How are you enjoying the 'UK' heatwave?

Every time I open a news app the lead story is about the UK heatwave. As usual this is actually just an English heatwave. Down south it might be hot, hot, hot but up here it's not, not, not.

Currently 14C feels like 10C here in the Kingdom of Fife. It was pishing it down with rain when I got up. I have even popped the central heating on for an hour to take the chill off the house.

PS - lighthearted 😜

Lovely and overcast but warm in NW England!

330ml · 01/07/2025 10:36

It isn’t just the English heatwave. It’s been pretty warm here in Wales too.

PlasticAcrobat · 01/07/2025 10:38

I'm nearly at the tippy top of England, in the north east, and it was over 31 degrees yesterday. Was there no part of Scotland that had the same weather, even in the border region?

Tryingtokeepgoing · 01/07/2025 10:38

Been high twenties / low thirties down here for a while now, and I love it. A nice dry heat and a pleasant breeze most of the time. Beautiful :)

roseymoira · 01/07/2025 10:41

Isn’t 14 classed as a heatwave for Scotland?

Andthatrightsoon · 01/07/2025 10:43

Extreme SW of England. A beautiful 23° currently.

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 01/07/2025 10:44

I'm in Edinburgh. I had an ice lolly yesterday so as not to feel left out.

By the way, this thread is in Scotsnet. We don't really care how warm you currently are down south.

Marinamay44 · 01/07/2025 10:48

I am in southwest England, in a coastal town. There is definitely a heatwave here.

I couldn't sleep last night as I was so uncomfortably hot, even with a fan right next to the bed aimed at my face.

Temperatures are extremely high.

You couldn't sit in the sun comfortably today, I had to go and sit in shade.

HappilyDivorced89 · 01/07/2025 10:49

I'm up in Angus - it is hot, but not a nice hot...very humid, clammy and sticky...

MiddleAgedDread · 01/07/2025 10:50

it seems to have got colder since i got up this morning. I've just put a jumper on and closed a window!!

Bit rude?

I am interested in what the temperature is like in Scotland.

It is interesting to hear what the temperature is like all over the U.K.

Polly7122 · 01/07/2025 10:53

In Glasgow it been very muggy and unpleasant for past few days with sun peeking out from behind the clouds. Least it only been raining later in day here which is a nice change for us up here especially as schools now finished for summer holidays

Marinamay44 · 01/07/2025 10:54

It is really uncomfortably hot here in Brighton, south England.

I had the windows open last night, and two fans on, and I still couldnt sleep because I was so hot.

Notreallyme27 · 01/07/2025 10:55

NW England. For the past few weeks it’s been on and off overcast and raining, interspersed with the odd sunny spell, but still quite warm and muggy.

We did have one nice hot sunny day yesterday but today it’s back to grey skies and 18 degrees.

Davros · 01/07/2025 10:57

It might be in Scotsnet but it’s also showing in Active

Chemenger · 01/07/2025 10:58

It’s been pleasant here in the East Neuk, nice not to need a jacket. Perfect cool temperature in the evening for a good night’s sleep as well.

ExercicenformedeZ · 01/07/2025 11:01

I'm in Glasgow and am grateful that I'm not down south? It's not a heatwave, and I wouldn't mind a few more degrees, but I would take 18 degrees with intermittent sun over being toasted alive.

That's pretty south! What do you consider uncomfortably hot, what's the temp? Surely the breeze off the sea will bring some refresh?

I'm in Hove actually. Can confirm it's unpleasantly hot, 29 degrees at my desk.

Slept alright last night without a fan, but that's because I was absolutely shattered.

I consider uncomfortably hot when i can't sleep all night because of the heat, and when I cant sit in the sun without getting sunburnt (even with suncream on).

I live more inland in Brighton, I am not right beside the sea.

I am not sure what the temperature was yesterday, I heard it went into the 30's

Edinvillian · 01/07/2025 11:07

We were supposed to have the heat yesterday but it didn’t get hot due to the large amount of smoke blocking the sun (wildfires). It’s about 18 today.

I know. 🤣

it’s not like there aren’t hundreds of threads about how hot it is ‘down south’.

meanwhile I’d be happy for a few days of ‘taps aff’ weather.

I'm from Australia and a heatwave here gets to 45! It feels like your going to pass out! 🙁🇦🇺

But you do need reminding that the UK is more than just England and Scotland.

Marinamay44 · 01/07/2025 11:15

God its absolutely roasting here.

I must book a weekend to scotland to escape for a while!
