Anyone else unsure who to vote for?

Used to be a Labour supporter but they don't stand in my constituency (or when they do, they come 5th or 6th). It's between SNP, Lib Dem and Tories (in that order) here. I physically can't vote for the latter two, however I'm not enthusiastic to vote SNP, despite voting for them previously. Greens aren't standing either. I hate the idea of spoiling my ballot but I genuinely don't know what to do. Anyone else in the same situation (not necessarily stuck between the same parties)?
@WouldBeGood we're fucked if a decent portion of the population have had the same thought of you, basically that voting Tory is a safe sort of protest vote. I'm sure it is at your local level but apply that nationally...

And it's not like we can even just fuck off to another country easily these days thanks Brexit Trapped on this wee island with Boris Johnson leading the way for how many more years?

Ooh I'm feeling the election stress now Grin
I do agree to an extent. But many seats aren’t Tory alternatives. I voted Labour on the list.

It’s all extremely depressing.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/05/2021 14:21

It is, I've never voted with a heavy heart before.

To me, the indyref felt like Christmas Eve, everyone was sharing a wee secret nod and smile as they left the polling station. Cried my heart out the next morning.

I know that's not how most of you would have experienced it, but that vote was really dear to my heart. It felt so special to be potentially voting to change the direction of the country, a really historic privilege.

Cut to now! Pandemics and fucking cronyism and bollocks. Urgh, pass me a beer.

Personally I would find it very difficult to vote Tory, and most working class people who grew up in the west of Scotland in the 80s probably feel the same But i totally agree that everyone should vote as they wish
Totally agree with this. I guess a lot depends on where you've grown up, age etc as I know where I live Tories will never have a hope in hell of getting in. The repercussions of their actions here in the 80s is still apparent.

Sad news for our nations kids.

@XDownwiththissortofthingX

The HCB is law. It's parliamentary history. It was approved and voted for by every single MSP besides the 31 Tories. What outcome this election has is immaterial to the HCB since the Tories are only ones with any interest in repealing it and they haven't a hope in hell of unseating the SNP.

This narrative that the Tories 'care about women's rights' is beyond parody. No party has done more damage to the fabric of Scots society than the Tories. It's invariably women disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination, lack of opportunity, and lack of equality, all things the Tories specialise in driving with their ideologies that create disparity in the first place, then vilify and persecute those who end up with the thin end of the wedge.

It's telling that this narrative is always espoused by very firmly middle-class professional women. It's utterly tone-deaf, naive, and screams of privilege.

Lovely bit of misogyny from the SNP crew.
SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/05/2021 15:28

Do you mean that the post you quoted is misogynistic? I don't know why its misogynistic to say that poverty disproportionately affects women, that's just a fact.

I'd say that a party who designed a policy that says you're not entitled to financial support for a third child unless you can prove you were raped - and even then they won't let you have the money if you stay with your abuser - is deeply and disturbingly misogynistic.

StarryEyeSurprise · 07/05/2021 16:00

Let's not forget the Tories also brought into place a system where families needing help ( single mothers for example) must wait six weeks and once in receipt of help, must attend JC meetings and look for jobs despite, for example, having three children to look after. Far too many mothers starve so their children can eat.

No it was the last paragraph.
SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/05/2021 16:16

Ahh right, see what you mean now. Well, maybe the PP said women as it's mainly a female forum.

RedactedTaeFeck · 07/05/2021 16:24

No, it would be intentional, we are all terfs 🙄

And the poster clapping couldn't be more a middle class professional woman if they tried (based on what they've said on here).

StarryEyeSurprise · 07/05/2021 16:24

Just read that the racist from Britain First only got 46 votes in Glasgow Southside . 46 too many but still. A big FU to fascism.

Are you referring to me?
SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/05/2021 16:40

No @StarryEyeSurprise it was a post by someone else.

I don't think it was being pointed about women and terfs though, at least that's not how I read it @RedactedTaeFeck

You mean until the education report comes out and another vote of no confidence gets put in?! 😉
SoMuchForSummerLove · 07/05/2021 17:13

Yeah but he'll still pass it as the balance of parliament looks like it won't change all that much.

Seeingadistance · 07/05/2021 18:00

Politicians can say whatever they like about supporting women, but unless they know what a woman is, it’s all so much hot air!

Suffolkpunch345 · 07/05/2021 19:18

Edinburgh central to SNP, absolute nonsense.

Those on a low income vote SNP and thanks to 14 years of SNP leadership the vast majority of Scots are on low incomes.

StarryEyeSurprise · 07/05/2021 19:22

Edinburgh Central = low income? You're talking tripe.

Suffolkpunch345 · 07/05/2021 19:27

@StarryEyeSurprise

London Vs Edinburgh ?

Your base your values on everyone else in Scotland - we are worse off than those in England and we pay more tax.

StarryEyeSurprise · 07/05/2021 19:36

I didn't mention London 😂

StarryEyeSurprise · 07/05/2021 19:37

Thanks for letting me know what I base my values on though. 👍

Starving, really ? 65% of adults in Scotland are obese.
Suffolkpunch345 · 07/05/2021 19:43

@StarryEyeSurprise

It’s alright, I can already tell you are comfortable with a mediocre life, the worst drug deaths in Europe and the lowest attainment levels. Just as long as single mothers are okay 👍
forfucksakenett · 07/05/2021 19:51

Jesus wept. Who are you to say whether someone's life is mediocre? Equally I think protecting vulnerable society members is really important. What are we as a society if we don't do that?

Maybe your life is mediocre and that's a shame. I'm sorry for you but no need to be so rotten to others. Hope you feel a bit less angry soon.
