Anyone else unsure who to vote for?

Used to be a Labour supporter but they don't stand in my constituency (or when they do, they come 5th or 6th). It's between SNP, Lib Dem and Tories (in that order) here. I physically can't vote for the latter two, however I'm not enthusiastic to vote SNP, despite voting for them previously. Greens aren't standing either. I hate the idea of spoiling my ballot but I genuinely don't know what to do. Anyone else in the same situation (not necessarily stuck between the same parties)?

@StarryEyeSurprise

Actually we're slightly ahead in vaccines if you include first and second doses.
Scotland vaccine roll out got off to a very slow start though and the letter system is ridiculous especially for younger people! Just look at Moray where they are having to telephone people because they need to get them vaccinated to try and stop the outbreak there. If they had set up the same online system used in England they could have simply text from GP lists on a auto system rather then staff and therefore costs having to call people!

Don’t forget the £66 pounds an hour paid to dentists, pharmacists and Doctors to do the same job nurses are doing for 12-16£/ hour.

Pharmacists were cancelling locum shifts in the community left, right and centre to work in these clinics.

Widely reported in the media. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/its-like-being-spat-on-23537592.amp

Do you not think that is squandering money ?

ClarkeGriffin · 08/05/2021 10:27

I am a little surprised that the area I'm from was won by snp a little bit considering that the whole area is pissed off at nothing being done here that they want done. They can't seem to realise that they keep voting in the person who keeps ignoring them. Confused

But I do like how some areas where, although snp won, based on the overall voters who turned up the majority of them didn't want the snp person. Now, going by snp logic, surely that means they should step down right? Grin Funny that they won't, but that is their logic against Westminster.

I'm just hoping they don't have a strong majority. Maybe she will finally shut up about independence and actually crack on with leading the country and dealing with its problems. I'd have more respect for her then and might even vote independence.

I can't see universal free school meals and free prescriptions as a bad thing. Free school meals for the equivalent years are in England too, and I think they are good for getting the class to eat together, plus there's a bit more control on what the children eat so hopefully improved post lunch behaviour...

Given demographics I'm not sure that the cost of administration of a paid prescription service plus necessary exemptions would balance against the receipts. I think it's marginal in England and the people who suffer most are those on incomes just above the threshold for help who might well need to choose between a prescription (£9/item) and heating. It's not like poorly managed medical conditions are cheaper in the long run!

They need to focus on equity of opportunity instead of this communist approach of “ give everyone the same “ and consequently squandering money all the time.

What about these daft baby boxes? None of my friends accepted them, but I’m sure a lot did. And the majority of people are won’t have needed them.

So everyone had an equal opportunity to accept a baby box but not everyone did. Fine. They weren't compulsory. Even when the SNP provide exactly what you are asking for - equal opportunity - you turn it into a way to belittle them.

Ended up voting SNP if anyone was interested.

Thank you.

Our High Streets are a state, every single one filled with poundlands and semi chems. Where is help for small businesses? Better quality products and a bustling High Street.

I think this is another worldwide trend that you are blaming on a local government. If people really wanted healthy, vibrant high streets full of small businesses, and choice they would stop going to out of town supermarkets and buying stuff online. Amazon and Tesco are killing the High Street not Holyrood, or the Senedd, or Stormont. We are.

Forgive my being a plebby teuchter but what on earth is a 'burrata'. 'Waitrose' I know means 'the former Safeways I can't afford to shop in'.

RedactedTaeFeck · 08/05/2021 16:29

Does google not work in teuchter land? Grin

Burrata (Italian pronunciation: [burˈrata]) is an Italian cow milk cheese (occasionally buffalo milk) made from mozzarella and cream. The outer casing is solid cheese, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it an unusual, soft texture. It is typical of Apulia.

Scotland is just too socialist for some people now. Sad really.

Bytheloch · 08/05/2021 16:53

Turn on TV to catch up with election results. Blackford the millionaire crofter is adding his tuppence worth. He can fuck off and then some more fuck off.

HarrisMcCoo · 08/05/2021 17:27

Not a surprise that SNP in the lead so far.

HarrisMcCoo · 08/05/2021 17:29

Great a teacher ( working in Glasgow) is the first woman of colour to be elected . Future education minister? 🤞

Speaking of Education, v.loosely, the Swinneybot has been very ungracious on Twittter today. Are we able to see the report now, do you think?

We can only hope some new talent comes through- the idea of a teacher promoted to that role is interesting.

StarryEyeSurprise · 08/05/2021 17:51

Ask the OECD. Also, the previous report was in '15 and the curriculum hasn't changed since then.
