I just KNOW that on Monday morning, someone will call me at work and say 'My team member has tested positive for covid using one of the many tests they have accumulated what should they do?

So railing about that in advance. Because I flagged up the question weeks ago but still work hasn't taken a line on it...

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 29/04/2022 00:17

Less of a rail, more an observation- the random threads that are started on Scotsnet when there’s a whiff of a political mess in Scotland.
I’m not saying someone doesn’t genuinely want to know if there’s a phone signal on Ben Nevis, but I just note the random topics that pop up to possibly push down Census chat or the noise around lost paperwork stories if any of us should dare to have an opinion at particular points…it’s just interesting timing🧐

RaraRachael · 29/04/2022 07:05

Have our Covid rates rocketed since we were allowed to go maskless?
No, so it just proves they didn't make any difference. I wonder if some people are going to wear them for the rest of their lives 🙄

Dinoteeth · 29/04/2022 07:35

@RaraRachael exactly the same as when England dropped the masks the covid rates dropped.
I have wondered before if once covid gets inside someone's mouth / nose is the masks some how makes it worse, rebreathing the same air?
Or it could be people just aren't testing as much?
Or its a seasonal virus which is killed of by UV rays and we currently have a bit of sunshine?

Most likely its a combination of all of the above.

CharityShopChic · 29/04/2022 08:10

Bit sinister to suggest keeping a Scottish Government movement tracking app loaded into your phone "just in case" isn't it?

mapleleavesreturn · 29/04/2022 08:28

Just ridiculous too when you can download it again easily and it's more likely to work at that point.

They're probably casting about now for what they can use this fantastic Scotland gov app for to keep their visibility high in people's lives.

WouldBeGood · 29/04/2022 08:31

Maybe they’ll send us bagpipe music and garlic memes with it?

Does anyone still have that app?
I deleted it almost a year ago .
Once fully vaccinated we weren't required to isolate for incidental contacts any more

CharityShopChic · 29/04/2022 09:22

I think I had it for about 2 minutes.

But why on earth would Humza Yousless say "oh just keep it loaded in case we need it" rather than "just go ahead and delete it now".

Dinoteeth · 29/04/2022 12:33

I only had it for a short time. Is that the same app that has your vaccine status?

CuddlyCactus · 29/04/2022 13:22

No @Dinoteeth that's the covid status app and I hope that's staying as we need it for travel.
The one that's going is that one that worked through blue tooth and could ping you if you'd been in close proximity so someone who tested positive.

Dinoteeth · 29/04/2022 14:51

Never downloaded the other one. Didn't fancy Scotgov having a tracker on me, same as the whole signing into restraunts, I left a few duff phone numbers. Took DH a while before he said I thought your number ended in a 4 yes it does but I don't want track n trace on my case.

mapleleavesreturn · 29/04/2022 15:26

No I didn't download it either!!

boobashka · 29/04/2022 19:32

Anyone else noticed a distinct lack of snp signage/ posters? Given that we're less than a week till the local elections I'm surprised to have seen none at the usual locations around my neighbourhood. I wonder if that means anything...?

Dinoteeth · 29/04/2022 19:47

Now that you mention lack of posters etc, but do they put lots out for the local elections?

boobashka · 29/04/2022 20:16

I'm not sure @Dinoteeth . DH thinks it's my wishful thinking and they'll sweep the board as usual but I'm hopeful that a few more people have had an epiphany and seen them for what they are....

Blimeyherewegoagain · 29/04/2022 22:51

I think a lot of business owners will be changing their vote away from Snat after the way covid has been handled.
we have a ton of lamppost signs around here for Snat and Greens which I’m surprised at because it’s unnecessary plastic waste…

boobashka · 29/04/2022 23:03

Scottish Greens are not so concerned about boring things like single use plastics... more interested in ensuring men have access to female spaces...🙄@Blimeyherewegoagain

True 🙁

Blimeyherewegoagain · 29/04/2022 23:08

I actually don’t think our local green candidate has any idea about her party’s core policies. She seems to think it’s all about energy saving and recycling.

Agree with your DH, unfortunately. I know there’s folk who do not grasp that these are very important local elections for the systems and process that impact you most day to day on a micro local level.

Meantime, on a national level everything is going to shit and is being covered up in the most sinister way. No different to behaviour at Westminster level, they just seem to get away with it here.

WouldBeGood · 30/04/2022 13:06

@Blimeyherewegoagain 🤣 Outrageous from your Green candidate!

i genuinely don’t know why anyone would vote SNP or green after the last couple of years.

On the upside, no masks in hairdressers today, or 2 restaurants - it's falling away thankfully.
