I'm off for a surprise trip to visit family in England next week - yay. Smile

Can anyone advise about the Scottish covid app. Will this be accepted in England? I'm taking the train down so I don't know if I'll even need to show it anywhere? Can anyone who has been to England recently advise?

Thanks!

Scottishskifun · 10/11/2021 13:29

@aurea no vaccine passports required in England therefore no need to show anything.
They are needed in Wales and Scotland.

Scottishskifun · 10/11/2021 13:30

Correction I think some theatres ask but haven't been but I had no issues travelling abroad prior to the app just with my vax status letter anyway!

Aurea · 10/11/2021 13:43

Thanks!

Sounds like it will be almost a real break away from all this madness. Smile

WouldBeGood · 10/11/2021 13:50

@Aurea o went to London and it was pretty much normal. No masks, track and trace, it was lovely. Have a great time.

Thanks Dancemom. That's quite a big rise, I hope it's caused by a lag or something.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 10/11/2021 22:36

It's caused by a huge number of tests more than anything

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 07:35

What’s causing all the testing, I wonder?

titsintiers · 11/11/2021 07:38

Probably local cop attendees, there are quite strict testing protocols in place from what I've heard.

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 07:41

Sounds like Inverness schools having a hard time at moment.
2 secondaries having to send whole year groups home as so many staff absent

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 07:49

It’s a shame as hospital numbers look ok.

Sigh. Here come the restrictions …

titsintiers · 11/11/2021 08:22

There were no extra restrictions when numbers were quite high a few weeks ago. Let's cross our fingers and see how the next few weeks go.

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 08:41

Ok, @titsintiers, I’ll get a grip. Spiralling into full on catastrophe mode 🤣

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 08:52

I can't see more restrictions, except maybe extending vaccine passport for anywhere serving alcohol indoors (which other countries are already doing).
There's no furlough so they can't shut businesses.
And the biggest single group of positive cases is still school kids!

Scottishskifun · 11/11/2021 09:45

It's ironic they are floating the idea now at 500/100,000 less than in aug/Sept!

You only have to look at the map to see immunity from previous infection especially in children is playing a big part!

Cities are down the bottom of the list, rural areas are high. It can't be controlled I have no idea why SG is trying to build defences basically made of sand. Hate to say it but with vaccines Borris approach of letting people gain immunity isn't so dumb now (it definitely was before treatments and vaccines!)

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 11/11/2021 12:59

Who is floating what ideas? I haven't seen anything.

Scottishskifun · 11/11/2021 13:13

Scottish government are "examining options" about covid restrictions to be finalised on the 16th. They include extending vaccine passports to hospitality and leisure with no definition of who or how Extension of masks..... No idea where to again no details Extend working from home/change guidelines "examine" ventilation - the only one with decent merit and should have been done about 6 months ago for schools!
WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 13:20

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar see what Swinney said yesterday…

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 11/11/2021 13:31

Ah thanks, I've been traveling for work and not kept up, I'll have a look

dancemom · 11/11/2021 14:02

my small area is now at over 2000/100k.

You'd imagine that there must be ambulances abound and bodies being rolled into the streets but it's all surprisingly normal outside.

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 15:21

Ooft that's another huge amount of tests doneShock

ecceromani · 11/11/2021 15:23

But on a positive note over 100 people less in hospital than last week
