So i have a rail which is not my problem, my son will call them Monday to discuss; he's been called for jury duty in Dunfermline.

To get there he'd need to get a bus or train to edinburgh then one onto Dunfermline. On a quick check the morning journey will take him over 2 hours.

He's to be there for 10am. He'd need to take a train from our town at 7.18 am.

As i said he'll phone them himself on Monday but can they expect members of jury to travel up to 4 hours (includes waiting times between trains).

Stroopwaffels · 11/06/2022 12:26

I'm also railing today at Harry bloody Styles. DD was given tickets to his Hydro concert at Christmas 2019, she should have gone in April 2020. Postponed - don't worry though say promoters, keep hold of your tickets (and we'll keep your money) and then when it's rescheduled you'll be able to use them.

Then he announces a big new tour but it's not at the Hydro, it's at Ibrox. And the tickets are a lot more. So after holding onto our money for 2+ years, they refund and then we pay £30 more a ticket to get into Ibrox. And it's fucking TIPPING IT DOWN and it's freezing. DD is already there, queuing outside with the rest of the numpties, and won't hear a word against him.

WouldBeGood · 11/06/2022 12:32

@Stroopwaffels little did I expect a rail against Harry styles 🤣 But it sounds well justified! The weather really doesn’t help!!

@WouldBeGood unison, unite, local govt and school staff pushing for 5 percent as scotrail got that

mapleleavesreturn · 11/06/2022 12:44

It did make me chuckle - the waste is already piling up in the streets round me but it can get worse!

WouldBeGood · 11/06/2022 12:46

Oh jeez

Time to declutter now before we have to drive our rubbish to the tip ourselves!

Time to declutter now before we have to drive our rubbish to the tip ourselves!

Our bins already only get collected once a month so never any room to declutter - unless I could disguise it as grass since I have to pay £35 a year to have that collected.

mapleleavesreturn · 11/06/2022 15:34

Once a month ?!? The last three weeks running the communal bins have had seagulls and foxes having a field day smearing it across the street, and that's a weekly collection!

BinBandit · 11/06/2022 16:42

We get general waste, recycling, cardboard and glass monthly, the brown bin for food and garden waste is every 2 weeks but they only collect it if it has garden waste in it if you've paid £35 for your bin sticker. So standard size wheelie unless you are a household of 6 or over and you get it collected every 4 weeks. To be fair we just about manage on a normal basis but if you have extra people staying or want to clear anything out then you are chapping, Even with crushing everything down, it's the recycling that's the biggest issue. We have been known to put some recycling in the general waste as there is no room in the recycling. I'm sure that wasn't the expected outcome.

BinBandit · 11/06/2022 16:42

I'm also nearly £300 a month in council tax.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/06/2022 17:08

@BinBandit You must be Stirlingshire. They actually offered larger bins to families of 5 or more so that was a bit of a concession; luckily we qualified under that rule.

BinBandit · 11/06/2022 19:10

Yep @LizzieMacQueen we don't qualify for a bigger bin but I'm glad we don't have nappies etc to deal with as we'd really struggle I think.

WouldBeGood · 12/06/2022 08:14

Once a month is terrible! Every two weeks here and it can get smelly.

Bin collections, that is

Can I rail about this? First it was indyref then Brexit then Covid. I just want to breathe and live for a bit. Is it too much to ask?

Selkiesarereal · 13/06/2022 20:39

@PoloMintPatty I know, I’m just exhausted by it all especially as we are moving into cost of living crisis. Will just open up to more division with nobody happy at the end of it, again.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/06/2022 21:00

I came here to join the rail thread about that PoloMintPatty. It's so frustrating. Now's really not the time to be banging that drum again.

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2022 21:01

Oh, god @PoloMintPatty I do agree. I don’t think anyone really has the appetite for this again just now.

Let’s have some peace and time to come together, not sow further division.

And how can the waste of money be justified in these times?

I'll sit on this bench.

And how can the waste of money be justified in these times?

And I'll wave this flag.

I can only imagine the SNP are hoping people are so weary that they'll vote Yes to make them be quiet.

mapleleavesreturn · 13/06/2022 21:10

Honestly this is about the least fun thing I can think of to happen as the uk is potentially going into recession, and while Putin is losing his shit on a daily basis - now to look forward to fights with friends about what a wanker Boris is and how great Nicola is, and how brexit magically disappears all the negative consequences of scexit...

FFS.

I just want to go on holiday and not hear about the lot of them for a few years.

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2022 21:12

I really would have thought the shambles of Brexit would have shown people how bad Scexit would be.

OP posts:
mapleleavesreturn · 13/06/2022 21:18

So would I would, I do understand why people vote SNP but why anyone thinks scexit stacks up economically as anything other than a disaster is mind boggling.

That IFS report says the SNP are going to have to raise taxes further and even so make cuts, and all this without trying to find independence.
