ElephantOfRisk · 06/01/2022 09:33

So has the virus mutated overnight so that 7 days works now but didn't the day before? It's utterly ridiculous.

ElephantOfRisk · 06/01/2022 09:53

I'm not annoyed at the reduction btw, just all the absolute nonsense. Like it's fine being in a room with 40 folk in it without a mask if we are sitting down is fine, but obviously we are at a massive risk of spreading should we stand up to go to the toilet or to leave.

At DHs work, the main area has to be deep cleaned if 3 people test positive but it's fine if it's only two.

If you have any kind of logical mind, this stuff is torture!

That makes no sense at all! So if you tested + a few days back, you need to continue and follow the original rules. That is ridiculous.

Yes. That must be it! NS stayed up really late to work out how to change the nature of every virus contracted in Scotland so it is now only contagious for 7 and not 10 days, and contacts are now much, much safer than they were yesterday. But she couldn't do it retrospectively... cut her some slack folks.

And, yes, I keep having to go back to repeat my mantra of "logic doesn't come into it - this is Covid" to stop myself banging my head against a wall.

• 11,360 new cases of COVID-19 reported*
• 57,217 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results*
◦ 23.1% of these were positive
• 18 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
• 43 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 1,267 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 4,387,192 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,033,635 have received their second dose, and 3,041,961 have received a third dose or booster**

  • There continues to be large volumes of tests being processed by labs; this and the holiday weekend have impacted turnaround times resulting in delays between specimens being taken and results being received and reported. Public Health Scotland are continuing to monitor the situation. ** Public Health Scotland note that the issue with the vaccination data reported yesterday has now been resolved and figures presented today are up to date

Wow. 5,000 fewer than yesterday.

I don't know what to make of their * as they put it everyday. I'll be interested to see tomorrow's figures.

However, as Lateral Flows are no longer required to be confirmed by PCR tests...... ?

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/01/2022 15:34

Got one DD's results at 12 (negative), other DD's (negative) and DS's (positive) at 2:30... still waiting for mine! Still not a symptom among us...

mibbelucieachwell · 06/01/2022 17:10

Aaagh @TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong. Fingers crossed for your result.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/01/2022 17:24

@mibbelucieachwell it's just in.. negative too... so daily lateral flows for a while and freedom if negative... but poor DS stuck at home...

mibbelucieachwell · 06/01/2022 18:21

Hurrah for your negative result.

So rubbish for asymptomatic children. A sneaky wee run in the car to get out of the house maybe?

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/01/2022 19:53

As an unsociable teen, at least DS is well suited for languishing in his room! It's what makes home being positive rather than the rest of us most surprising...🤷‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 06/01/2022 19:54

@TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong DS dreams of isolation 🤣🤣

ResilienceWanker · 06/01/2022 20:35

Glad most of you are negative talkedtoomuch - but yes, poor DS Sad

I have no idea what to make of the figures. I'd like to think the cases decreasing a bit is positive - by then Humza starts saying this is just the beginning of the worst bit - and I'm still thinking it might be positive as I've stopped paying attention to what he says really Grin

Wow. Such a lot of tests.

WouldBeGood · 07/01/2022 14:45

Thanks @BlameItOnTheBlackStar, that's interesting.

dancemom · 07/01/2022 15:12

I'm assuming that's now a combination of both PCR and LFTs in todays test numbers?

OP posts:
ecceromani · 07/01/2022 15:21

Thanks @BlameItOnTheBlackStar
It's good that individual health boards are able to give these figures
It's definitely in the public interest to know this.

"The data should shine light on the spread of Covid-19 in hospitals as well as giving an indication to the public of how dangerous the new variant really is."
Absolutely!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 07/01/2022 15:34

I haven't found the brainpower yet to work out the nuances of the data, but it looks like the majority are admitted for either confirmed or query Covid.

What that means I dunno, I have taken Cocodamol for a sore back so am working on one sleepy braincell...

WouldBeGood · 07/01/2022 15:45

I think that’s right @BlameItOnTheBlackStar, with about 40% catching it subsequent to admission.

WouldBeGood · 07/01/2022 15:48

And sorry to hear you’ve got a sore back @BlameItOnTheBlackStar, hope the drugs kick in soon

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 07/01/2022 15:58

It's actually a kidney infection which is delightful, but at least I've got antibiotics now so sure I'll feel better from today! Thank you Smile
