@ecceromani

Thanks *@BlameItOnTheBlackStar* It's good that individual health boards are able to give these figures It's definitely in the public interest to know this.

"The data should shine light on the spread of Covid-19 in hospitals as well as giving an indication to the public of how dangerous the new variant really is."
Absolutely!

Or not as the case may be in terms of how dangerous Omicron is. Hardly a good overall representation of Scotland data. But either way 40% of hospital admissions are feck all to do with Covid and in fact probably higher....... I'd love to know why the narrative between England and Scotland is so very different. Am I to believe that 100 miles away in Berwick Upon Tweed I'd be much safer. What utter tosh
WouldBeGood · 07/01/2022 16:24

Can anyone help offhand with the rules for unvaccinated adults who are a close contact and symptoms?

ecceromani · 07/01/2022 16:36

@WouldBeGood

www.nhsinform.scot/self-help-guides/self-help-guide-when-and-how-long-to-self-isolate-due-to-coronavirus

Look like pcr, and if positive can end isolation on day 7 if 2 neg LFTs irrespective of vax status
But if negative PCR will still need to isolate for 10 days if unvaccinated if they are an adult .

mibbelucieachwell · 07/01/2022 16:38

I think they're in the slammer for 10 days, just in case @WouldBeGood . IIRC 10 days isolation even with a negative PCR, unless she who should be obeyed changed it on Wednesday.

mibbelucieachwell · 07/01/2022 16:38

X posted sorry

WouldBeGood · 07/01/2022 16:41

Thanks so much guys. I’m so confused and appreciate it.

It’s not for me, obviously, as although I hate everything I’m duly triple jagged 😃

Tiredoftiers · 07/01/2022 16:46

It’s interesting cause different papers have interpreted the data differently. My interpretation would be that out of the 126 admitted who tested positive, 60% were admitted due to covid and 40% were admitted for another reason not related to covid. What it doesn’t say is how many patients in total were admitted, and what percentage of admissions are covid positives. I took it to be pretty positive data.

Scottishskifun · 07/01/2022 19:02

@tiredoftiers the actual public health Scotland full report.

They have included probable as well within the 60%
It's interesting as Grampian is actually 6 days of data which is quite considerable and is still very low in the scheme of the number of positive cases there have been foe the health board in the weeks previous (assuming the 2 week hospital lag)

Tiredoftiers · 07/01/2022 19:24

Thanks @Scottishskifun, one paper was reporting it as 60% of hospital admissions due to covid. If greater Glasgow with a population of £1.2million only had 69 admission to hospital in a 24 hour period it would be a pretty quiet day. It would be interesting to see a total admission number, to get a context.

Scottishskifun · 07/01/2022 20:18

@tiredoftiers yes SG in the summary page did this which is where they got it from. Probably is more then likely to be just without a confirmed test I suppose!

Tiredoftiers · 07/01/2022 21:41

I’m lost, fair enough 60% of hospital admissions with covid are due to covid, but to then say 60% of all hospital admissions are due to covid seems to be far from what the data says. There will be covid negative people admitted to hospital. It would be interesting to see what percentage of total hospital admissions were due to covid.

Scottishskifun · 07/01/2022 22:01

@tiredoftiers yeah the summaries have very specific wording which is easy to misconstrue -it's for acute hospital admissions which is not the same as hospital admissions.
The report actually gives far better breakdown and information the summaries whilst factually correct are missing the crucial information like out of all hospital admissions......but that's the skeptic in me thinking they are choosing to represent and summarise a certain way!

WouldBeGood · 08/01/2022 09:17

I’d assumed it was people in hospital with Covid, broken down into whether that’s why they were admitted??

WouldBeGood · 08/01/2022 13:11

How you feeling @BlameItOnTheBlackStar?

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 08/01/2022 13:26

You're lovely to ask Smile

Not so bad. Have had a lovely lazy day so far and am going to my mum's later for steak pie. Could be worse!

Have a great weekend everyone Smile

Can anyone who've tested positive recently let me know how long t&t take to contact you.
I've got one DC who tested positive on 5th after a positive lft, with no symptoms. Everyoneelse negative but we're still following the old rules which seems utterly ridiculous but have had no contact from t&t to confirm.
We've always stuck by the rules but this one makes no sense at all for the rest of us with daily neg lft's

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 08/01/2022 16:17

My son got an email almost immediately after registering positive lfd result... link to online form to input contacts/ places he'd been etc...

ArthursSeat · 08/01/2022 17:06

They got the acknowledgment back and same for the Pcr saying to isolate but no link to put in contact details and nobody from t&t have been in touch as yet

Scottishskifun · 08/01/2022 17:09

They are unlikely to call you at the moment. There are so many cases they are only really calling high risk ones - people who work in care homes etc!

There is zero difference between testing positive on the 5th and at the stroke of midnight on the 6th!
Just free yourselves the isolation for Whole family if not positive was guidance never in law anyway!

That is a huge drop.

Is that because there are fewer tests now PCR is only for those with symptoms?

Mistressiggi · 09/01/2022 17:05

Will they publish positive lateral flows then, separately? My experience at work this week (school) certainly hasn't been a lowering!

WouldBeGood · 09/01/2022 22:32

I think a move away from positive test counting is a good thing.

We shall see
