Rookiemere I'm jealous of you hopefully going to Duran DuranEnvy not seen them since the 80's Grin

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 21/05/2021 18:23

@rookiemere I'm jealous too... saw them in 1983 at Ingliston, then 2009 at Edinburgh Castle and would love to see them again... JT still looks great!

RaraRachael · 21/05/2021 18:47

Woop woop back into Tier 2!
Got date for second jag. Last time OH and I had exactly the same time. This time he is on Friday and I'm on Saturday. Going to take my chance and plead for mine at the same time with him as I'm a keyworker. Tried their online thing to find the nearest alternative they could offer me was 50 miles away Hmm

@prettybird

No idea how take up is from the door-to-door testing kits but the mobile units(doing PCR tests) are highly visible and the local FB groups are encouraging people to use them. The mosque and gudwhara are also giving out lateral flow tests (as well as the door-to-door PCR tests).

The vaccination centre at the mosque is available to anyone 18+. I know ds' old school friends have either been done or have imminent appointments.

I'm not sure how much more they could do bar holding people down and forcibly forcing swabs up their noses and throats Wink

@prettybird, is that just anyone in certain postcodes?
ssd · 21/05/2021 19:41

I hope those of you with bookings can go ahead and have a decent break. Our mental health is important.

prettybird · 21/05/2021 19:54

I think it's just certain postcodes. G41 and G42 for sure and some G5somethings.

prettybird · 21/05/2021 20:19

This was on a local FB group. We've also had a letter delivered to "the household" which gives details of where the various local PCR testing centres are, the number to ring to get lateral flow tests posted out and also that we can pick up lateral flow tests for home use at the testing centres.

Thanks

rookiemere · 21/05/2021 23:03

@TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong and @Perihelion there's a few UK venues in for 2022. Wouldn't you know friend and I booked Dublin tickets as seemed like a fun option at the time.

WouldBeGood · 21/05/2021 23:29

@EvilOnion my booking is child free, hence luxury. The perks of divorce

Lidlfix · 22/05/2021 08:29

My joint best ever meal was at No1 at the Balmoral, it ties with The Balcony in Byron Bay Australia but I can't see a return visit there this side of DD4's graduation. DH and I went all out and had the taster menu with paired wines. It was amazing! Hope you have the same sort of experience Wouldbe as everything was perfect.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 09:29

Oh, that’s great to hear @Lidlfix. I am excited!

Mistressinthetulips · 22/05/2021 10:25

Wasn't there a tv programme on yesterday about the Balmoral? (Hotel, not castle)
I had afternoon tea there once and it was amazing.

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 10:51

Oh, I’ll have a look.

Has anyone been to Jupiter Artland, and is it any good? Going to try to force DS into a fun day out with me when schools are off in a week as he very rarely leaves the house!

rookiemere · 22/05/2021 11:07

@WouldBeGood we did a visit to Jupiter Artland a few years ago and loved it, particularly if weather stays good like it is now.
Sitting in post vaccination booth currently now fully vaccinated ( for what it's worth)

SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/05/2021 11:08

I really want to go to Jupiter Artland! I'd never heard of it until someone on here mentioned it a few months ago.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2021 11:11

Fingers crossed I'll be going to Glasgow in July for a family birthday celebration. We're staying centrally and would like a fairly posh afternoon tea. Any suggestions?

Scottishskifun · 22/05/2021 11:11

In some good news Englands test pilots of large crowds (which some labelled irresponsible..... 🙄) showed 15 positive cases out of 58,000!

WouldBeGood · 22/05/2021 11:29

Thanks @rookiemere. Long range forecast is good so might chance it. That or Crawick Multiverse, the Charles Jencks thing. And yay for double jagging! Three weeks til my second.

titsintiers · 22/05/2021 12:01

Central Hotel or the Blythswood @RaraRachael are lovely but I'd recommend cup tea lounge the most. It's not as posh as the other two but is amazing.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2021 13:30

Thanks titsintiers I'll have a look.

I'm glad England's test events turned out well, I was watching horse racing yesterday with crowds of people too. As usual we're miles behind.

dancemom · 22/05/2021 15:29

• 370 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 21,744 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 1.8% of these were positive
• 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
• 3,096,341 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 1,799,956 have received their second dose

Haudyourwheesht · 22/05/2021 16:13

I'll second Cup @RaraRachael, it's lovely. Cranachan in Princes Sq is nice too.

prettybird · 22/05/2021 18:19

We've just had a box of 7 lateral flow tests delivered by the postie to "The Household" Smile

I don't think we can complain about lack of testing Wink

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/05/2021 18:35

Jupiter Artland is worth a visit - the Bridge Inn at Ratho isn't far if you want to tie in a nice lunch.
