Sorry @Scottishskifun, I meant I never test. Each to their own

AlphabetAerobics · 21/11/2021 09:38

I’ve never tested either. Had to do a lft for something but gagged when I tried. So shoved them in my handbag should it be demanded - nobody asked. Didn’t like the assertion that the stupid things should be presented to Queen Nicola no matter the result…

Let’s not even get started on the insidious pollution and waste.

MLMshouldbeillegal · 21/11/2021 09:48

I did start off asking the kids to do LFTs when they went back to school last school year after the Easter holidays, such a faff. Three kids, three lots of uploading negatives and going through the online form. Soon got fed up with that.

DH and I have never done a LFT test, the only PCR I have had was as a condition of a day's work on a film set last Jan/Feb when nobody was vaxxed so it made sense at that point - and I was really desperate to escape and have a fun day out that I was happy to have the PCR.

13 year old DS was at a party yesterday, one of those paintballing things OUTSIDE, followed by pizza back at the birthday boy's house, OUTSIDE around the firepit and the mother whatsapped to say could they all do a LFT beforehand please. Confused

Needs to stop, all this pointless testing of healthy people. Or twice, thrice vaxxed people.

Mistressiggi · 21/11/2021 09:53

You don't have to upload the result, I do the tests but very rarely upload a result. It's more time consuming than the actual test! The new style tests are a breeze compared to the old ones.

WouldBeGood · 21/11/2021 10:52

Nobody gives a shit about the turtles now that we have all the single use plastics rife to save us from Covid @AlphabetAerobics.

WouldBeGood · 21/11/2021 10:54

That’s just ridiculous @MLMshouldbeillegal. People are insane.

The latest one we are to be fearful of is symptomless Delta. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Bonkers

Scottishskifun · 21/11/2021 13:07

I think if the SG had their way then we would still only be allowed to meet outside, most businesses would be shut and anything which remotely resembled socialising or god forbid a party would be banned! Luckily for us they don't have control of furlough and I for one am god damn grateful for it!!!!

Its going to be interesting to see if she goes for "the greater good" or listens to warnings around popularity and her beloved independence campaign whihh is already apparently taking a blow this week!

MLMshouldbeillegal · 21/11/2021 14:20

Of course they would. @Scottishskifun. While they carrying on as they always have done, trips into the Scottish parliament every day, no masks at work, wee jollies off on "fact finding", selfies with world leaders at conferences...

Just because you CAN, Queen Nicola, doesn't mean you SHOULD, remember? Hmm

dancemom · 21/11/2021 14:47

Thanks @dancemom

I found a interesting point on travelling tabby.....

"Today, 2,677 new cases were reported, which is a decrease from yesterdays figure of 2,756. We are currently averaging 2,882 new cases per day, which is a decrease from this time last week, when we were averaging 2,988."

So we have a small decrease in numbers since last week, a huge decrease since August (despite no real changes) and we are being warned about social restrictions now..... I'm starting to wonder if the SG look at their own reported numbers at all..... 🙄

It's almost like they aren't following the science and actually have different motivations....Hmm

A testing centre in my locale today for "those without symptoms" to come and get tested. Do we really still need this bullshit?

People who work/need to be in crowded situations and those who want to visit with potentially vulnerable people are the categories who should be doing regular LFTs. Lets get rid of this utter nonsense of these testing centres. Is it about keeping up fear to keep control? Making sure that they find some more cases to add to the numbers (and keep up the fear and control)? Or what?

Haudyourwheesht · 21/11/2021 15:40

I wonder if it is because it's spreading into the more rural spread our areas, instead of being concentrated in the urban central belt and Dundee. I suppose smaller hospitals may find it harder to cope.

The thing is in these areas, cases per 100,000 can flare up and die down so quickly.

I agree.

I don't upload the results of the lateral flow - far too time consuming. Even the one positive one we've had I didn't report it - just arranged pcr tests, which was positive for the person with the positive lateral flow test. Didn't see the point in reporting it.

Scottishskifun · 21/11/2021 17:04

The numbers in the rural areas are high per population but not too high in actual numbers.

In my area we peaked over 1000/100,000..... This equated to 50 cases out of 5000 and the majority were children.

There are community hospitals but reality is anything serious still goes to the big city hospital and always has done as they just aren't kitted up for it and haven't been for years!

WouldBeGood · 21/11/2021 18:26

Who the fuck would bother their arse to travel to a testing centre to get tested with no symptoms?

Not me ! Covid seems rife in Fife (see what I did there) but I'm cracking on with life.
MLMshouldbeillegal · 21/11/2021 21:23

They pitch up with their wee minibus every week or so in Milngavie precinct. They're practically dragging people into the bus for their test. And there are plenty of people who seem excited at the prospect of a PCR, LFT, whatever it is.

And this is despite the fact that less than 2 minutes' walk away, at the station, is a permanent covid test centre for those with symptoms.

Some people are exceptionally weird. Makes zero sense but just costs £££.

ElephantOfRisk · 21/11/2021 21:36

It's just lucky that we have all this extra money we need to get rid of....oh wait...!

TeenTraumaTrials · 22/11/2021 13:47

@WouldBeGood

Nor me. Why would anyone want to test 'just in case' if they have no symptoms (unless of course you are seeing someone vulnerable). For me it all comes back to this nonsense of people testing positive being described as being cases. Clinically if you have no symptoms you are not a case. DCs have done LFTs when we get the dreaded email from school and we did tests to travel - that's it. We must must must at some point stop all of this but I fear we're in for months more of it.

Me too @TeenTraumaTrials. It's started to feel a bit like this time last year again. I don't think we'll have a lockdown but I think they're going to try to cancel Santa stuff, etc. I hope I'm just being pessimistic but there's an ominous tone from Holyrood, despite the fact that, since any change was made to restrictions, the numbers have gone up, and they've come back down again.

WouldBeGood · 22/11/2021 19:25

Santa is allowed in the street here but no reindeer 🤷🏻‍♀️

ecceromani · 22/11/2021 19:34

Is that because the reindeer haven't had their booster dose yet @WouldBeGood ?

Scottishskifun · 22/11/2021 19:36

I'm not cancelling any Christmas plans regardless of what they say. We were good little citizens last year and my FIL missed out on his last one spent with his grandchildren before he died this year.
No way am I repeating cancelling plans for "the greater good" or whatever message they decide to put in a crappy advert!

WouldBeGood · 22/11/2021 19:41

@ecceromani I said on the local Facebook page that reindeer were known to be rife with Covid and they removed it as spreading misinformation 🤣
