Can I rail about THE BLOODY NON-STOP fucking annoying WIND!!!! So sick of it…I feel like I’ve been blown about all year. Just nipped to the shop…it’s glorious sunshine, blue sky….and I’ve come back looking like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards with grit in my eye. When will it end???? The weather has been SHIT this year…even the nice days have been ruined by a freezing cold north wind.
sigh

GrouchyKiwi · 06/07/2022 18:14

I hear you GrandPrismatic. The wind is a nightmare.

Scianel · 06/07/2022 18:22

We appear to be going into our third month of wind and grey gloom here. What a pile of shite this summer has been.

RaraRachael · 06/07/2022 20:39

We broke up on Friday so of course the weather has been shite ever since. I can't remember a time when there's been this relentless wind for so long, I look out the window and it seems a bonny day to put washing out but it would end up in Caithness if I did.

Pootle40 · 06/07/2022 22:49

Was saying exactly the same earlier. Every day fucking windy. Have hardly been in the garden. Too cold once the breeze hits you. I don't consider 16/17c and windy to be warm or Summer. Sigh.

GrandPrismatic · 07/07/2022 18:22

Still windy! But at least it’s a warm wind…quick! Grab what’s last of our one day of summer….

mapleleavesreturn · 07/07/2022 23:00

It's getting a bit old reading about heatwaves elsewhere - fingers crossed for the weekend!

runningpink · 08/07/2022 07:44

Can I ask a couple of questions please as im starting to panic a little…

-Will whoever gets PM job be more likely to let Nic have another referendum?

-Can they legally bring back masks etc? Iv seen a few things on GMB this week hinting towards this? Although I didn’t see the full story just from flicking through so could be worrying unnecessarily

imstilljenny2 · 08/07/2022 09:04

@runningpink I really don't know however I think the compliance with masks will be low even if these are mandated again. I certainly won't be wearing them again (I wear them in work and will not wear them in my free time). If it's worrying you remember no one can force you to wear a mask-just say you're exempt.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2022 09:19

@runningpink I think it’s likely to be some mental right winger, which is bad for almost everything, but good for no lockdown and masks.

I can’t imagine any of them signing off on another referendum either. Thank fuck.

The SNP could do to get rid of their lying, covering up for sex pests leadership too. Been railing about this!

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2022 09:47

Yes, I thought it was a bit rich when Nicola talked about the whole rotten lot of them.

DasGirl · 08/07/2022 10:11

@runningpink I think any attempt to reintroduce masks or any restrictions would be met with poor compliance.
People complied before because we were waiting for vaccines, then waiting for all age groups to get their vaccine. What would we be waiting for now?

And most people seem to have had covid at least once now so the fear factor that was used to keep people complying is no longer there.

So I wouldn't worry about it, IF they were reintroduced loads of people wouldn't bother wearing them

BinBandit · 08/07/2022 10:19

The biggest danger re referendum I can see is if there is a general election and Labour do a deal with SNP to get in power and part of the agreement is signing off on the referendum.

runningpink · 08/07/2022 16:56

Thanks everyone that’s reassuring to hear. Guess it’s a case of watch this space now and see what unfolds next

mapleleavesreturn · 09/07/2022 11:02

Despite regular mask announcements in Bologna airport, very few wearing masks, think much of the world has had enough at this point running

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 09/07/2022 14:48

Am in France for weekend... despite official advice being to ensure you have proof of vaccination and that you'll need to fill in a passenger locator form, I was asked for nothing more than passport on arrival at airport.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 13/07/2022 14:54

question for teachers - do you buy in your prelim papers and from who/where? or do you create your own (how/from what?)

just thinking ahead for next year (got Covid and bored)

BinBandit · 13/07/2022 15:16

Not a teacher, but I'm pretty sure the schools will have access to past papers and I also used to get them on-line for my DC to practice on. The subject head is probably a good starting point.

Haudyourwheesht · 13/07/2022 19:37

Most schools buy in P&N prelims. They're questionable quality but the SQA generally accept them for appeals. Past Papers can't be used for official assessments as they're not secure.

BinBandit · 13/07/2022 19:45

Ah yes, I didn't read it right. I thought they were looking for material to use in class. 😬

BinBandit · 16/07/2022 14:22

Got up early today to go and get the shopping in before the heatwave.😂

Then realised in the shop that I couldn't buy the wine I need for a recipe as it was well before 10am!! Glad that I now need to make another trip to the shop and also that I've been prevented from scoffing a bottle of Pinot Noir at 9am on a Saturday morning. Surely there is a difference from adding a bottle of wine to a £150 shop and going in to just to buy a can of special brew?

Anyway, on top of all that there is also no heatwave yet but sun is poking through the clouds.

RaraRachael · 16/07/2022 14:35

So annoyed at seeing everybody else having a heatwave and it's dull here. I've done a load of washing ready to put out in tomorrow's alleged 24 degrees only to find it's meant to be raining - heatwave, what heatwave? 😡

Yep just started raining here! I mean i dont fancy the 39 degrees my parents will get but a nice 26 and sunshine would be good!

GrouchyKiwi · 16/07/2022 22:57

I'm just grumpy about the fact that it only takes 2 glasses of wine to get me blotto these days.

sweetkitty · 17/07/2022 10:12

Can I rail about the fact I have spent the last week in bed with Covid. Two and a bit years I worked through it, cuddled children who were sick with it, full rooms went down with it I didn’t get it. Only one of two people never to get it (out of 40). Got my vaccines did all the stuff correctly. First holiday in 2 years got it on holiday the whole family a week later still suffering. I reckon it was the plane going out giving the incubation times.

Anyway off to play the daily game of will I hang the washing out?
