years has been moved to a new round - new postie has not turned up for the last 3 days!!! Aaagghhh!! I think a trip to the sorting office may be needed in the morning! Good luck to you all Smile

stresscity · 16/02/2012 13:24

Asterisk · 16/02/2012 14:26

Hi everyone

Good luck for tomorrow! Here's my postie-stalking song. Feel free to add verses as a way of relieving the tension...

Hey Mister Postman look and see,
Oh yeah,
If there?s a letter from Trinity,
I?ve been waiting such a long time,
For a place for that boy of mine.

They said there?d be word today
Saying whether he?s done okay
Please Mister Postman, look and see,
If there's a letter from Trinity.

I've been waiting here pacing Mister Postman
Sooo impatiently,
I want a Croydon postmarked letter
Saying he?s got a guarantee.

Mister Postman, can you see,
Oh yeah,
That I?m going stir crazy,
It would be such a big thrill
If we could avoid the comp up the hill.

So many days of anxiety
I?ve quite lost my sobriety,
The only thing that?s made me feel better
Is that I?m an addicted Mumsnetter.

Mister Postman, look and see,
Oh yeah,
If there's a letter in your bag for me
I want an envelope that?s nice and fat
If it?s thin you can take it back!

frankies69 · 16/02/2012 14:30

Asterisk Just read this out to my colleague at work who is suffering silently with us!!! Well she is cos I don't stop moaning about the wait!!!

Well done you for keeping us all smiling...I am not a poet but would like to just add

Mister Postman, look and see,
If there's a Whitgift Letter for me

SoupDragon · 16/02/2012 14:31

My post arrived at noon today so I shall be ready and waiting for tomorrow's delivery.

Ladymuck · 16/02/2012 14:33

My post still hasn't arrived today. Which is late even for here.

SoupDragon · 16/02/2012 14:39

I asked DS2 if he wanted me to wait until he gets home on Saturday to open the envelopes. He said yes.

Thankfully his father insisted in the background that I open them tomorrow and text DS2 the results.

Ladymuck · 16/02/2012 14:41

The cynic in me would suggest that his father wants to be able to enjoy the initial celebration. Perhaps you could send him the nametapes for sewing?

Seeline · 16/02/2012 14:44

Asterisk - that's brilliant!! Well done for putting your mind to good use instead of sitting there worrying and chewing your nails like I'm doing
Can't believe it is sooo close after such a long wait - fingers crossed for everyone that you get what you want Smile

frankies69 · 16/02/2012 14:54

Well I have made a monumentous decision, I am going to take the day off tomorrow and take my DC to the cinema to see Happy Feet 2...Anyone wanna come???? Wink

OP posts:
Seeline · 16/02/2012 15:07

Is that before or after the postman's been??

frankies69 · 16/02/2012 15:35

Oh no Seeline thats before...need something to take my mind off the fact that he's coming...and if he hasn't been by the time we get home, I can ring and ask where my bloody letter is???

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 16/02/2012 15:49

Well, he is paying, Ladymuck so I guess he is entitled. I'm the one who went through tutoring hell though, which I think is the bigger commitment :o

I feel rather weird about it all. After the high of DS1 getting a good scholarship, I am worried that DS2 can't live up to it rather than him not getting a place. Which is rather odd and I hope my faith in him getting in isn't misplaced!

Ladymuck · 16/02/2012 16:30

It is tricky isn't it, especially as it is such an opaque process. I guess theoretically ds2 could have got higher marks in the exams but still not get such a good offer as ds1 (though I assume you'd be on the phone sharpest if they didn't at least offer him a place!). Still, I guess the process works in contrast to the grammar school strict exam only assessment.

SoupDragon · 16/02/2012 16:37

Given MrB's comments at the Whitgift interview, I would be stunned if he didn't get a place - I know he is brighter than DS1 and has the personality to interview better too. But don't tell DS1 that Wink

I have told him that any scholarship etc depends on how he compares with everyone else's and it is not directly comparable with DS1's results. unlike the SATS where I have told him that their sole purpose is to see if he can get higher marks than DS1

LIZS · 16/02/2012 16:38

Feel the same Soupy, different level of expectation on dd than for ds last year. Worse, she'd be disappointed too. We received no post today so we'd better get a delivery tomorrow !

frankies69 · 16/02/2012 16:44

Where did you apply for your dd to go Lizs??
Soup I had a very similar interview with W but still I am panicking now...Please give me some reassurances that I didn't dream the interview we had!!! Shock

Don't really want to be specific but co-eds on edge of M25 !
